Wow, arent we the little jumped-up, self-appointed barrack room lawyer ?
I just thought that, what with you being such a great and successful predictor on so many different occasions, you`d be humble enough to admit being wrong just once.
from a psychological point of view,I find it quite interesting to see how you dont hesitate one second when it comes to bragging and bigging yourself up,but seem totally unable to admit getting even ONE thing wrong.
may I suggest you consider visiting your local university`s research department.with the contribution provided by observations from your brain, you could help scientists understand a great deal more about mental disorders.the areas surrounding delusions of grandeur is not yet fully understood, for example !

Re: the play-offs. We sneaked in by the skin of our teeth, into the last place in the last game, because Preston bottled it, despite having spent a fortune for this level on our team. Oh, and then we played crap to put us behind in the playoff, then threw it away with ****e penalty-taker selection after fighting our way back into the fixture. We got so far in spite of Burley, not because of him, and I wasnt that far away from being correct, in that that season was a colossal underachievement.
Re: Anyone but Burley could do better. Anyone who had the faintest clue about what they were doing (Pearson) did do better than Burley last season. Anyone who doesnt have the foggiest (Dodd & Gorman, Wotte & Poortvillet) hasnt done better. We had the chance to get the likes of Billy Davies and Ian Dowie, proven achievers at this level, and went instead for clueless diickheads.
a simple "yes" or "no" will do fine this time, wihout all the ifs, buts and what-could-have beens.
your statements were made without such reservations you claim now,at the time they were made.
so once agian, without any excusing reservations: were you right or wrong on those occasions?
-
Nope, sorry, the old "clock stopped / right twice a day" axiom is not relevant here.
I have made specific predictions and observations. The only things I have got wrong this season was expecting us to conceed 10 goals between the Reading and ManU games, and that Saga would be gone in the Jan window, and that was only prevented by a rule about the number of clubs you can play for in one season.
I said back in August that this season would pan out like this, and I came close to being right about last season too. I was one of the first to demand Burley be removed, I said months ago Killer would never play for us again and I indicated that Schniderlin was a lightweight and wouldnt deliver, amongst other things..
seeing you here, bragging & claiming to have been right about all sorts, makes me stunned !
you must have the biggest ego,and the most selective memory since Stalin.
Refresh our memories of what you said-on at least a thousand occasions-when there were ten matches left in our Play-off season..?
"we`ll never make it,those who think so are stupid bastards without grasp of reality bla-bla-bla"
and how about the infamous: "ANYONE but Burley would make this team improve" ??
shortly followed by your wish coming through, and two "any-ones" came in and made the team a total shamble.
Alpine, just face facts: you are NEVER right about important issues. and the times you are most wrong, are the exact same times where you scream out your loudest and most bombastic theories.
-
If we could have kept that team together over the next 5 years we would have walked that league!!
too true.. that`s the team who made me support the Saints.
there was a ridiculous amount of skill in that front line !
and to those who didnt rate Rideout: he was essential in that formation, with his hold-up play, excellent heading & work rate.
those were the days
-
On our OS now, too. Called off !

*sigh* do try to keep up
[a] it wasn't my logic it was means of determining the relegation places as suggested by Victor. I was merely pointing out that as a scheme for predicting relegation from the Championship it's not going to be far out.
As you well know income also comes into it. Debt as a percentage of turnover would be a better measure but frankly I couldn't be arsed to do any more than the minimal research of just looking at the previous thread we had on here.
Now run along dear and play in the traffic with the other children.
so in other words..your stats/scheme are just as insignificant and totally irrelevant as your contribution on this message board.
next time,do engage brain before fingers please,or get off your lazy fat arse and do some research before posting absolute drivel.
oh..and btw,Mr clueless muppet: even if you look at debt versus income,United and Liverpool would still be furthest down the list.
-
He has a point though - if you were to arrange the clubs as you suggest we would be relegated. I believe we have the second biggest debt burden in this division.
addendum...
