  1. Used the new junction for the first time today (as a driver). Its utter bobbins. Car in front had a near miss because they interpreted the green (coming from Saltmarsh Road) as having priority to turn right across traffic coming from Albert Road North. And drivers seem to have an utter inability to pass offside to offside, is it no longer taught or tested? Lack of filter boxes/lights is mental, what was it like on Saturday post-match?

  2. We have these restrictions in place but never enforce them - we do enforce notice periods though and put people on "gardening leave" - even quite low down on the ladder. Basic notice period is 1 month for even the most junior minion, running up to 6 months for exec level

  3. Just one of the long line of people the entertainment industry consumes:

Justin Bieber is doing a pretty good job of going loopy

    James Dean

    River Phoenix

    The Coreys

    Charlotte Church

    Drew Barrymore

    Jodie Foster

    Brooke Shields

(last three all exploited by their mothers and encouraged to appear in stuff that's borderline illegal today - see also to a lesser extent Chloe Grace Moretz)

  4. What isn't clear currently is who is authorised to agree transfer deals on behalf of the club - Katarina is non-exec chairman so its not her and she won't be handling negotiations. Can't see MoPo doing those either. Who do we have at the club with the necessary experience to handle negotiations? Les Reed?

  5. Without him, we'd be playing either Pompey or Eastleigh this season and for that I'm grateful.

Didn't always agree with his decisions or manner of doing business but can't disagree with the results he's delivered and his tenure has given me memories to match those of the Lawrie Mac era.

He might have been a monumental **** at times but he was our monumental ****, got us punching above our weight and the foundations he has laid for the future mean that the club is secure now that he has gone. Staplewood is a done deal and all we need to do is keep investing in the Academy to ensure top-flight survival. Perhaps now we won't reach the dizzying heights of CL but we can expect cup runs and maybe sneaking a Europa place from time to time (so basically on a level with Everton). Happy with that.

Key is stability and keeping hold of MoPo and players until at least end of season. Assuming if he stays in football he will now go to the AC Milan job, and I can't see any of our current crop being the sort of player they would sign so hopefully we can keep the squad together.

Maybe he will be back with a consortium to buy the club if Liebherr does put it up for sale - he certainly has the nous and contacts to put a deal together.

  6. Shaw will be in contention for Thursday, according to his Twitter. He was fine for today but club were being cautious.

Boruc and Clyne both trained this week

    Fonte was tactical

Osvaldo will be having a meeting in a darkened room with Don Cortese where he'll be made an offer he can't refuse

  7. Any idea if I can take my BT Sport Youview box and use it on a non-BT line (and get BT Sport). Thinking of dropping my box off at my parents so they can watch Saints vs Chelsea whilst I'm at the game.

I'm guessing I couldn't just use my viewing card in their box? (they have Talk Talk Youview box & Talk Talk broadband)

  8. Remember reading about this as a lad in the history of the club published around 1978.

In the 1922-23 Div 2 season our record was:

    P42 W14 D14 L14 F42 A42 for a total of 42 points.

Wondering if any other team has done this before or since - the very definition of an average season :)

Not possible now due to 3 points for a win...

  9. Might seem that way from the outside, but its not that new. Cycling teams have been using their own chefs at hotels for years. THey literally rock up on the morning of the stage/race, boot out the hotel chefs and get on with cookinh their own teams food. Its one less variable for the management to worry about, the riders (or player in Saints case) are getting a decent nutritious meal, and they know what they are eating will be prepared to their liking. Got a feeling a few of the bigger teams (Sky etc) do the mattress thing as well. An athlete recovers best on a decent nights sleep, and a familiar mattress aids good sleep.

Yep, the big cycling teams bring mattresses with them. And I'm sure if you ask Spurs about the risks of using hotel chefs they'll have a view on how much it can cost you (although I think the infamous Spurs-WHU match was later proven not be as a result of hotel food poisoning)

  10. From way back in the 80s, appears to have drawn all sorts of stories out of the woodwork...

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/10/mick-mills-denies-stoke-sexual-assault-claims-george-blackstock

Thing is, whilst clearly wrong and abusive, this was completely endemic back then. Remember this was still the era of corporal punishment in school, which took the form of whatever abuse the teacher felt like doling out (at least it did at WPBS)

Sad to see Mick Mills drawn in to this, would think its almost impossible to prove after all this time.

  11. Drivers will select a number and keep it for the duration of their career. Previous season WC will have option of carrying the number 1 plate for the next season. Granted this works well for bike racing (and NASCAR) particularly from a merchandising perspective, but I wonder if it will for F1. Numbers aren't highly visible at present, unlike NASCAR or the bikes...

Double points will be awarded for the last race of the season. So that means 4th place in Abu Dhabi will be worth more than a win at Monaco, Spa, Silverstone, etc.

Looks like Abu Dhabi will have the final race for the foreseeable future because its popular with teams and sponsors so its likely to find teams optimising their cars for that circuit.
