  1. They will do ok I thinks er the season. Promotion by any form will be a massive achievement. They are buying basically a whole tea and as we know teams can take a while to gel. Best they should hope for is a consolidation season.

A whole team of freebies and loaners as they are not allowed to purchase a player until the footballing debts are paid off.

  2. I wonder how much of this week was a way to show Katerina that the fans were fully behind Cortese after some minor bad press stories, this week has certainly shown the Club that the vast majority of fans have give Cortese a massive vote of confidence. Now that it is all sorted let's push on and have a great pre-season.

  3. The bigger concern is that if Cortese leave, another club will take him on as a Chairman (probably in Italy), and he will come back trying to cherry pick the backbone of our team, especially if his replacement is under orders to maximise profit.

  4. the pantswetters will be on in a minute saying we're sure to lose at least 13-0 at home to Stoke

Come on you know that Stoke are famous for their 13-0 away victories, get loads of them

  5. He's a greedy bugger isn't he, had he kept his cool and not tried to do everything on his own Wigan might have scored 4. Not the sort of player we want.

Yes buy a good coach/manager could train him out of that.

  6. So a draw tomorrow and we go above Villa and are effectively safe due to our superior goal difference over them and Wigan.

But one of the bedwetters will point out we may lose by the odd 13 goals if Wigan win both of their last 2 games :)

  7. Still doesn't mean he can't be criticised for some off-field decisions and the impact on fans.

The expression taking the rough with the smooth comes to mind, currently the smooth (promotion, premier league, etc...) outweighs the rough (carpark charges etc...) so a no brainer really.

  8. And he claims the lure of Pompey saw him turn down a host of other clubs.

He told The News: ‘I am not going to name the clubs but I had the opportunity to jump into League One with some decent teams.

‘I would say there were about five or six.

‘There was a bit of a Championship move that maybe I could have done if I waited out.

‘And there were 10-12 in League Two.

20 clubs including Pompey wanted a loanee who helped relegate Aldershot, Yeah of course there was. His brain cell took a bashing heading the ball last season methinks.

Or in real speak, been at Aldershot don't want to move too far, where are the nearest mugs that will pay me as the last bunch are going bust and got relegated.

  9. How long ago did you buy the house as it was probably on all the bumf that you had. Try hooking it out and look at it, or if you have other neighbours as them what side they are responsible for.

  10. What would this mean for Clyne? We ain't going to pay £5m for a reserve full back.

Its a squad game now and as you progress further up the Premier League the expectations of players to play every game decreases, especially if you have a good squad. Even Rooney at Manure is on the bench on a regular basis, where as he would be a permanent fixture in a lower premier league side. If we are realistically wanting to challenge in a few years we are going to need to buy replacements for the 25 player squad that are as good if not better than the core of the current first team main players.

  11. I still think we'll go down, but It's looking unlikely now I must admit, I still wouldn't put it beyond Wigan that they can get something at the Emirates.

We've still got to get a minimum of 3 points out of 2 remaining games to be doubly sure of survival, which I really can't see us doing.

I have more chance of a threesome with Kylie & Danni Minogue than us getting relegated.

  12. Gone by Xmas..

Tactically not a good enough choice for a club of Utds stature.

Wonder if felliani will end up there?

Not a hope in hell, he will have the backup of Fergie to ensure that the transition will be as smooth as possible, he will have all the backroom staff at the club, for him its a dream job, with the best support system available.

  13. Remember arriving at the Valley on thin boxing day as we had 2 punchers on the way to the game. Got there at half time, mate said this is the turnstile as it was pay on the day all bundled up to the top of the terrace only to find we were at the other end of the blink in pitch to the rest of the fans, tried to keep quiet as we had colours on but went mental when we scored. Fortunately we had no trouble.

Also remember some mates at a Luton game being chased by a big group ran up the path of a house that had their front door open, through the lounge, into the kitchen and out the back door, whilst the elderly Asian occupants looking on totally bemused at the situation.

  14. Luton away 77/78 promotion season (again!!) Huge invasion of Saints fans, led to all pubs in the area being shut under police instructions.

Huge queues at Tescos and Sainsbury's.

Arrived at the ground with a couple of cans each still to be consumed.

OB wouldn't let us take them in and insisted we drank the before letting us in.

Cue bizarre scene of halfcut saints fans chucking down a couple of beers each in a matter of minutes under police supervision by the turnstiles before being allowed into the ground

barely able to walk!! They wanted us inside rather than strolling around town I guess. How times have changed eh.

In the mayhem that ensued after Peachy scored a penalty near the end of the game to put us top of the league with 2 games left, somebody's walking crutch got chucked onto the pitch.

Looked like somebody else was legless too !!

Remember that one as well, did we go to all the same games in the day :)

  15. Wimbledon away in a Midweek Cup match at Plough Lane. Think we won 2-0 with Boyer scoring late 70's. Freezing cold, icy night, loads of space on the away terrace.

In an attempt to keep warm people were lighting fires using newspapers, programmes and trash from the catering .. and the police didn't do anything about it!!

    Remember that one.
