United also had a lot of pace with Rashford, James and Pereira and Vestergaard was motm that game. So I hope we don’t drop Vest purely due to a short-term focus. He should play and build chemistry with a settled defence and I still have faith that he will be quality for us or at the very least competent (similar to Dunk or something- a good no nonsense regular CB (that we paid £18m for!)). I would not trust him in a back 4 though I guess.
I know it is Bournemouth at home and I too also want 4 at the back and an attacking line up, but I think we will play a 3 at the back.
Gunn
Bednarek Vestergaard Danso
Cedric Romeu PEH Bertrand
Djenepo Boufal
Adams
Although at the same time I feel this is harsh on JWP and Redmond- we can save them for Fratton or something!
It feels to good to find it tough to choose the team- a very welcome problem for Ralph.
RH won’t drop JWP. HTH. x

Can we please stop talking about TCWTB.
-
Just about sums up them up. Yet again, normal rules don’t apply. They ought to be embarrassed.
As above, if they can’t guarantee the safety of players under the normal rules of the game, they should withdraw. This is a game of football not downtown Damascus.
-
Absolutely unbelievable that rules have to be changed to accommodate the supporters of a football club who might attack an opposing team's player. I guess that nothing happened to the toothless bloke that hit out at a Sunderland player. If Portsmouth cannot control their supporters then they should have to forfeit the game.
Agreed

Wonder how many were bought by people hoping it'd help them qualify for Fratton and had no intention of going
Precisely none, I should think.
-
the amount of shirters that would be in there
You mean other Saints fans, yes?
-
Well, yes, kind of supporting the point that championship Fulham appear to have better midfield squad depth than we do. It is a bit of a worry ...
Of course, completely supports that view. In much the same way as Jack Rose not playing for Walsall means they have better goalkeeping options than Saints.
-
For all the rights and wrongs of Leminas performances and transfer, it does now seem very odd that we let Reed go out on loan given our lack of strength in depth in midfield.
If Smallbone or Slattery we're thought highly enough of to be better back-up options than Reed, stranger still that neither featured in the Fulham squad, especially with PEH playing left back!
This would be the same Reed that’s made one start for Fulham?

You could replacement linekar with a voiceover and no one would care.
Imagine if MOTD was offered at £2-5 per month with Linekar presenting or free without. How many would pay a tiny amount for his services?
Attenborough for example, would generate cash IMO
You’re a frigging idiot. Attenborough would be a **** host of MOTD.

Still loads of tickets left for this especially in blocks 10, 18 and 28, not surprisingly at the rip off prices.
Going for 1-2 defeat again, can't see us scoring more than 1 and against decent opposition our defence isn't going to keep another clean sheet.
When you say loads left, you mean about 300, or 1% of the total available. I guess you took up the guy who was offering a ticket for £30?
When you consider Utd don’t have any world class players, I agree the £65 is steep though.

Interesting reaction from their training ground this morning.
Very excitable bunch.
Hopefully it takes their minds off the next few league matches

If Obafemi is fit and we are wanting for pace we could play:
Gunn
Valery Danso Bednarek Bertrand
Romeu Hoj
Boufal Ings Obafemi
Adams
in a fluid 4231.
JWP will play. Banker.

Can I just say how much I dislike Everton’s back to front shirt.

Beware all owners trying to turn a quick profit.
Ralph worked a miracle in keeping us up considering where Hughes left us. If we had gone down, with our huge wage bill, and on Championship revenue levels I think it's not that far fetched to say we could well be looking at administration by now. Certainly Gao doesn't have the funds to have been able to bail us out.
Absolute rubbish. A club with no debts, parachute payments and player relegation clauses, leaving player sales aside.

They are trying to discourage new fans, especially from overseas. I had relatives visiting from abroad and bought membership cards for them which they used to go to the Koln game but the club wouldn't let them buy tickets for the Liverpool game with their cards nor let me buy them for them using mine. Meanwhile black market tickets were selling on StubHub for £200.
Would they not have needed a purchase history for the Liverpool game? I’m assuming a friendly wouldn’t count.

Amazing!!! I've been a member for 25 years. This year they wrote to me to says that as I was living overseas they wouldn't be renewing my membership, as they wanted to give membership priority to people in the local area. I was completely stunned. I could understand the logic if we were a club who were selling out games every week and demand for tickets was so high that they had to prioritise, but to withdraw my membership without any real explanation other than the fact that I now live in Ireland seems absolutely absurd.
I wrote back to the club asking why 25 years of membership is no longer seen as important to them. I'm awaiting a response...
That seems unfair.

Which makes it even odder that Brighton vans were booing Valery, for what they saw as semingly going ''OTT' and getting their player sent off.
Football fans can be so dumb.
I watched with my son and his partner, a recent convert to the Saints family. After the red card he said to her to watch now for Valery to get booed for being the victim of a horrid tackle. Brighton fans duly obliged. I dare say we have our own share of idiots who would react similarly.

Unfortunately, Hesketh was a young one who was put in early and got smashed at Burnley. Never recovered IMO.

Agree the Amex is pretty special, but the Tottenham stadium will blow you away......
I’ve not been to either, but I’m sure you’re right. The Amex is 10 years newer than SMS, and cost 4 times as much to build. Funded of course by Tony Bloom who has provided loans of £222m, they are unsecured and at zero interest. Lucky Brighton. Unlikely Bloom will ever Make a return on his investment, not that it appears he’s bothered about that. Given their previous owners BHA hit the jackpot with Bloom.
WHL is a whole different league.
-
Are you suggesting that Brighton fans have better judgement than us?
Not “us”, just the two people who currently rate Boufal above last year’s player of the season, and Saturday’s MotM. Boufal is a mercurial talent, no question, but comes nowhere near the work rate, possession retention and teamwork of Redmond. If he did, he would be a £50m player rather than most being happy to get our money back on him in the last window.
-
After the game I heard a Brighton fan say that Redmond was one player that he’d definitely like them to buy. What he actually said was “I think we should get Redmond”.
He never said anything about Boufal.
Garth Crooks picks Redmond for his team of the week. He didn’t pick Boufal. Case closed I’d say.
-
Tbh I think boufal is vastly better then redmond and it’s nothing new he always has been, but for some reason found himself out of favour Hughes didn’t help,, boufal can beat players with ease,, redmond actually isn’t that good at going past his man but he looks good when there’s plenty of space and he can carry the ball rapidly up the pitch like he did a couple of times Saturday..but overall boufal can do the hard things with ease and can be much more creative because he has that X factor to to make things happen
I sometimes think I watch a completely different game to some people.
-
Could they not just switch the tie to their opponents ground?
-
I see Reed has managed 11 minutes of game time at Fulham. Not sure he is, or ever was, the answer for us.
whats wrong with our strickers
