Similar to a few on here. I think we'll start terribly. We always do but this time there will be reasons. Half the squad wont know if they'll even be here for the rest of the season but more than that, we have an awful losing mentality. That will be shown by Che and Armstrong both struggling despite clearly being more than capable in this league.
The style of play will take a while to imbed. And our home crowd will be toxic when we give away (or nearly give away) sloppy goals.
We will pick up in form from Christmas onwards but leave ourselves too much to do and finish 9th.

I'd like that but what we'd give for a proper striker. Just hope it's not too much 'possession football' passing sideways at the back and Baz holding on to the ball for 30 seconds. There's got to be that forward intent. I can see a lot of teams holding back on the press and effectively say 'you're meant to be the better side, you come to us'.
If that's what you're hoping for...be prepared to be disappointed.

The King Alf on Old Northam Road is back?
Who remembers the after game entertainment they used to put on upstairs? Are pubs still allowed to do that nowadays?
Ah those were the days. I was just a teenager and my dad would take me in there. By the time I hit my early 20s it was just a normal boozer on match days.
Seem to remember they tried the same at The Royal Oak a few times. Would never get away with it now!

Something that grates on me is how accepting we are as a fanbase these days. People clapping the players off after absolute dross. I’ll be honest, I walked 3/4 around the inside of the stadium on Thursday to give some verbal to the directors. I was the only one who made a peep. Everyone just continued to clap the players down the tunnel. They get away with it far too easily.

Twitter reacting how you’d expect. Should have had 3 pens and Oxford should have had 2 reds so all the refs fault. The pompey job is the hardest in football and of course, they don’t want to go up anyway.
how long have the been in the bottom 2 divisions now? A decade?
Genuinely think theyll be in financial difficulties again soon.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the club were actively looking to sell him. Get a bidding war going.
Ings himself knows he would need to go somewhere where he plays every week and that will be the main thing. If a top club can offer that, he’s gone.

Glad he’s ok and on the mend again. He had the odd rough patch and shocking game but for the most part we were brilliant under him.
He raised the profile of the club. He had a great arrogance about him that he fully warranted. I always wonder how we would have done if we kept him. And by all accounts I’ve heard, he and his brother would have liked to stay.

Interesting thread here about why L1&2 won’t finish.
Also, play offs won’t happen. Even if they did and it was on points per game, pompey finish 7th so miss out. So pretty much guaranteed another year for them down there [emoji23]
I’m so jealous.

Uh oh. Not only will the loss in revenue cause a crisis for the club, but think of the billions it brings in for the local economy each game!!

He also completely transformed the New England Patriots from being a nothing franchise to winning the superbowl 6 superbowl wins.
For the NY revolution, they ve been in 5 finals in 25 years.
He’s a huge Patriots fan. A season ticket holder for over 20 years before investing.
The Revolution is more of a box tick. They may have got to a few finals, but most MLS teams have. It’s no competition compared to the PL. Seems to have very little interest comparatively.

If it is the Kraft group, that would be immense.
All that group is associated with winners.
Talking to a fan of their “soccer” team New England Revolution, they’re not overly pleased. Seems they’re ignored and have been promised a stadium for years that hasn’t come to fruition, apparently.
Seems Robert Kraft has also been put off investing in the Premier League due to the lack of salary cap.

The ones that stand out are;
Newcastle away in 2013. I was getting picked up at 5am in our mini bus so needed to get an early night. Decided to go to the pub with a mate for “a couple” which ended up in on a full night out in town. Stumbled home at 3am with a lovely lady who kept me awake until 4:55am when I suddenly jumped up, got dressed and left her in my room to get my lift. Never saw her again, could easily have robbed me.
Beers all the way up there, beers all night and got back to the hotel around 4am the following morning, then had to go to the game. No idea how I managed to stay awake that long but I wanted to sleep through the match. I do remember being in a nightclub that night which was pretty much 100% saints fans and was a brilliant laugh.
Then Liverpool away the same year. A huge group of us rented a ridiculously massive lucrative apartment. Why they let us have it I’ll never know. Also the minibus breaking down in Liverpool, having to taxi to Manchester airport to rent a car to drive back. Fortunately I wasn’t driving but there’s no way my mate was in a fit state to. That was a horrendous journey home and then I had to move house the next day.
Finally, San Siro. Just a surreal time.

