  1. I think its very relevant to drag up threads like this. It very much highlights the knee jerk reactions of some of the posters. Change is not always bad and is always inevitable. These days nobody seems to have enough patience or trust. Mistakes will always happen its human nature, but we should also not forget the fantastic work Les Reed has done over the summer under extraordinary pressure. We are competitive and there is life after Adam, Luke, Rickie and Dejan.

If anything should be learnt it's that we should be more patient.

Little cry baby children come to mind. When things don't go their way they whine, cry and spit their dummies out and then claim afterwards 'it was in the heat of the moment I was upset.'

Amazing to think these posters are fully grown adults.

  2. So, you didn't suggest Shane Long. Glad that's clear. Why do you expect me to suggest players then?

And jolly sweet you think I am not going to wait and see how he does. What does that actually mean in your head?

I try and wait to see how things turn out and then make a judgement. But obviously negative people like yourself just wish to moan and bed wet about anything.

    Quite sad really.

  3. Other posters have made numerous suggestions on here. The players Hull have been linked with to replace long for a start.

I bet if we were signing any of those players for 12 million the same people would be moaning.

  4. Were you saying we should be signing Shane Long this time yesterday, then? Or last week or month?

No but as that has been pointed out it is for the club to decide.

I then try and take the view that you wait and see how a player does before making a conclusion one way or the other.

  5. I didnt realise it was for fans to suggest players for saints to sign

Let me check with my 20+ scouts I employ around the world that have top talent lined up ready to join our march to europe

Knew the biggest moaner would join in at some point....

  6. Not my job. And I am not going to name names for you to shoot down, because if we signed any of those players you'd be raging at anyone being underwhelmed and saying wait and see.

If QPR had signed Long, would you be on here furious that we didn't?

Exactly, you don't have any better suggestions. So instead of moaning how about you wait and see how he turns out and then make a judgement afterwards?

I don't support QPR, only Saints. So I couldn't care less what signings they make.

  7. The main rule is for people with perspective and stuff to describe people being rather underwhelmed by an underwhelming signing at a high price as "constantly moaning and bed wetting". Well done you.

Please tell me who we should sign that would make you not underwhelmed?

  8. Of course it is, and every single contributor to this thread will do exactly that, so what's your point?

My novel idea was maybe to actually wait and see how a player turns out before moaning about him.

  9. I'm putting the Lambert signing into context, not saying we can sign a proven 15 goal a season Prem striker. Lambert was clearly Pardew's first choice marquee signing in L1, so comparison with us signing Shane Long now is ridiculous, as he is definitely not that.

Shane Long has a track record we can all see, so people being underwhelmed have clear information to go on.

But then we were a huge club in League 1. Now we are just a middle sized club in the prem. We aren't going to be signing those sorts of players. If people continue with this mentality that we should be signing marquee signings then prepare to be constantly underwhelmed.

  10. When people decide to roll out the "I remember it being just like this when we signed so-and-so" made - up story, it's funny they always pick players who turned out well, isn't it.

What about "remembering" the response to us signing Mayuka, or Forren, or Gazzaniga, or other players who funnily enough did not prove forum horrible people wrong.

There is nothing wrong with people being underwhelmed with an underwhelming signing with a proven record of being average in the division we are in. It's not the forum's problem, it's down to player and manager to deliver.

So the simple answer is to wait and see how the player turns out.

  11. There was no such response to the signing of Rickie Lambert, you've just made that up to prove a point that doesn't exist. Did one or two people on the forum moan? No doubt they did, but there was no reaction anything like this.

When we signed RL we were signing the best player in the division, and had scored 50 odd goals in his previous two seasons. For Shane Long to be remotely similar in record he'd have needed to be a 15-goals-a-season Prem striker. He ain't.

Who realistically should we sign instead that is a proven PL striker and has scored 15 goals?

  12. Moan moan moan moan, looks like the bed wetters are in force again.

People moan when we sell players for over inflated prices 'We are asset stripping!!'

People moan saying that 'I don't care about the money sitting in the bank I want it spent on players!!'

Now when we are actually bringing players in they moan it's costing too much. 'Why are we spunking 10 million on a keeper?' 'Why have we spent 9 million on an unproven PL striker from the Dutch League?' 'Why have we signed Chelsea and Inter reserves on loan?' Why haven't we be spent over 12 million on an unproven Argentinian defender?'

  13. Everyone is entitled to a view St Jersey, even people like you. You might think you have the moral high ground, you might think you are superior to 70's Mike.

I am a customer and I have a choice about what I do with my time and money.

Having spent £1200 on season tickets for my son and I would I refuse to attend matches? Possibly. What is happening is a disgrace and I do think the club will lose fans through this.

What are you on about? I'm saying the club has seen far worse in its time and has survived so I don't see the point of getting upset over the sales of players. Yes it's disgusting, yes the board are inept, yes the board are a joke, yes it's not fair on fans. But that's life, we move on and so will Saints.

  14. And i am one of those but this is unprecedent not only at saints but in football' date=' mass exodus has occurred at leeds before they went pop, even relegated teams do not lose this many in 3 months[/quote']

Yup so it's another saga in Saints long history to get through, no point getting worked up over it.

  15. But we could have stopped them. If we'd shown some ambition and said to Pochettino we'd give him £50m to build a squad to crack into the top four, he'd have stayed and so would the players. Our fate was sealed the minute the board told him that Shaw and Lallana were being sold.

We had a massive opportunity at the end of last season. The board have failed us and missed the opportunity of a lifetime, because they didn't believe we could make the jump into the too four. Weak.

We were never gonna make the top 4. Stop living in a dream.

We are not a big club and never will be, why can't people realise this?

  16. Seriously, grow a pair. Players go, players come. Managers go, managers come. Chairman go, chairman come. Owners go, owners come.

But it's still Southampton football club, we're still supporters of that same club. Since when has a club been just about the players we have? We'll have new hero's next year.

    This.

Especially the forum posters who say 'I have been following Saints for 20, 30, 40, 50 years and in all my time supporting Saints I've never seen......'

We've been through players, managers, relegations, admin, promotions in that time yet we are still here.

  17. The current board remind me of the Vichy Government.

At least Cortese and MoPo had the integrity to say no **** off I am not doing that to the club. Les Greed has certainly lived up to his big reputation in the game ....

    Ok then...
