was nice to see an ex Saint destroy Liverhampton
it's the irony i love, Scousehampton purchase six saints players in recent years, yet the one they did not buy butt fxxks them in the C.L. Final, i love it.

This season was a perfect **** storm
Recruiting a very Poor manager
Squad with to many average players
Complacency at board level
Compounded by the VVD saga and a change of owners.
Hopefully this was a big kick in the nuts wake up call very everyone at the club
Massive summer ahead if we don't want to through this ****e again next season.
excellent summary, say's it all really

Ok ..... where should we start?
Skulking off to Blackpool to meet with Klopp without asking for the club's permission, knowing this is completely against the laws of the game.
His statements in his Transfer Request letter ......
"Insulted" that the club would not let him go to Liverpool ..... they never actually put in an offer for him, and we all know why!!
Talked to management about desire to leave "6 months ago" whilst all the time letting the club go to the efforts of getting him through rehabilitation. He has spent the vast majority of his new enhanced contract
either injured or not in the right frame of mind to play. The club are fully justified in expecting some sort of return for their investment in him and promotion to Captain.
"Disappointed that enquiries from numerous clubs have been rebuffed" ..... er .... no official approaches were ever made by any club!! Maybe because you'd already spoken to them illegally and they didn't want
to end up like The Scousers did.
Posting sulky pictures in Social Media ... grow up.
Refusing to participate in various pre season photo shoots.
Now the window has closed, not facing up to the fact he has a contract with us to fulfill and needs to man up, accept the situation and do what the club are paying him handsomely to do ... play Premier League Football.
He needs to grow up, stop listening to his leech of an agent, and stop acting like a spoilt brat, fight for his place in the team, show commitment to the cause and apologise to The Club, fellow players and fans for his actions and would state that he'd like to rejoin the group.
The Club said from the very start he was not for sale, despite all the pressure from The Scouse Media Luvvies and ex players alike, they stuck to their guns. Any bad press VVD got was from his own ill thought out actions from the start.
All he had to do was ask the club for permission to speak to other clubs, and who knows if a suitable bid came in he might have been on his merry way. Don't blame Les Reed FFS.
you really cannot argue with any of that, say's it all

Cheers - Decent money but not up there with the top teams. He can't throw money at us anyway even if he wanted to due to FFP. It might increase our commercial activity in China though that will help FFP issues.
We'll still be self sustaining, which is fine by me. Be interesting to see how this affects out transfers in and out.
Could he not sponcer the stadium, with Ethiad as an example? Or has that been outlawed now?One of you our there will be up to speed on this.

It is hard to imagine this. I think that his representative's goal in drafting this press release was to up the ante and make any return in a Saints shirt untenable.
I think you are probably right, the so called pundits get right up my nose, Ian Wright and Chris Sutton last night, banging on how Southampton are just a selling club, i am sick and tired of Southampton being talked about in this way, they did not want to sell the players we have over the last few years, like Lallana, Lovren etc, but the pull of the big clubs for them as players is so big that Saints have always felt that there was no way out. Therefore as we have progressed (apart from last season, although a cup final is progress) the board must feel that we have to stand firm, otherwise you cannot progress further, 6th or 7th is as far you can go, remember how the so called top six clubs had a meeting to discuss Leicester and the potential of them winning the premiership, they are afraid of that and they do not want that to happen again, hence why i am frankly getting bored with the scenarior, why don't they just xxxx off and form there own league, the top six to seven will have a great time battling for six trophies, that will stop them winging and they all finish with a trophy at the end of the season, of course it won't happen but something needs to be done, as the current situation is not sustainable in terms of transfer fees (198 million for a player) and wages, they could learn from the NFL in terms of sustainability.

What's that person in the red t shirt holding?
Hubbly-bubbly pipe i think, strong stuff, smoked in the middle east a lot.

Get Brenda in!
I see where you are coming from i think, that is do you think he will buy all our players back from Scousehampton?
-
It will be disappointing if it is Liverpool. I'd Much rather city, Chelsea, United or Spurs even.. It would be nice for those plastic scousers to not believe they can automatically take any of our players they want..all season it's been "we are having Bertrand" "we are having Virgil," "I like Gabi we will have him next summer"....
I get we sell players but in this case..Liverpool can't be the only option surely? Perhaps if we string it out to late summer it may seem like we don't bend over backwards as soon as they call?
look at the bright side, if they are beating us by 6-0 next season at least we can sing" and its all scousehampton"

