  1. Completed my inaugral 42 mile Sky Ride today in the New Forest, very enjoyable.

Sorry to hear that there were 2 accidents over the weekend involving cyclists in the Forest, today we had some complete arseholes in cars! Why are they in such a hurry, it IS a National Park and it is Sunday?

  2. Thanks for the advice regarding my saddle! I have a Boardman MX Comp Hybrid and the saddle is very hard compared to my colleagues Whyte Hybrid, which has a gel saddle, so I have "borrowed" his saddle and seat post for this Sundays Sky Ride from Redbridge into the Forest (26 miles), will see how I get on with my usual padded shorts.

I have a Charge Scoop saddle inbound, as I have signed up to take part in Sky Rides new initiative/trial "Ride Further" which is 42 miles next Sunday, also ordered some new Ergon GP1 grips as my hands get really numb.

  3. It's not the shorts, it's the saddle. Hybrid saddles aren't built for that sort of mileage. Mine wrecks me after 20miles but I can bang out 120miles in the road bike, same shorts, no problem.

If you are after a really good pair of shorts though then Vermarc Tinto bib-shorts are well worth looking at or if you're riding through the winter look at their Roubaix 3/4s.

  4. I started cycling again with a mate from work last September (both of us nearly 16 stone!), just half an hour at lunchtimes, we then started training for the BHF Dorset Ride in April where we took on the 25 mile route - absolutely loved it. We both have quick hybrid bikes, and have done several of the local 20 mile+ Sky Rides this summer which are excellent for beginners, but seem a bit slow now. The thought of contacting a local club is a bit daunting as I haven't got a "Road Bike", but would love to do some serious riding through the winter, my aim would be to get up to 50 miles by next years BHF ride.

One thing I find troubles me is I get a really numb bum after 20 miles or so, I have padded cycling shorts but they don't seem to offer much padding at the back, can anyone recommend a good pair of shorts that offer a decent amount of padding for 50 miles?

  5. I am attending my first Cricket match at the Rose Bowl next month, and want to use public transport as I'd like to have a few beers!

It is not very clear from the RB website/bus operators which route to use and whether extra services are put on for big matches, as I'd imagine the buses get pretty full.

Has anyone got any experience and hints/tips of attending using public transport from the West? I am currently planning on a train from Poole to Sothampton Parkway.

    Cheers :)

  6. Site keeps crashing! Not a great way to launch, can't read a whole page as the zoom doesn't work properly, and no option to download as a PDF.

I would have subscribed at £29, but I don't think the site is ready to go yet, perhaps some UAT needs to be done! Then a re-launch.

    Tried in Chrome and IE8

  7. We got rid of ours by soaking some kitchen roll with some aromatherapy oil, can't remember which one, might have been vetivert, and stuffed it down a fresh hole

  8. Errrr...... no.

I am ACCEPTING of another year in division 3, but still hope we can get up this year.

i don't think this is our "true position". we are here because of Lowe's Legacy plus the fact we started the season without a squad worthy of division 4. So I do not accept for one minute it is our "true position". Plus also we are playing better than many teams in division 2, so on "merit" we wouldn't be here.

But here we are. Hopefully go up after this years play offs, although part of me wants to go up as champions, and that would mean next year. You can stay in Wimborne and division 3, but not for me, thanks very much.

I think you missed my point, I am not saying I am happy where we are, of course I want us to be in the next highest league! I was commenting on how far we have actually come since last summer.
