  1. Hi

Jill was my older sister. She was 40. She used to post a lot on this board so I thought I would check it mainly to add the funeral details so thank you Pompeylass for passing on, and thanks to everyone else for the kind comments. As you said she could be feisty but that was part of who she was. I and her family don’t really want the alcohol mentioned too much explicitly, but it certainly didn’t help her condition. She went into hospital about 18 months ago with similar problems which she came through, but this time she just got weaker, reacted badly to any medication she was given and ultimately as somebody says contracted the flu that she was just too weak to fight off. The comment about wanting as many there as possibly was mine, and that’s still the case. Many people will be wearing saints shirts to the funeral, and one with “Jill” on the back will be draped over the coffin. I will be talking more about her love of Saints.

Does anybody know what the club offer in terms of gestures in such cases? I was considering something over the tannoy the day after the funeral, unfortunately we will be up taking three points at Villa Park.

Thanks again for the tributes; I will be using a selection (along with those on Facebook) when I talk about her – so please keep them coming.

    Nick.

  2. I see the info is now available. Various levels of ST holders this week and member next. Only 1,500 tickets. I wonder what the chances are of me getting a couple as a lowly member. Any offers from generous ST holders to provide tickets who don't plan on going welcome - I can transfer funds straight over. ;-)

  3. Hi all

What are my chances of getting tickets to this? Member with one maybe two home games this season.

Not sure how many we will get up there - quite a few you'd presume, but likely to be a popular away game especially after the match at The Bridge!

Any idea when they will go on sale to members (if at all?!) - mid November maybe?

    Cheers.

  4. Oh behave you lot. I think Whelk was simply intimating that his profile is not your "typical" football fan - and that's a fact you can't contest. Jesus, nice to see the over-the-top PC brigade going strong. On a slightly unrelated note, he handed me my graduation from UEA (Norwich), so I assume there is some long-term link to the city there.

  5. Bought three earlier and discovered the same. I didn't realise it would be like this, but presumably they are holding back all ST holders' seats until Wednesday? Would probably make more sense (or at least better for members) to have it in three stages rather than two. Got tickets in the middle of the Kingsland (I'm quite fussy over view, even at SMS) but choices were extremely limited - in fact I've had to sit us together in a "column" rather than row! I didn't really fancy risking it until Wednesday, though.

  6. It is steep, but I still fancy going – Villa Park is one ground I’ve never got to. Is anyone who is planning on going able to purchase an extra ticket (or provide season ticket number if not going any happy to share?). I fear it may not make general sale next Wednesday (I have customer number(s), but looks like it’s season ticket holders straight to general sale – no in between).

Happy to send SAE and payment via bank transfer. Only after 1 ticket, travelling to/from London.

    Thanks – nick.hatherley@aonhewitt.com

  7. Saints have provoked many emotions in me over the years but this is the first time I've experienced shame.

    Ditto.

One of the comments on the BBC site today hit home when someone said they used to see us as a loyal club (likes of Le Tiss) but now they hope we go down.

    That hurt.

  8. I loved that t-shirt with the three circular arrows saying something like Caution: Fabrice Fernandes. Always meant to get myself it, I wonder how many people in London would have a clue what it was all about!

  9. Does anyone have a spare ticket for the game? Living and working in London it is impossible for me to get down to SMS to pick one up.

Alternatively, if anyone is going to the ticket office today would they be willing to pick one up for me, will reward them handsomely with beverages of choice!

I am in precisely the same situation, and quite fancy going. If anyone can help at all, let me know. Thanks.

  10. And his claim is that, after the first 7 games, Reading have been the best team. .

I wish people would stop missquoting him. Half the people on here are missing the key point - "long, long way" were his words.

I for one dispute that, and we can all select periods of the season that put us in the best light, so it's an academic exercise ("lies, damn lies and statistics").

Let's see who the "best" team is after next weekend; and even if it turns out to be them, it still won't be by a "long, long way".
