Hi Saints fans.
It's brett from thepompeyforum. Whose the owner of the site these days, wanted to chat you about the online safety bill.
This is from Sunderlands ready to go board, I have concerns about football forums after taking advice.
A check on the OfCom site said my forum is subject to the law.
Happy Christmas to you all.
Unless something changes in the Online Safety Act that is, as it is due to take full effect in March 2025.
RTG despite being relatively small falls foul of the majority of the conditions and continuing to provide the service will simply not be practical with the resources we have (both people and monetary wise).
In a nutshell, we have to do lots of risk assessments before that date, have lots of written procedures in place to deal with them, delete any content which is illegal, but also have a complaints process in place so that anyone who complains about their content being removed has that addressed promptly. We will also have to prevent children accessing the platform and put age verification measures in place and will have to scan uploaded content to check it isn't harmful. There is a whole lot more to it than that but hopefully you get the idea - it will all just be too onerous. The potential fine for not complying is £18 million or 10% of company turnover whichever is greater. -
What a moment as a saints fan, scoring a goal and celebrating at the Fratton End. He lived the dream, right there!
Quality from Ings last night!
I had a £2.50 bet that Ings would get a brace at 11/1 on Skybet
Won £30 - so softened the blow abit

Every fan can pretend that they are happy in Division Three but it isn't 1972 and Eisner needs the increased income from The Championship.
He is now heading for three consecutive seasons of financial losses just at a time when the gulf between divisions opens up further.
They may well have some glory days when they grab a result against bigger clubs like Barnsley and Luton, but the owner needs income - and for the business side of planning and financing the required new stadium, last night was a total disaster.
Fake news, you only get £4.3m extra revenue in the CCC and the wage bill would have to increase by at least that to not immediately go down. Most Championship clubs are operating on a loss I suspect and I am sure they realise this.
The EFL’s current TV deal amounts to £90m a year – just 3% of the Premier League’s £2.8bn a year, shared among all 72 clubs, although the 24 in the Championship receive the bulk of it. From 2019 an agreed new five-year deal will pay £120m annually. In agreements struck to govern the relationship between the Premier League, which was a breakaway in 1992 from more equal sharing in the Football League, the top flight pays £100m in “solidarity” to lower leagues, including £4.3m to the Championship clubs.

Good to see the Sunderland fans on Ready To Go raising issues about being not even able to view the Pompey forums, and the excuse is that they would be all trolling like the Scummas, if they could post, but no explanation as to why they cant even read and laugh at the ridiculous P****y are bigger than Sunderland rubbish.
Not true on my board. I've approved a few from up that way recently.

Where is that p Rick Merovingian, not been on here in a bit, is he hiding ?
Still browse sweetcheeks

you have no balls Mero, you cant face any form of derision or mickey taking. You have a long history of only showing up if Pompey are doing well. Apparently you wont let anyone on your site who show any negatives. Sad really as Im sure you're a decent person.
Come on here when you are on a bad run , take the punches and you will get respect. Take a leaf out of Mackrills book,
Members on TPF do not want you lot on there. I run the board for them. Any pompey fans can come on and be negative and there are a few of them that rile people but they do not get banned unless they do not abide by board rules and behave in an adult manner.
Am quite happy to take critisism. We've still not a lot to shout about and the less said about the previous incarnation of the club the better. It is what it is.
-
Let's see if Mero decides to pop by next week if the scoreline remains the same...
Still here lol. Can't go all season unbeaten. We go again. On our way back to our rightful place......in the championship lol
-
They gotta go up this year, or trouble on the horizon once more. Basically new ground hinges on being in championship. Could be a mess.

Fake news. And no I've not just popped up coz we are doing ok. I browse this thread for the chuckles.

It's the return of the once-hero-now-a-villain Paul Cook to Fortress Fatpipes, live on Sky, let's hope Wigan put up a better fight than Oxford did.
Suspect we will put up more of a fight against Wigwam than you did against West Ham
We don't expect to win and we won't make playoffs so abit of a non descript game to be honest.

