A good start to the season and tenth place would do me.

Ron Davies. Mick Channon. Matt Le Tiss.

Why? For years we have been a family club that did little, just making up the numbers happy to have the occasional win against the big boys. Cortese has turned us from a L1 club on the brink of oblivion to champions league hopefuls and changed the entire culture of the club, spending millions of pounds on international players form top footballing nations, he is doing something different to turn us into a force, yet some fans seem to be stuck at the Dell and don't want to push on or try something different, they moan about the most trivial things. I'm glad we have a chairman that isn't afraid to make decisions that upset people and few can argue that he's not done much wrong so far. Give me successful corporate machine over fat imbiciles grinning in their deck chair shirts any day.
Ten out of ten for wind up.

Bought the white one last season as the home one was ****e. Won't make that mistake again!
-
Let's hope the sixty odd percent who say they won't buy it stick to their guns and this is replicated across the whole fan base.
-
Looks like ****e. Let's hope it isn't the actual kit.

My son has his - I don't have mine - despite linked and me ordering together.
Same here.

Just go on the main Saints site under fixtures. Takes seconds after hitting the download button.

I read Wasp Factory one year when on a week's skiing holiday. A brilliant and memorable book. RIP.

Does anyone know how you request a seat transfer online?
When I transferred last year I did it by phone. An extremely helpful person got me exactly what I wanted.

Nice to see so many memories of Steve Mills - my favourite player for a time. Such a promising talent and so sad that his career and then his life were cut short. Does anyone remember another young player who died - Austin Hayes? If I remember correctly he had lung cancer and never smoked in his life. Think he was only about 21.
On a happier note - I love this thread, I don't feel as though I have to be careful what I say!
If I remember correctly didn't Austin score on his debut? Terrible tragedy.
-
He doesn't score enough. Reminds me of Anders, in that regard (but I think Morgan is better).
To be fair his goals scored have rocketed this season (at least I think they have!). He has been the stand out player again for me and I can't remember a season when anyone else in the team was better.

Cool! I'm a fogey then! Perhaps it could be another poster classification like 'happy clapper', & 'bed wetter'!
Ha ha nice one!
-
What's the classification of a fogey btw? I've stopped posting for ages (and I'm youngish) mainly because I expect to have a sarcastic, snide comment attached to any opinion I may have. I'm probably being a bit of a saddo, but it does put me off commenting.
I don't think fogey has an age. It should just be for people mature enough to respect other opinions and act in a grown up way when having a considered debate.

Easy

Ha ha - that made me spill my beer!
-
What?! You mean that "Old Fogey" values, like reasoned debate and respect for others' opinions, have to be segregated into some quaint, "out-of-touch" ghetto?
I have a better idea - let's restrict all the running-off-at-the-mouth trolls, wums, and rude ars*holes to the Muppet Show, where they obviously belong. If they can't follow the forum's basic rules of on-line etiquette, stick them in a sub-forum for sub-humans.
Then we can open up the main board and the Lounge to intelligent, respectful conversation.
Problem solved.
I would be more than happy with that!
-
Is this the place to point out that Tommy Forecast is playing a division about Portsmouth ?
Tommy who?
-
Why not set up a new old fogie's section where insults are banned. It might encourage a few of us to post more and have genuine respectful conversations rather than the vile insults that seem to abound on most threads.

I started supporting Saints because of Ron. I was living in South Wales and looked through the old sticker albums to find a team to support (aged five). My Dad was called Ron so I was looking for a team with a Ron playing for them. I eventually found our Ron who was also Welsh and that was that. From that moment I was the oddball who supported Saints. My striped shirt attracted ridicule but I didn't care. My only encounter with Ron was when a load of us kids were down the beach in my home town. The Welsh team were stopping there and they were also on the beach. Suddenly Ron was spotted and I was thrust forward to ask for his autograph being a Saints fan (probably aged about seven by then). Ron signed everyone's autograph and was wonderful - I almost burst with pride that my Ron was the centre of attention. What a wonderful man.
-
RIP Ron. The reason I started supporting Saints.

Some 'crayons' in the Kingsland North. I kid you not.
Oh yes I saw them. Some were there with their kids as well!
-
His predictions are lazy and predictable. Having said that who cares?
-
Crap. No way will he come here. He is well past his sell by date and he wasn't ever that good.
-
Nothing I can say will be anywhere near adequate. My thoughts are with the family. Absolutely devastating for them.