A number of shops are starting to refuse to handle cash transactions.
My dad is a cabbie with COPD (we’re trying our best to get him to stay in) and he won’t accept cash now. Card payments only and you have to sit in the back.

Portsmouth officially eclipse Millwall and Southampton to set another Wembley attendance record after surpassing 50,000 ticket landmark
It’s official – Pompey have set the record to become the biggest single fanbase present for a domestic fixture at new Wembley as a neutral venue.
More than 50,000 tickets have now been snapped up for the Blues’ the Leasing.com Trophy final against Salford on Sunday, April 5.
After going on general sale on Friday, the Fratton faithful have eagerly continued to secure their seats.
And it means Pompey have eclipsed the previous record established by Millwall in May 2009 at the League One play-off final against S****horpe.
According to the Lions’ official website, 49,661 fans were present for Kenny Jackett’s side’s 3-2 defeat.
Other reports claim Southampton presently own the record, following their March 2010 clash with Carlisle in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.
On that occasion, 44,000 Southampton seats were sold, although there were objections when further tickets were not made available.
It means the Blues are primed to sell their initial allocation of 50,300 and will ask for a bigger quota.
There’s unlikely to be anything stopping the FA giving the green light for more tickets to be given to boost the growing show of force at the national stadium.
Salford have taken a 3,000 allocation for the final and segregation will have to be considered, but that is not expected to provide an obstacle to Pompey boosting their number.
Pompey sold around 42,000 seats for last season’s Checkatrade Trophy final against Sunderland, which they claimed on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra-time.
The Blues still also hold the record for new Wembley’s largest football crowd since its reopening 13 years ago.
There were 89,874 present when Harry Redknapp’s side beat Cardiff City 1-0 in the 2008 FA Cup final.
Surely the bestest fans in the world can take more than the faaackin scummers? 54,000 to beat.

In fairness there were half and half scarves outside the London stadium on Saturday so I don't think you can lay that at Pompey's door. They're everywhere.
Not according to the mighty pompey fans. Fans of such a proper football club who wouldn’t dream of buying this soft PL crap. But there we have it. One big game and they’re lapping it up.

Not just applauding them. They’ll be wearing their colours.
Half and half scarves. The thing they said they’d never have at their “proper” football club.

Wonder if they’ll be applauding the opposition again like the embarrassing saps they are?

Do these JPT scores even register on the vidiprinter these days?
Lots of them have been skipping home games so should be able to afford their big day out.
No idea who they are playing I’m that interested.
JPT was the glory days when it was a professional tournament and not littered with kids teams.
Now it’s the Leasing.com trophy and it’s possible for an academy to win it.

Strange. Last time they made the final they were only going “to take my kids to experience Wembley” and “a one off day out”. This time it’s to show the support for the club but not the trophy. Whatever fits to boycott the boycott

The atmosphere has reached an all time low recently. Understandable with the crap we’ve had to put up with for so long.
The atmosphere has been fantastic at times in that stadium. Those who don’t think it makes a difference are incredibly naive.
Something needs to change.

The new Spurs ground is lovely to look at (inside) but my god, I’ve been 3 times and it’s got to be the quietest ground in the PL at the moment. And that is saying something.
Liked how easy it was to get a beer before the game and at half time. Decent beer too. And very well priced.
I dont really mind our stadium, although it desperately needs a wash! It’s a bit boring to look at but it creates a good noise, and at least it’s central. Would hate to have an out of town one like Reading or Brighton.
Safe standing is a must at some point. No idea how they’ll manage it. The concourses are also way too small, not sure what they can do about that either. Spurs must be the only ground where fans turn up early to get in a drink inside the ground, which is credit to them for pricing it right and making it a good place to go.

Lots of goals for Saints this season

In theory we have loads of goals in the team. Che, Armstrong, Tella have all done it at this level. Stu, Alcaraz should chip in with a decent amount too.
However, we just wont create the clear cut chances required.
Previously in this league we had Lambert, Sharp, Barnard, Guly and Connonlly. We created so much for them, and their conversion rate was decent. They'd score the half chances too. Far better than we have now.