So is it true Gao has leveraged £210m worth of debt to buy you and expects premiership income to repay it?
-
Ask him if you can register for his forum then you will find out what of kn ob he is...
Last post as this is my 3rd - I am not the one that says you cannot go on POL its a members decision. So the kn ob comment is null and void IMO. Its not my forum its the members forum as far as I am concerned.
Most of you just want to go on POL so you can cut and paste to here, as that's what used to happen in the previous carnation is it not? Anyway that's me done prolly for another few months.

So, you're not in favour of football clubs who spend beyond their means on players to win trophies (for example)?
We spent well over our means with money that we and our owner at the time did not have. We had no major assets like ground or training ground etc. Other (not all) clubs have excellent/above average infrastructure and owners that actually have money so if it all goes tits up are generally successful enough on and off the pitch they get bought out by genuine people, although as we know there are exceptions
If your asking if we effectively bought the cup, yes we did with money we did not have but am sure we are not the only example - however, we are one of the only ones that went pop because of this
What matters now is we have a chance to improve our off the pitch stuff and this is WAY more important than success on the pitch if we are to have brighter future
-
£1M is going to be spent on FP this season, and £4M needs to be spent over the next few years
And no more money for the playing budget when the takeover goes through. That'll upset them
Doubt it - we know Eisner is not going to spunk loads of money on the playing budget - he has said so himself. Infrastructure, academy and commercial revenue streams will be the priority. No doubt if he wants to make a profit he will have to spend to get to the premiership but it will not be a big bang approach and I for one am happy about that. We have had too many owners risk the club by spunking money we do not have.
I would rather see the club build slowly by improving stuff off the pitch first, particularly as we know the championship is notorious for clubs losing a lot of money. Establish ourselves in L1 this season then push next season is what most of us would like to see.
No doubt like at all clubs you will get the idiots on the news site slating the new regime for not spending huge, but most of us on POL take a more sensible line and a more long term view.

Cook out, Jackett in and Wigan have paid us. Turned out nice.

Wiles disease here he comes:

In contrast with
As for Stevens, Sheff Utd reportedly trippling his wages, we cannot afford that so we let him go and find a replacement. That is football.

Are POL users mostly shareholders? If so I'm slightly surprised they are willing to give up the fan ownership at the first sign of a stadium repair bill. I thought their was great pride in being different? Is an extra million quid a year to keep **** park safe really too much of a chunk out of the playing budget to swallow?
So couple of points. It's not just the stadium issue. If you look at the cost to be competitve in league 1 and the huge amount required in the championship we need external investment let alone fratton park issues.
In terms of money back to shareholders the genreal consensus on pol is that we put money in to save the club. No one expected money back and it is known you could not expect to make a profit bar a small amount of interest by law.
Read the pack. It gives you all the figures with regards to vein competitive in league 1 and championship and thats without stadium issues

Although unfortunately POL is now a closed shop you can still get a feel for the way the thinking is going here
I would say that 95% of POL are of the opinion that provided some questions regarding the ground and some enhancement on his vision of the club are answered its a yes vote
-
To be honest, most of us are totally embarrassed. Finishing 71st in the league is not a reason for celebration FFS

You spend your time googling forum members' user names on the off chance that they might be scummers?
What all of 1 second to google - yeah lots of time wasted there then.
Members do not want you lot on there, their board I abide by their wishes. You only want to go on there so you can cut and paste stuff all over here anyway
-
Unfortunately they're not accepting new registrations on Pompey Online, if anyone still has their account on there, an update from Banker would be welcome indeed
Well you are going to have to try harder than your very own camdijk
A quick google weeded him out. Led me straight here
-
talk about giving it out but cant take it lol.
Personally I would be happy to debate chat with fans of other clubs if they were not giving it the big one.
same here Nick but the majority of the members on POL do not want you lot on there - so as far as I am concerned democracy rules even if it is my board
To be fair its not surprising as all you lot did was copy and paste posts to here and then talk ****** ha ha
