Mini crisis after 2 games!? Unbelievable.
2 games? Only lost one in nine I thought
-
Does anyone really want Bompey or Brighton as our main rivals over Pompey ? Not me thanks. 10 point deduction will do.
This, want to see them suffer but not disappear completely.

Cavendish, McIlroy or Farah.
What exactly has Andy Murray done to get there?
Who would you nominate in his place? Not suggesting he will win it or deserves to win it but he is a pretty good tennis player and I'm sure you wouldn't mind being in his shoes given his titles and assets.
-
Cavendish, Farah or Mcilroy for me, the top three anyway with Cavendish nicking it IMO. SaintSparky, the press follow Cavendish quite a bit as well as the golfers

According to this article Tiger Woods has just suffered the worst ever defeat of his career,

I think the picture says it all.
Your username is a good description of him nowadays

and Norway second, I couldn't even name one famous Norwegian...
Ole Einer Bjorndalen, the greatest ever biathlete and probably one of the greatest athletes of all time.

That's just it. We didn't play well. We sh*t ourselves in possession and hoofed it as far as we could as soon as we went 1-0 up. It's a bit worrying when we play like that against Spain when they stuck in 2nd gear and the worrying reality is if something was actually on the line, they would have absolutely murdered us. Instead, because we scraped a 1-0 win, the cracks are papered over and the media make out that we just might have a chance at the Euros and a lot of the public buy in to it.
Whist spain played quite well and had alot of possession they didn't create a lot of chances and as they say it's the result that counts and we won 1-0. Still lets not get facts in the way of speculation.

I was bored so thought i'd read some delldays posts. What a difference a year makes.
Glad you wasn't suicidal then otherwise some old alpine threads (or some not so old) wouldn't help your cause.

What is the point in the b*ll*cks that has been taking place over the last week-and-a-half (and thereby disrupting our winning run), apart from a marketing exercise for the FA and the sale of a few overpriced polyester shirts ?
I am dreading all the jingoism, flag-waving and nauseous Sun headlines that will arrive next summer, made even worse by the fact that we mugged Spain...
A win is a win no matter how you win it and that goes for any team including saints, we have won games where we have mugged the opposition just as much as we have lost games through being mugged. One day you will wake up and actually be happy for a change and maybe praise positive results

Given that I wrote that post this morning at 9.35am I think it's pretty clear I was referring to the Sweden game. It seems your desire to go running head-long in to an argument has clouded your ability to get your facts straight.
I gave my opinion on how we played against Spain because I watched the game. Correct me if I am wrong but the result was 1-0 yesterday was it not? Considering that we were up against a defence comprised of players from such footballing luminaries as Rosenborg, Olympiakos, Celtic and Blackburn, excuse me if I don't go booking in my 'England: Euro 2012 Champions' tattoo just yet.
Yep a team we had previously failed to beat in 43 years and this, 3 days after beating the current european and world champions, had we lost either game I'm sure england would of been chastised by the same people who are bemoaning the fact that we actually won both games whether they mean anything or not.

Won't happen... when the election comes, due to FPTP, voters will scramble to the main 3/(maybe 2 parties by then!).
Only ever been main 2 not 3, thew Lib dems have only ever been a fringe player

I think I'm missing something here. Everyone, apart from De Ridder stopped as soon as that challenge went in on Harding and the ref blew straight away, way before De Ridder had shot. That was clear to me in the Northam that the game was being brought back and their defender didn't got to close it down. Not sure why people are classing this in anyway as a "disallowed goal".
This. Everybody stopped except De Ridder and the goalie made a half hearted attempt to save like on auto pilot but everybody else had stopped and some had already surrounded the ref.

Don't get it. We are top they are second. It's not as if we're 24th in the table. Good result? Yes! Performance of the week?? Not sure. Anybody would think WHU are Man ure or something special!
So what are you suggesting, that you have to be near the foot of the table to win the award

When did bursted become a word?

I still think West Ham should win it. Their resources are crazy and no doubt they'll spend big again in January, win or bust and all that.
But not worried about any other teams. Not so much if we'll win it, I just think anyone can get top 2 because there's so many weaknesses in teams. Leicester spent lots, but I've said all year they won't ever get top 2 under Sven as he won't find consistency, same as with England.
Saints play the best football, have a few of the best players, and IMO, the best management and team spirit. So we have a very, very good chance. If we're top 2 in January I'll really believe we can do it.
After seeing West Ham last night I see no reason why they should win it, previusly undefeated away they come up against better opposiion and as for their resources I thought they were in debt but pease correct me if I am wrong.
-
I don't see why not. Although alot will depend upon our ability to keep guys fit... Lose Lambert, Cork or Fonte for any period of time and we'd begin to drop points IMO
All teams will have the same problem though and will rely on the availability of their best players throughout the season, we will all lose some of these at some point and haven't we just got through two very hard games still playing well and being the better of the opposition without our best player, Lallana?
-
Trouble is though I doubt there were actually 32,152 in the ground as there were quite a few empty seats near us as STH that I know did not go for one reason or another and other seats that just were not sold.
But the STH's have already paid for that seat so should be included whether they turn up or not and as for the other "empty" seats, you know for fact they were not sold? Could be they were sold but like the season ticket holders they could not attend for one reason or another.

Significantly, West Ham have a very good away record. Three wins and two draws (compared to our two wins) emphasise that this is going to be a tight match.
Incidentally most of the seven clubs who have a better away record than us have yet to play us at home. Make of that what you will. Without our 100% home record we clearly would not be heading the league.
3-3 draw.
So without our 100% home record we would not be heading the league, I suppose the same could be said about west ham, without their good away record they would not be second.

Post 104.... AP knew he was off the Newcastle and apparently tried to tap up two of our players to go with him.....and fontes missus
Think you'll find that post, like the rest are alleged quotes, and you used the word "apparently" which is not conclusive is it.

Plenty Of Allardyce's teams have turned over teams that can play much better football than we can, how many times did Arsenal struggle over the years for example? West Ham are in form and have proven quality throughout the side. Lallana out is a massive blow and I am worried about how good our defence is against real quality, especially if Richardson hasn't recovered after Derby.
Will be interesting to see how their defence stands up against our ability to score goals in abundance.
-
So I have just trolled through 3 pages of why AP got the shove and I am still none the wiser
-
Clearly federer's opinion. He tries miles more at the slams.
So the other 51 non slam titles he has won mean nothing to him then, seems pointless playing if you have no intention of winning
-
I can never decide so both for me

The reason why Israel sat on their hands, despite wanting to get down and dirty with the Iraqis, was because the US were sat firmly on top of them and holding them back.
The US knew their coalition (which included a number of Arab countries) would disintegrate & lose support if the Israelis started firing.
And they had every right in the book to defend themselves but were man enough to listen to others

Didn't realise we were playing West Ham in all 5 games