The 3 sides to go down purely on finances would be Charlton, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday. Two out of three ain't bad.
http://mag.talksport.net/1R496782495aad0012.cde
Seriously you can't discount finances and blame it all on Lowe and his dodgy Dutch experiment.
addendum 2
Whoops missed Derby! We'd still be relegated but Charlton would escape by the skin on their teeth.
I suppose Man U ,Liverpool and Chelsea would be relegated from the PL then, going by your logic..?
whatever next.
-
I've got to say, there may be some credence to this. The 3 poorest teams (moneywise) are:-
Us
Charlton
Watford
Or is that just a coincidence?
that assessment is a bit far fetched TBF.
the main deciding factor in the "poor-category" affecting performances,is the budget for player wages.
and in this category neither us,Watford or Charlton are down the basement. there are lots of clubs having much smaller wage-budgets than ours..and thus presumably should have poorer players..!
unfortunately, the conclusion from that theory doesnt materialize on the pitch ! lower paid players/teams outperform us...aaaaaarg
-
I did, but there is very little input on his views about the current team set up. I would like to hear his views regards Lowes wrong decision to appoint JP.
thanks, thats what I suspected..my initial glance on that post only revealed a scent of patronising rantings.
thank god I didnt waste half an hour tormenting myself through that one, then !
-
I did, there was good and bad.
you`ve got patience.
pieces like that are too much for me,I do only see valid points from this poster when someone quote and thereby edit his pieces into smaller sections !
surely there has got to be a more efficient way to get one or two points across..

Who knows but Mary is. All hindsight is 20/20 and Corbett, Crouch and Trant have it in abundance and a pity they didn't take their roles at the club with a little less myopic foresight. The 3 wise monkeys who are simply out to curry favour but have a plan as fanciful as those of the protesters on Saturday. Is Mary going to lead the whip round? If so expect her to be knocking at your neighbours door asking them to persuade you to make a contribution.
It's bad enough listening to Crouch's wounded 'I could have' soldier act so I can't listen to the feed St Andrew has provided but I'm guessing she wasn't exactly subjected to a challenging line of questioning by Dumb and Dumber. Question's like, why speak out now Mary? What did you do with your status whilst at the club Mary? What do you understand by the term due diligence Mary?
Mary Corbett is a fan, Leon Crouch is a fan but they have as much right or expertise to run this club than many of the fans on this forum. Crouch's offer of £2m in football terms amounts to no more than the average fan ofering £200 and about as useful and frankly is just an empty and puerile gesture as this club want fail on the lack of £2m or £6m at its disposal but more with its long term outlook and supporter loyalty that is based in the real world. In fact apart from her name being synonymous with the club's history courtesy of her father that does not necessarily bestow the qualities needed to get us out of the mire. IMO her apparent failure in her previous duties makes her an irrelevance to comment on anything related to the club unless we can probe about her part in this sorry mess.
All this backbiting and protest it is all so counterproductive because ultimately the unwitting are either providing a platform for individuals petty and personal agendas, Duncan, or actually aideing and abetting the downfall of their own club.
Thankfully there is still a lot of middle ground supporters out there, other than 401 full members on this site, who simply want to support the team and willing to back Lowe until an obviously better alternative comes forward. Even on a thread in the lounge today one supporter actually said he still believes the board and the team will meet our survival goal this season but didn't post on the main sight for fear of the abuse. How sad is that? Bullying your own fans for having a different view than your own.
The good news is I believe fans like that still far outweigh those intent on protest without any plan beyond get Lowe out. Keep it up because the lack of acknowledgement you are getting from the club shows IMO how resolved they are to focus on turning this around even if it means dropping into League 1 for a season. Not a very savoury prospect but alot more wholesome than the known alternatives.
Don't underestimate the resolve this board has and I fully expect it to get worse before it gets better but with the likes of Crouch and Corbett it will simply be a case of ignoring the iceberg and lots of fan friendly rhetoroic.
