  1. Didn't really know anything about him, just thought he may be a good trialist ?

Thats what i thought about Tyson, surely his games will be limited.

May be worth a go, I know a few Leeds fans and they said he is pacy, but thats it.

Definitely agree that we need to get some quick players in though.

  2. Leon Mckenzie

    Carl Hoefkens

    Sam Sodje

    David Connolly

4 decent players who could do a job for us and wouldn't be too unrealistic in terms of signing them.

Most of the others are either gash or unrealistic signings.

  3. He was our most consistent player for a season but I don't think he'd be tall enough to cope with being a centre back in L1. The lower down the leagues you go, the more emphasis is placed on scoring from set pieces. His lack of height was seldom exposed in open play because he was usually well positioned and could get off the ground well when running to meet the ball. He was exposed at free kicks and corners though where he had to get off the ground without the momentum of running forwards.

At the time, it wasn't so much of an issue because we had Kenwyne Jones who is rarely beaten to a header. Rasiak often did a good job at set pieces as well. I could never understand why Burley always seemed to replace Jones with Wright-Phillips with 20 minutes to go. We never defended as well with him off the pitch.

As it stands, our squad is not blessed with height. For that reason alone. Paul Wotton will be playing a lot of games in midfield unless Pardew can get in some big lumps at centre back. Chris Baird would not even be on his signing radar in that regard.

    Agreed, good post.

Would probably prefer Baird as RB over Murty tbh, but it's unlikely he'd come anyway.

We need to sign a couple of 6ft5inch brutes and a couple of quick players with a bit of quality. All of our players seem to be slow and lightweight.

  4. I know it's only pre-season and I know it's only a Saints XI... but conceding 5 goals with Perry and Lancashire in defence (who will probably play most games in league one for us, given Thomas' fitness record).. oh dear.

  5.

Fail to see how this doesn't make the top 6

"Take Argentina's 26-pass goal against Serbia & Montenegro at the last World Cup. It was a supreme effort, involving six very decent touches at the end, but Serbia were an apathetic shower and the first 20 passes, under no pressure at all, were little more than an exercise in culturally legitimated indulgence. The number of passes before a goal is about as relevant as the number of notches on a bedpost. It's quality rather than quantity that counts. If you get both, so much the better."

  6. If that is the 11, I'd rather go with:

    Davis

    Murty Perry Thomas Molyneux

    James Wotton Gillett Mills

    Lallana

    Rasiak

I'd rather we went with that too.

Hopefully Pardew can bring in a centre back, a left back, a centre mid, two wingers and two strikers.