I've not been on Saints Web for a fair while, so apologies in advance if this has been covered many times before. I wanted to say something before (what seems like) the inevitable happens ...
I've not been following the transfer speculation up until now, but I see today that Liverpool are odds on favourites to sign VVD. Can we as fans have a say in stopping this from happening? I understand that we might struggle to keep hold of a player of VVD's quality but it would be an absolute farce that we would sell yet another player to Liverpool and our best player to them two years in a row.
I can't recall any club ever selling as many players to the same side (and in the same division to boot). This constant selling of our players to Liverpool is turning us from a well respected team into a laughing stock and it is miserable to see as a fan. In my humble opinion, if the board even countenance selling VVD to Liverpool it shows a complete contempt for the fans.
Last season we finished above Liverpool and yet couldn't wait to sell them our best player, hastily in a cut price deal while we didn't have a manager to complain. Why strengthen your rivals (at the time) while weakening yourselves? Even this season Liverpool have looked decidedly average without (their player of the season) Mane.
What's the point in supporting a team if you're just acting as a feeder team for another club in the same division? A club who openly mocked us for selling them some players a few seasons ago.
Enough is enough, I say we vote with our feet and threaten a walk out if VVD ends up at Liverpool this or any season.
From a moral point of view you are absolutely right, however, there are no morals in football or loyalty anymore. Yes we have a contract with players, but all this amounts to is that the club are guaranteed a fee for that player should a bigger richer club wish to purchase him. There is no point in making him play out his contract, as he will either hand in a transfer request or refuse to play, either way it just would not work; the so called fair play scheme bought in by the F.A. is probably the most unfair system ever dreamed up by anyone. Put yourself in the same position in your own job, a competitor head hunts you and tells you that they will double your salary, what would you do? Of course you would, the only way to stem this would be a salary cap based on what the bottom ten in the premiership can afford, it won't happen, so I am afraid that as soon as we get some good players in the team, bring them on and make them great players then one of the top six will buy them, sorry but we are stuck with it, so the top six will remain the top six for a very long time assisted by the fair play system, and before you all shout Leicester City, yes one offs can and will happen in sport, just like Foinhaven in the national at 100/1

Where's Jack Schitt when you need him
Is that the son of Noah, brother of Fuller and nephew of Ada?
-
My Son told me 4 months ago that Saints would sign Boufal. He also got VVD correct. He's 11 years old. He works out the players on FIFA and then analyses them. Berahino is also on his list.
Reckon you should get in touch with Les Reed, if he is doing that at 11, then what could he do later, sound like your boy has great vision.

must be an age thing, players come and go, have done for the last 55 years BUT SFC still remains. what is good is that very few actually better themselves in terms of playing when they move, just a bigger bank balance.
never be impressed by the kissing of the badge rubbish,95% are in it for the money, as are we in our jobs
That is my take on it as well, any Leicester player cannot say he is leaving for champions league football now, when Lallana, Shaw and Lovren went it was always for the money, fact is who can blame them anyone else would do the same thing.

Telegraph article says no imminent appointment but we do have a shortlist.
O.M.G, I have just had a real horrible thought, please God tell me I am completely wrong, STEVE BRUCE, why has that flashed up in my mind; could it be how he used to sing our praises, one phrase was how we were the best of the rest outside of the what was then top six, need to rush to the bathroom.

If I am right I am bagging ITK status, life time membership.
I have been told by someone close to the Italian media and a Juventus s/t holder that Zlatan Ibrahimović has agreed a summer move to Southampton - on the basis of his exceptional relationship with Ronald at Ajax. Wage structure to be demolished in line with new TV revenue.
If I am wrong hey who cares I loved hearing it.
Stranger things have happened in football, i listened to him some time ago being interviewed on radio, he was talking about how Southampton tried to sign him ( In Rupert's time), but felt and did say respectfully he could move to a bigger club at the time.

Yeah, he had a whack on the head which meant he didn't remember going off, and went home in the car yesterday with an all clear after a trip to hospital.
Thanks for that The9

A bit disappointing, but worse things than going to Everton, being comfortably the better team and being unlucky at only getting a point.
Good to see Rodriguez back and involved.
Poor clearance by Yoshida for their goal.
Any news on Fonte injury?

Love this, can anyone do Skirtel and the butler from the Adams family

Well you see Ron the transfer market can be a bit tricky, that's any transactions go through my dog's account.

Foster is a lucky charm
does anyone know why Austin is not playing, just got in from Birkenhead

COYR, get some confidence back in the team
Glad to see Bertrand back, Classie soon as well if that was him I saw on the SFC site photographs of the squad training, someone please confirm.

We are Southampton, the team that finishes 7th and doesn't lose to teams like Everton 3-0 at home. Let's all have a meltdown.
**** me. 2 games in and the season is over for some. These are the sort of games we struggle in. Admitedly the defence was all over the place but we will still bring in a couple of players. I'm all in favour for going all out in the Europa league and letting Stoke, Swansea and Palace finish above us. We will lose a fair few games this season, get over it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think you will find our points tally is the same after two games this season as it was last season!

I really thought i was the only person to become disillusioned with the state of football today, having read this that is clearly not the case, of course i have even become more disillusioned with the the top six clubs receiving an even larger slice of the financial cake as of next season. As we already had a two league premiership, that gap has been further widened by the FA and 8 premiership clubs agreeing that the top six should get more money, crazy, unfortunately this for me has now widened to the national team and frankly for the first time ever, i want the world cup done and finished.