I'm still just a very busy fan and for the record again I am not Lowe, Marland or work in the PR industry. I'm just a realist willing to put up with the abuse in the interest of balance and democracy. Interesting that the person nearest in nailing me so to speak is a fellow realist and certainly not one of the rabid serial abusers in the Lowe out camp who are in danger of proving the existence of the Lunatic Fringe with their idiotic theories on me. Most of you seriously need to focus on the points I raise as oppose to theorising about my identity but perhaps you do that to avoid looking at the reality. I'm just a fan and a ST holder and just as likely to sit next to you as anyone else. In fact I know I do and I listen to his clueless woes with a keen interest letting him set in concrete my own opinions. Yet still we get on and enjoy the games together but if I told him that Lowe is the best man at the moment I would ruin that comaradie and its largely down to pure prejudice in many cases.
Before I go, there was some confusion over my post last night when I said I don't give a sh1t. As usual this was taken out of context and I was not for one minute refering to the club but to those who are stupid enough to support the so called marching out protest. Do your thing the team and the truly faithful of us will cope without you the best we can.
I would love to join this forum as a full member but refuse to use Paypal so despite my offers of sending Baj a fiver in the post its fallen on deaf ears and they have failed to acknowledged two email requests. Draw your own conclusions.
Good night
does anyone actually READ this..?
-
the witch hunt for "luvvies" on this site has reached a pathetic magnitude,if you ask me. when all the lesser developed brains on here just keep on hurling abuse towards anyone & anything saying a positive thing about Lowe...then all they do is to deprive us of debate. and isnt debating what this message board is all about..?
to all those neanderthals who cant bare seeing a pro-Lowe argument without throwing your toys out: this forum would in the long term be a much less interesting place if you continue this behaviour. I think you all know that,if you take a breath and think about it..!
and for the record,I too would prefer Lowe to be gone.
-
I`m surprised you can laugh about such utter lunacy & twisted logic amongst a fellow mod..!
I just find it sad people are being dragged right from the asylum and/or kindergarden,to moderate this forum.
Alex Pearce scored 2 in his first three games for us..I`ll bet Arizona hugged his teddybear, covered in tears, when thinking about the certain 30 goals he too would have contributed if he was here the full season.
-
to all those marching: good luck today, and make your voices heard.
wish I was there !
-
not too much to shout about in that list...we have always had crap full-backs,with the odd exception now and then.
Bale would have been my choice, but with his absence I`ll go for Bridge.
-
Nearly half of their goals have come as a result of Delap's throws and he is up there in the "most assists" list.
yes, that is my point..? having the poorest footballer in England as your star-player,says it all really ! he does absolutely nothing of note other than his throw-ins. yet Stoke plays him on the left wing (!!) just so he doesnt have to run so far to throw the ball. combined with the fact that that is the position he does the least amount of damage in open play.
-
It amuses me that a tactic vilified by Saints fans is now paying dividends in the premier league for Stoke City.
Maybe we did not have the personnel to aim the missiles at but it is treated by Pullis and more importantly Stoke fans as a positive weapon. You only have to hear them get behind Rory when he lines one up Wooooaaaaa!
I just guess that Saints fans new better eh? doh!
I think you missed the point !
having Rory Delap as your star player, and relying totally on long-throws-basing your whole tactic throughout the game on achieving them..that is an attrocity and an insult to thinking football fans.
that aint football the way many of us love the game, and I dont care if it keeps them up.
its just a cruel combination of handball, rugby and football,in an organized shape which I personally hope gets Stoke relegated to div 2,and Delap getting tendinitis.
-
amazing effort second half. must admit I stopped listening at half-time,and didnt turn on untill we equalized ! when was the last time we came from TWO behind to win an awaygame..?? must have been atleast 10 years ago..
COYR !
-
Oh, come off it. You are crediting Lowe for us leading ? Ridiculous.
