I don't see Everton going, they'll sneak out of this - they do every year, then they'll have a pitch invasion celebrating it, bomb next year, change the manager and rinse repeat.

It'll be Leeds following us and Leicester I think.

Leicester do indeed look done, and Leeds have a tough as nails run-in, so you're probably correct.  I still would love to see Everton drop as well though.

The trouble with the likes of Viera is with success they would be looking at moving upwards but I guess that's football. His record at Palace with some good players at his disposal is also a nagging worry. Look how quickly Roy Hodgson turned things round. Viera had obviously lost the players. But beggars can't be choosers so like I said previously, we are going to have to accept some flaws whoever comes.

You need to look at Palace's run immediately prior to Vieira's sacking then immediately after, in terms of the teams they played.  I think the sacking was very harsh.

Playing without forwards not radical enough for you?

Mind you with barely a goal between them for the last 18 months I wouldn't bother  playing them either,  but some fans are more tolerant.

I think Selles must have assumed real life is like Football Manager where playing without strikers confuses the opposition and so almost guarantees goals.

Win all our matches and we'll stay up. Remember when Leicester won the league? If you see a fat lady starting to sing, shut that lard-ass up.

Let's keep it tight and do them late on.

    BELIEVE. CoYR.

Unleash Tall Paul, Adams, Sulemana, Stuart Armstrong, Edozie, Aribo and Alcaraz later in the game when they tire.

    RRRREEEDDDD ARRRRMMYYY!!!

Honestly, I think I'd rather see Orsic in the starting lineup than Moi.  At least then Selles could claim to be trying something different.

We've had a massive outlay in players (and shoring the squad with January signings), while also following a policy of trimming the height of any peaks in the wage bill. No games for McCarthy, bye bye Redmond and Romeu. Super, if enough of the replacements improve the team. Horrific if... well this.

I've actually been thinking we've really missed Redmond.  Not as much as Romeu, but even with him being as inconsistent as he was, his direct running did cause opposition defences some problems and at least he was pretty proficient at getting the ball into the box.

I would think about it if they were paying us £11.99 to watch it, but I still think I'd want more.

My method for watching matches is a VPN connected to an American server and a Peacock subscription at $4.99 per month.  But I'll be otherwise occupied tomorrow night.

  7. 1. Worst Player of the Season.

    Gavin Bazunu

    2. Worst Manager.

    Nathan Jones

    3. Worst Team Performance of the Season.

Take your pick. That Forest game and when we had the uphill task against 10-man Wolves stand out though.  And the Grimsby debacle.

    4. Most Embarrassing Moment.

Hard to choose between the various Nathan Jones rants and the Grimsby game.

    5. Biggest Player Disappointment.

    Orsic.

    6. Who is responsible for this shit show.

Almost everyone at the club.  Except perhaps the kit and ground staff because the kits and pitch always look lovely.

  8. Nice statement from Rickie.

The guy has earned the title of Saints legend, as I doubt our rise would have been half as swift without his contributions. And he always handled himself in a way which showed him to be down to earth and a model pro.

This is the sort of guy young fans should look up to - worked his socks off, worked his way up and all of a sudden finds himself in the England world cup squad and at his boyhood club, which probably seemed impossible even a year ago.

I wish Rickie all the best. Very sad to see him go but delighted for the man himself.

  9. - The club has a new kit for next season, I don't understand why you keep using this as a stick to beat them with. The CEO of Veho has seen it, it just hasn't been publicly unveiled yet and Veho's sponsorship deal doesn't start until 1st July 2014.

    - The club is "deep in the process of appointing a new manager", wait and see who they appoint before using this as another stick

    - I don't understand your point about incoming players, new manager or not the club will have a list of players it wants already and the new manager when appointed will give his approval or not on them

    - Cork and Fonte's contracts may be waiting on the managerial appointment, he may wish to move them on

    - I think its unlikely the club isn't very close to having all of its pre-season details sorted already, preparation for those things happen long in advance. You've taken them not announcing it as they've done nothing towards it.

Good to see some sense being spoken on here.

  10. I just don't get it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Rickie for a second. We all know it was his boyhood dream to play for Liverpool, and he's no doubt getting a payrise to boot.

But to sell him for £4m? I'm sorry, that's a fecking insult. He may be 32, but his contribution makes him worth a whole crapload more than that. SFC is screwing themselves with this. Might as well sell the whole first team on the cheap. Maybe they're trying to speed up the process of more league derbies against Pompey. FFS.

  11. I get Lambert is 32, but you can't replace a player of his quality for £4m.

According to the BBC though, he was intent on leaving this summer anyway. It's looking more and more like the summer is going to be filled with bad news.

  12. I can only echo what so many have already said. As a parent myself, anytime I hear news like this it saddens me more than I can say. My kids are everything to me, so I can't imagine how Richard and his family must be feeling.

Condolences to him and his family.
