That's good to hear but the same old posters have been voicing their unrest about the team and the manager as they were last season.
I have just read a post where I am told that if we don't beat Yeovil next week the situation will be desperate!!! Really? Only if the ambition was promotion and Pardew has been clear from the start that mid table medocrity is the target so where is the panic and unrest?
Even in our loyal 17,000 home supporters the boo boys ply their self-fulfilling trade but the hard core away fans tend to be more appreciative, loyal and unstinting in their support that mirrors their own commitment to the team.
I didn't see too much of that at Swindon tbh.

Confidence is not the problem, lambert came from a team that he scored goals for fun,so he can't be short of confidence.
The other players pardew has bought in havnt come from teams traumatized by upheaval and relegation either.

In all fairness i think people need to get a bit of a reality check
This season was fooked the momment we went into admin, got -10 and had no manager, staff or even owner for the majority of our pre-season.
Anyone expecting us to go up with those things happening is a nutter.
We HAVE turned a corner.
We have played Millwall,Colchester,Huddersfield and now Charlton. 4 teams who the critics/bookies have as being contenders for promotion. Of those 4 games we lost only one. A club that has come out of the fire like we have and not losing to 3 fancied teams in just the first month is a good sign.
The team has come together well and obviously a few loans will come in. But not even our first 11 competed with the top team who had won 6 out of 6. There was nothing between the two sides.
So what is there to be unhappy about? If we were losing week after week and getting turned over then i would understand but right now we are playing ok and will get better as the season progresses. I would much rather win games because we deserved to win them then fluke a couple of wins a month.
The team being built is to win more games on merit rather then luck and anyone watching the games can see we are near to that.
The problem is some people are so negative that they enjoy being that way. They love to **** on peoples fire. Some people come away from the games happy when we win and sometimes even when we lose if we play well. Where as others are only happy when we lose, they enjoy the fact it gives them the chance to once again be negative.
A well written piece st marco.
And I totally agree with people being realistic but people over cooking our chances, promotion candidates etc etc are just as bad as the negative posters IMO
The truth is we have been relegation candidates from day one and todays result hasn't changed that statitiscal fact.....we are not gaining enough points per game to stay in this league......this is not negative,it is the facts, obviously this can change but but for every game that passes our points per game needs to rise (if that game is not a win).
If people want to be optimistic that's fine, but I prefer to be realistic.
-
Er, why would I back them when I hadn't seen the new team??!!
I am confident I will be collecting.
The league is yet 39 games young - that's 117 points to play for my friend...
Don't get me wrong I admire your enthusiastic optimism and you are right in saying there are 117 points to play for........but we need about half of those points just to scrape to safety.
At the moment we are averaging 0.7 points per game and to survive in this league we need to average 1.4 points per game (5 years history of finishing above relegation) so a doubling of efforts is needed,a very big ask in anybodys language, not impossible but very unlikely.
We are all sipping from the same cup and I really pray you are right but it is going to take more than one decent game for me to part with my money and back us for promotion.
-
Have you seen who we have played and where they are in the league??
By the time we play them again we will be on a winning run and I have today backed us for promotion.
We outplayed Charlton and still don't have our best 11 on the park.
Backed us for promotion??? .......are you fookin nuts??
There is no way on gods earth that we will be good enough for promotion,if you are so confident about promotion why have you only backed them today? Why didn't you back them after the Swindon game or the brentford game?
Just because they pulled one decent result out of the bag you think that they are good enough for promotion?
-
Good result today and I would have taken that result before the start, but the overall picture at the moment is poor by anyones standards.....I expected to be out of the negative before the start of September but it hasn't happened.
It is still relegation form and if we had done better in our home games then this would have gone down as an excellent result.
It has to be 3 points against yeovil or we really are sh1te.

I've got the wunderadio app and it's ok,it sometimes breaks up but it's good enough.

Charlton 3 saints 0
Pardew to get sent to the stands after a dodgy penalty decision against us.
I am derren brown.
-
From what I have heard from my friends in the media is that pardew wasn't even second choice.
-
I fear that Adam will be just another talented player, from a very long list of players that will never fulfill his potential, this may not entirely be his fault but he needs to start to show us what he is capable very soon otherwise he will find himself trying to prove his abilities in the reserves or at another club.
-
I don't for the life of me understand what they are so worried about....we will get turned over and pardew will be given 90 minutes of abuse by the charlton and a few minutes by the saints fans.

On the charlton forum
Let's hope the pardew lightening doesn't strike twice as some of it sounds familiar.

Click on the sticky at the top of the page (looking back on pardew)
Perhaps somebody could cut and paste the link for me as I've only got this iPhone with me.

A friend of his brother told me he was on £2400 a week when wolves were in the championship,in the prem he would have got a pay rise, maybe a 50% rise so I would say he is only on about £4000......not really out of our league really but will he bring more to the table than lambert who is a similar player?
-
As soon as he slips that saints shirt on you can be sure he will turn sh1te.

Could you also tell us who really shot JFK? My missus is fascinated by that conspiracy theory. I would also like to know if the US really landed on the moon.
1) sue ellen
2) I know she bored the tits off me everytime I go round
3) they havnt even got past the ozone layer.

Certainly not. It is very important to make sure that posters like yourself are talked down, because you are in the wrong.
Tbf I wish I was always in the wrong, but alas I have been burdoned with 'the gift' and I just have to try and live as normal as the rest of you.
-
The completely obvious answer is that Pardew is here to stay long term and there will be absolutely no issues with him last the whole season. There is not even a discussion to be had about it.
Ok we should agree to disagree until the event happens.
In the meantime just ignore my posts,it will only cause a knot in your stomach.
-
They don't offend me. I just feel sorry for you as you are clearly a deluded fool with no clue.
Nice.
Another 'brave behind a monitor' user, just what this forum is crying out for.
Once again for the hard of reading,If you don't like what I post don't comment, just jog on to the next post.
If you insist on turning the pardew in/out thing into a competition then I'm right up for it........I say he won't last the season.......what is your prediction?
It's the only way to tell who has a clue.
Up for it?
-
You truly have no idea what you are on about.
And you do of course.
You need to get out more if my posts offend you.
-
If true I would say that the owners are preparing for when pardew ****s up,it'll be good for continuity.
I would also like to add that pardew probably wasn't their first choice so perhaps they have finally got their man.
-
I would tell you all my stories but then you wouldn't read my book that I am planning to write.....it'll be pwopper nawty.
-
Pardew will be the architect of his own demise regardless of who does or doesn't want him sacked.
For the record I think our problems are too big for him to solve,he's not a bad manager but I wasn't convinced about his appointment, saying all of that,he is here,he has a job to do and we should let it run it's course......how long that course will be will be debated on here until the day he leaves, some people don't like him and some people think he's the lobos testes but no matter what your view his fate will not be decided by us.
-
Not sure about dof,I would say it is more manager in waiting when the pressure on pardew gets too great.
If I'm honest I would feel a bit more comfortable with coppel as manager.
Shearer and Keegan were keen-MLT

From what I have heard 2 other managers were pinpointed for the job before pardew, one is believed to be coppell and the other could have possibly been one of the few you mention.......perhaps they were offered it but turned it down, who knows.