I think its much more likely the players have been absolutely stunned by public reaction, plus the fact the team looks more balanced than it has all season.
look,I got the biggest fish on the first attempt !
too bad it was a sour, uneatable, slimy eel..
-
You and Itchen obviously need to get out more
You could even try talking to supporters of other football clubs - might give you some perspective?
remind me,Plumstead..what is the score now, after your figure of hate has done his little speech..? a coincidence, you think, after last matches dire performances,or perhaps a direct result of Mr. Lowe`s little pep-talk?
-
I wouldn't necessarily take Solent's word for anything; it's not as though Merrington hasn't got an agenda is it? But, assuming Lowe did go in, we don't know what he said. Could well have been "Good luck lads" (or 'chaps' more likely) "do your best". I think lots of old school chairmen used to do that. Of course he might have said "You sit down Jan while I outline the tactics." But I doubt it.
The Lowe obsession on this board is really a bit sad.
Quite.
-
Very funny.
You are prepared to imagine all kinds of extenuating circumstances that would justify what appears to be crass egotistical interfering in team matters.
So equally....
Maybe Lowe was only allowed in the dressing room because he is holding JP's missus hostage at gunpoint - what a bastard!
Oh and you really think JP has the balls to tell his boss and employer to butt out?
You must be looking forwards to a visit from father christmas soon then
to me it doesnt appear as a "crass egotistical interfering" ...but then again Lowe didnt steal my candy when I was a baby,as most certainly was your case !
its better to wait for Santa Claus, than to see the bogeyman everytime you visit St.mary.
maybe your manic fear of that nasty demon named Woopert is what keeps you at home this lovely evening
-
Rod, For someone who takes his/her username from the combined names of some of our best players during the 90's, you should be well positioned to understand the reasons behind the hate shown towards Lowe and his Cronies.
Back then, under Nicholl, we were playing fluent football, mixing youth AND experience and overturning the best - Liverpool 4-1 at home anyone??? Yes, I was there.
In those days, hell you would probably ask 10 Saints fans who the chairman was and they wouldn't care - it was Askham the Bounty Hunter BTW....
Now, I despise Lowe for the attention seeking element of his personality and I don't want him anywhere near MY club - if he's such a great businessman (WH Ireland etc) just WHY the hell is he still bothering with Saints????????
Questions that have never been answered.
The fact he sees that he can offer something inspiring in the changing rooms is plain stupidity - WGS would have had none of it.
OUR ONCE GREAT CLUB IS IN MELTDOWN UNDER THE FOOTBALL EQUIVALENT OF DAVID BRENT
thanks for the input, and let me once more make it clear that I do not support,or like, Lowe. I just feel we`ve got no other alternative than Lowe at the minute,so banging on about his minor flaws isnt really helping.
if he does something obviously out of order, offcourse he should hear it from the fans.
but in this particular case, where we do not know any of the circumstances, maybe this isnt such a big deal..?
seems like his pep-talk has got us performing so far today, also
just kidding !!
-
Well your opinion clearly isn't worth much then.
I reckon that most fans don't want chairmen interfering in the dressing room or otherwise stepping on their manager's toes.
Romanov at Hearts and Abramovich at Chelsea come to mind, and it was clear what everyone felt about that.
I guess for some people Lowe really can do no wrong.
what a drama-gueen you are
for me to condone Lowe talking to players, offcourse that has to be by full consent from JP.
for all we know, maybe JP has asked Rupert to put in a word..? we dont know the circumstances,so I for one wont be so absolute when judging if this is a good or bad action from Lowe.
oh,and your remarks about me being a Lowe-luvvie...LOL,I was one off those being most vociferious about his removal last time around. just feel we shouldn spread any more unfounded or unneccessary negativity. shame others dont feel that way !
Why Lowe is probably an idiot.

somehow I dont think you`ll lose £ 15 mill when relegated from CCC to League 1 !
the main source of income in both those divisions are from matchdays, there`s only a relative small difference in income from TV,sponsors etc. (compared with the gap from the PL to the CCC)
