  1. A few Everton fans have said that he's hit the ceiling with us, but it's highly improbable that he'll surpass that with Everton - which is practically a top 4 position.

They're also under the impression that we think we're the dog's ******** now. Sure, they're a bigger club than us and the past two seasons mean little in our historical/future standings, but the reality is that they're just another stepping stone when compared to potential opportunities, and it's hardly a massive step.

Arsenal, Barcelona and the Netherlands are strong possibilities when the inevitable happens. Not Everton.

  2. Isn't the point that someone will underperform compared to expectations. You don't know at this point who they will be, but almost 100% guaranteed someone will.

I bet you Mane, Pelle and J-Rod don't all score 12+ goals next season.

On the contrary, it is likely that someone will exceed those expectations, but it's easier to average the goals among the three.

  3. Pessimism aside, let's look at this from a different angle. If we had've kept Lambert and signed Long for some added depth, this signing would have been viewed as a good one. Pelle may turn out to be an adequate replacement for Lambert. If so, our attacking force is potentially stronger than it was last season.

Anyway, welcome to the club Shane. A good worker who'll no doubt put in a shift for us. Now we need to focus on a center half.
