  1. Don't think so. Cork didn't start yesterday because it wasn't his sort of game and NA knew that, and as evidenced by his poor performance when he came on, was right about it.

What it shows is that NA has the confidence in his judgement and tactical knowledge to drop one of our better players when he doesn't feel like it's right for them to play. An arbitrary rotation system would go completely against the way NA plays tactically, fielding the right players in the right shape to deal with what's in-front of us.

The first comment in bold MAY be true but I think the the second comment in bold is an unfair justification. Very difficult to come on late on in a game of that nature

  2. I'd prefer to stay down in The Football League if this happened.

same here - i don't know how they still draw crowds to the closed league systems in the us, it's madness. sport is no longer sport over there now, it's (unentertaining) "entertainment". i went to watch the yankees a few months back and people were more interested in eating and the "crowd cam" etc on the big screen than the match! different culture

think a closed euro super league more likely imo, and let they're welcome to it!

  3. Which direction does the correlation run - i assume you mean that a lack of atmosphere leads to impotent performances; but it could equally mean that impotent performances lead to a lack of atmosphere?

At any rate, disagree that we never looked like scoring despite tons of possession. Maybe the final ball was loose at times but we genuinely stretched them with a lot of our play.

The old causality chesnut rearing its head again..

  4. Did very well today, had same sort of impact as at Cardiff. Defenders must hate playing against him, keeps ball very close to his feet at all times, despite moving it quickly and making darting direction changes. Like his crossing as well, love the old dinked cross from the touchline!

  5. Chaplow, de Ridder, Hooiveld and Cork have been tweeting about this and posted pictures on their twitter profiles over the last few days. Also (as usual) some nice banter between the guys. Twitter is a hotbed for rumours, but it is also a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of the everyday lives of footballers. And by the looks of it, they really do seem to enjoy each other's company...

I get that impression as well, also good to see that they are just a normal bunch of lads (shock horror!) - found Jos' comments/pictures about the PS3 controller De Ridder gave him to use against him on Fifa/CoD well funny! My mate did that to me recently

  6. And Baisingstoke? I often take the train down from London and a few supporters pile on from there. It is a very interesting subject though as long term teams will always be restricted by the level of support the city can offer. Regional capitals like Barcelona and Madrid will always be massive clubs because of the level of interest outside if their city.

London clubs also have the corporate angle as well as tourists, and recent immigrants. I had some corporate tickets for Arsenal last year and I realised they will always have the funds to steal our best young players as there were so many people there like me, on a corporate freebee. Companies don't mind paying loads for a couple of club level tickets with a meal included as it is a tax write off and a good night out for their clients. I know other cities have companies as well but there are obviously more in London, especially big spending city types with international links.

Third party entertaining isn't tax deductible...

  7. Not really a huge fan of half time entertainment but did anyone reading this thread see the entertainment at Leicester away? They had a relay race of 6 saints kids and 6 Leicester kids running around the perimeter of the pitch. It was actually very funny and the first time I have seen the whole crowd properly get into the entertainment.

Ha, yeah that was really good! Remember her http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Walkers-Stadium-cocktease/169762436415500 as well??

  8. What a legend, it's such a shame more people don't share his outlook on life! As bad as some might think they have it in this country, they've got to realise they really have won the lottery of life being born here - less of the blame, moan, blame, moan culture please! :)
