Pelle can play well at times . This performance was against a very very poor Chelsea side . I hardly think this slightly hysterical gushing post is warranted .
If he can sustain this type of performance for an entire season then this type of post is warranted .
Until then its a little premature .

Are you ever able to say anything positive about saints?

Make him our max earner and stick him on a 5 year before rules change. No sale below £50m

2x players. A rightback and Charlie Austin

Couldn't agree more. F***, that's twice in a month that I've agreed with something that you've posted on here.
You're maturing.

Yeah best squad but little use if you can't find a settled team and the manager keeps making weird decisions.
I still fear each game he'll try to be clever thinking Yoshida or Martina will cope with the opposing attacking better at RB. Endless messing around for the sake of it. I've never seen a good back 4 anywhere that doesn't play together regularly, and who on earth doesn't think our best back 4 is Cedric/Fonte/VVD/Bertrand?
Then there's Romeu. He's been excellent yet keeps getting dropped. Davis AND JWP doesn't work for me. Yes we won a game but even Koeman didn't seem that impressed about some of it. I imagine he'll favour Clasie more so one of them will get dropped, but I feel bad for Romeu really. Still, very good options to have in the centre.
Up front things are better than ever IMO. Pelle is playing ok, although I still have huge doubts about him away from home. We have pace, width, goals. Can't campaigner really.
Totally agree. Davis and Jwp carry 0 goal threat. Will be immensely frustrating if Clasie comes in to fitness and Davis keeps him out.
Romeu should become a regular partner for Wanyama as was Morgan. Romeu looks to be able to pass it as well having a decent shot on him.
Our recent successes have undoubtedly been linked to having a settled team. It will inevitably take time for players to build relationships on the pitch as well as learn each other's game and for that reason, we should try and establish a settled back six.
Cedric----Fonte---VvD----Bertrand
-------Wanyama----Romeu
You can then chop and change the forwards according to gameplan, tactics and opposition.
We almost had the best defence in the league last season and we always had a settled back six irrespective of opposition.

What a thread.

Got a positive feeling about today, hopefully the goals will start flowing now.
-
Is Pelle fit for today? Also I'm guessing that Targett will start with Bertrand coming on at some point.
I would rather Bertrand start and Targett replace after 60 mins. Increase game time and match fitness that way.
-
Said it earlier, forget defending, use him for his strengths.
Sit wanyama and Clasie/Romeu behind him, and mane and jrod in front. Let him pick out some passes for those two to run on to and we could have a real recipe for success!
Some may disagree but I would have Ramirez over Davis and 'mr invisible' One Cross Prowse all day long!

Irrespective of how involved he is, he nearly always plays 1 killer pass. He has that in his locker. With Rodriguez slowly coming in to form and Mane with all his willing pace, someone like Ramirez sat behind could work like a slick oiled machine. Definitely an option worth having. I for one certainly hope he gets involved around the match day squad from here on in.

Surely the facepalm would be Saints signing a defender who can't defend ?

Do you have another club you truly support?
Or do you just moan moan and moan about saints?
Didn't realise that's what "supporting" a club meant!

Jwp mate is a total non entity without possession may as well play with a player less. He can whip a ball in but such a one trick pony. The moment he took Romeu off the sea of space just opened up further. We are so weak at fullback and replacing clyne with a player that is deemed a risk by the manager, so much so that he plays a CB out of position speaks volumes.
We need Bertrand back asap, stek is too slow off his line and we have to get Clasie involved as soon as possible. That way we don't lose defensive strength whilst still offering a decisive pass out to the forwards.
We are too slow moving the ball forward at the moment and we sat back way too much.
There RANT over.
-
Can only see a heavy defeat. We can't create and our defense is suspect . Man U will have a field day .
At least Koeman will claim we should have won and that the ref was poor afterwards .

Blatant troll.

Could probably develop to 3rd choice with better quality players around and coaching.

We do appear to have some overly pedantic Gits within our fan base...
-
4-4-2
Stek
Cedric Fonte Van Dijk Bertrand(Targett)
Mane Wanyama Romeo Tadic
Pelle Rodriguez
This lineup. Not sure of formation though...

Good corners will only get you so far.

I like him, I think we're a better side when he plays, you just need to get the balance right around him, he's not going to win a game on his own, but he can certainly help not lose it.
More than happy for him to start the majority of games, even if he doesn't stay on. IMO him and JWP are fighting for one place, it's when they both play where we seem to have a problem.
I don't think he is the same player of a couple of years ago. Seriously average for a player in such a key position.
Don't think he will play much when Clasie is fit.
-
You don't beat Man Utd by sticking 4 up front....
Almost guarenteed it'll be Wanyama Romeu and Davis in midfield, flanked by Tadic and Mane with Pelle through the middle.
Davis is always first on your team sheet isn't he?
-
Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game.
It's not defensive when you've got Rodriguez, tadic, mane and pelle in front.
-
just no JWP and Davis in the same side. just plain wrong
This.

Play a front 3 of jrod, pelle and mane. Wanyama and Romeu anchoring, and Tadic linking play in between
