  1. I think he is an ideal signing.

Young enough to still be moulded, won't be insistent on starting every week, natural goalscorer.

Personally I am always bemused at the overrating of Ings. We have better in Rodriguez/Long.

Why can't we mould Ings? He's younger. He wouldn't be insistent on starting every week. He's a natural goal scorer.

Not sure how you judge Ings to be over rated and Rhodes the ideal signing?

Personally, I'll trust what ever our recruitment team decide to do but think they are both similar. I don't think either are exceptional talents though and we could probably create one for ourselves with a bit of patience. That's what our academy is striving for is it not? With Rodriguez coming back and Seager and Gallagher coming through is Rhodes really exceptional enough to not miss out on?

I also wouldn't take the Rhodes links too seriously, he's been touted around in every window for a few years now and nobody has gone for it. He can't get in the Scotland squad and I've seen Strachan explain because he doesn't offer a lot outside of the box.

  2. Morgan does not look as motivated or committed to the Saint's cause as he used to (to my observation). You may believe otherwise by the look of it.

I'm just intrigued to know how you've judged that. How are you measuring motivation and commitment to the Saints cause?

  3. By comparison, £800k for Fraizer Campbell was a great bit of business.

What are you basing that on out of interest? Buying Fraizer Campbell is never good business at any price.

  4. England are apparently quite happy to muck up their preps for liverpool's sakes and do medical in Miami( daily mail) After that we'll probably hear they are quite happy to do it in rio. Hodgson's I want everyone focused on England was just bs.

It wasn't bs at all. He stated quite openly from the beginning that he had no problem with people doing medicals as long as it's in their own time. By own time he meant when he's given the squad time off or afternoons off etc. As long as they don't miss out on training or meetings etc then he doesn't give a **** what they do, and he's said that from the start. No idea why anyone thought any different.

  5. Lambert, Shaw and Lallana all virtually gone aside from some admin.

So a player we were happy to sell and have been looking to replace for a while now and 2 that have out grown the club and fancy a shot at the big time who we have got a lot of money for? We didn't want to sell but the players who want to go we've got good deals for.

That's fine then. Invest, replace and move on.

Hysterical over reaction on this board once again.

  6. So many people over reacting again. Calm the **** down.

It's really not THAT bad a deal. I can understand why everyone is getting annoyed and yes it's upsetting to lose a club legend BUT as a club this isn't that bad a deal. Decent money for a striker we have tried to replace and were having to replace in the future anyway. It's an absolute dream move for him. Good luck to him but for us, I think it's a chance to bring in 1 more striker, let Gallagher keep progressing as a player and maybe bring Jay Rodriguez in a more central role. It's an evolution that was always going to happen, we probably didn't envisage us selling him, probably expecting him to settle for being on the bench a lot over the next year or two before he retired. It's a shame, but who can blame him and I really don't think we could have stood in his way. Talisman for us? Sure, but we've been trying to move on anyway, Osvaldo was supposed to be his replacement, Lambert nearly went in January until that whole thing blew up. We needed to move on anyway, now we have to.

I'm just chuffed for Lambert himself. Chuffed he gets a dream move rather than fading out with us.

  7. Not sure it's that bad a deal for us really. Last chance we were going to get any money for him and we can go out and (hopefully) get a younger replacement. Chuffed for Rickie, getting a dream move. Liverpool get a good striker to come play the Sheringham role. We lose a good striker and obviously a legend so on the face of it, it's a blow, but in terms of pure business, it's probably not that bad a move.

Still not convinced it's true mind.

  8. Yeah McLaren gets some undeserved criticism at times. A very good coach and in that sense would suit us nicely. His Derby team plays with a high energy that we'd be used to and I think our players would embrace him rather than have any attitude towards him. We could do a lot worse than him.

  9. And of course he is totally incapable of learning from that. He still beat us twice.

He had a number of stupid outbursts that showed he wasn't handling the pressure very well. His "I'm so honest, I'm a breath of fresh air, everyone love me" approach was embarrassing and smacked of Harry Redknapp. I personally am always wary of a man who is quite clearly using the media in a "ooo feel sorry for me because i'm young and English" way to give himself a good name. He alienated half the squad in 5 months let alone not exactly being popular with his fanbase. Despite his amaznig record that he and the media are banging on about he did about par with a pretty good squad (Nothing AVB couldn't and wouldn't have done) and further to all of that....he put a fan on the bench because he's so bloody wacky. **** off.

He may well be capable of learning, i'm not saying he isn't. He's clearly done a good job at Spurs on the youth side as they have a couple of good youngsters coming through (Debatable IMO but I'll let it slide) but I'd rather he didn't learn with us. I don't want a wacky manager unless he's proven. If we are to go down the unproven route I don't want a manager who is worried about his perception and wants the media to love him and I don't want a media love in so that in the bad times everyone can paper over the cracks. I want a professional manager getting on with his job and relishing in what is clearly a good job for anyone to take on.

  10. He'll need to put in a transfer request if he is to leave so we will have to prepare for that happening anyway. It forfeits his loyalty bonus for a start so the club would have probably forced him into it. If however we are not playing ball and are holding firm on a fee that Liverpool consider too much then putting in a transfer request will be his and Liverpool's way of getting the fee down. It says to us "You've got a publicly unhappy player on your hands now...do you continue to play hard ball or do you cave in and lower the price a little?".

  11. Statement will come soon and should clear everything up. Very good sign if new youth coaches are appointed, particularly if they're Spanish speaking.

If they are MP's men then I'm not actually sure that is a good sign. In the short term it's great obviously as it means he's more likely to stay but in the long term, this club has been set up to run smoothly even if the manager leaves and catering to his needs throughout the whole clubs means that if our results go horrificly wrong and we have to lose him then everyone else could go with him. The beauty of our system right now and other good systems in the league is that the manager fits into the club, not the club fitting itself around the manager. The days of a manager being in charge of everything have gone and if our manager goes this summer we know we'll be OK because apart from a couple of first team coaches everything stays the same. This is the role of Les Reed.

That's why any new appointments I'm sure will not be just based on MP's say so.
