  1. Went to St Marys College. Mate had a trial for Southampton Boys with Ted Bates.

Grandad took me to my first game in 1962 He'd supported them for over 50 years. So have I now.

    I also went to St Mary's (1962 - 1968) lived in Hythe.

Hamilton Saint is another that went to St Mary's the same time also living in Hythe.

I think first game we lost at home to Plymouth 1961 (think keeper was injured and Terry Paine went in goal ) been a lifelong fan and now a STH in Kingsland

  2. just a shame that something like this attracts the reaction it does.

Just wanted to post something some people (not everyone I accept) might find vaguely interesting..

Thanks Duncan I am enjoying the book and always welcome any updates or new stories.

  3. Cardiff City open discussions to sell £8.5m summer signing Andreas Cornelius back to FC Copenhagen - for a loss of about £5m, reports Wales Online.

The 20-year-old has failed to score for the Bluebirds in 11 matches since arriving from the Danish club.

These big striker signings haven't worked out for many.

From what I can tell, the only 'big' summer striker signing who has made an impact is Negredo.

Soldado, Ricky-van-whatsit, Osvaldo, Cornelious, Bony (to a degree), Altidore. All cost big, big money and have all been pretty frustrating for their clubs. Rumour also has it that Ricky-van-whatsit is being made available for transfer.

Agree with most of that but not Bony, would have him here in a heartbeat, even playing in a struggling team (relatively speaking) I'm betting he will outscore our present strikers this season

  4. Definitely going to! My friend Simon Care play melodeon with Edward II and other bands which include Simon from Fairport. Have always missed Cropredy as it coincides with the end of Sidmouth Folk Week. Will make a special effort next year!

Ashamed to say Edward 11 have somehow passed me by but I'm now in catch up mode and will have to invest in some of their recordings.

Strange that I've always intended to do Sidmouth but not made it so far.

  5. Unfortunately no Richard Thompson this year, he's just finished the Americana tour with Wilco, My Morning Jacket and Bob Dylan.

Some bands I'd never seen before that really impressed were Edward 11, Danny & The Champions Of The World, Brooke Williams and The Peatbog Faeries, I'm sure there will be lots on youtube.

Alice Cooper blew everyone else away on Thursday night and really got the crowd going while Fairport played an impressive 3 hours to close the show last night with guest appearance from Tom Robinson.

Great experience helped by lovely weather.

Miserableoldgit - put it on your bucketlist.

  6. What needs to happen now is THEVMAN or Guan to come on and say something is imminent. Chaps?

Don't hold you breath a few weeks ago VMAN asked the last person on here to put the light out, I imagine he'd had enough of the petty bickering and point scoring that ruin so many threads.
