If this is true I'm going to walk in front of a train in the next 30 minutes.
ketchup?
-
Yeah I saw that. Gave him a right mouthful! I guess they were just feeling as **** as I was sat there watching that dross.
Although, the players definately seemed ****ed off as Harding seemed stroppy and had a go at the ball boy. If looks could kill that ball boy would be, well.. dead.
Then there was Barnard he is usually pretty pumped up but..............
-
Of course the decision was made by the club. Players can't sack a manager. This doesn't affect the rumours being true or false.
which begs the question why say it in the first place?
-
Hmmm, he's not going to say "the players forced him out we're all a bit like that so the next manager better watch himself" is he?
As much as I thing Deano is an honest chap, he's also not a stupid one. So to me, there is nothing in that interview at all.
Or prehaps the rumours aren't true? of course then NC doesn't come out looking to good so we better just assume they are.

Intresting interview on the O/S with dean usual rallying call, but the interesting bits for me are on AP
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2143117,00.html
"the desicion was taken by the club it had nothing to do with the players"
"It was a suprise after the result at the Bristol game"
strange comments given the rumours about the players wanting AP out.
-
My thoughts exactly, and what sort of gross misconduct could all of them be involved in? One person is possible, but three?
However the club statement never said anything about gross misconduct did it? A lot of people have latched on to the pardew super love rat rumour as the reason AP went it helps them becuase that way it seems NC was forced into this and didn't just fire the manager on a whim with no back up lined up (despite the fact that chairman do such things all the time).
The actual statement here
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2139306,00.html
States that it's the vital intergration of first team and devolpment squad that was the problem. It says the club reiveiwed the situation and it wasn't working. Nothing about fights, gross misconduct or anything else. Now the club could lie about it by why would they if it was gross misconduct it would be in their interests to say so.

Again situational, i would expect that from any manager that has this team, facilities and wealth behind it, anything less than that (and IMO its not great as you say championship form would be around the 60% mark).
Timing could be out of NC's hands dependant on what has happened, but at the start of the season, with a game in hand and 6 points of the leaders after 3 games is hardly the worst possible time. The end of season run in however would have been.
Success ? No not really, the JPT was a great day out but give it a few years and no one will care, it is a lower league cup. Our club will be judged on major trophies and league positions only.
Speak for yourself I care it's the first trophy I've seen saints win (I was only 2 in 76) as such it will always hold a special place for me.
-
Before the season started i was more than confident we would be ok, but after the start we have had i was not so sure really. In all honesty with the team and money we have had to spend i would be dissapointed if I couldn't get us promoted let alone an experienced manager. This goes for last season as well, IMO if he was more tactically aware and more reactive to what was happening on the pitch we could have made the playoffs, also he asked for more cash in order to make it, he didn't.
We have not made a blistering start, players look off form, but Swindon was a blip, it won't happen much. The fact the move has come so early has helped as we can sort ourselves out now rather than damaging a run later, also we were hardly in form anyway. Another thing is it was in the cup, this will help to focus on the league.
Losing Pardew is not as bad as is being made out, plus if he was damaging the team it is a positive step (i accept we don't know either way).
Unfortunately the fact he is being made out to be the best manager since WGS is situational as opposed to characteristically, in the same way as people can say Keegan achieved a lot..... but only when backed by cash.
Well I'll suppose we will see on Saturday.
-
FFS, don't be such a bandit
Why? losing Lallana has always been a possibilty, if he told the reporter he stayed becuase of AP he might now have less reason to stay. Of course it could all be made up.
-
Its not really a major f*ck up though is it ??
Pardew wasn't that great and we don't actually know whats happened ?
Best we've had since WGS though (lost something like seven matches last season, granted drew a few to many). Also it could be a major **** up with no new manager lined up, if the team perform like they did against Swindon before a new manager comes in we could be way of the pace by the time a new manager has settled and got us playing well again (if indeed he does). We won't know how much of a ****up it is/isn't until the end of the season. I was confident of top two a week ago now not at all.
-
Well it's a report that seemingly contradicts everything we've heard so far, even Solent were told by Markus's representatives that he didn't come to the last game of 09/10 because he was so disappointed. In fact, it reads like a badly researched heap of old boys network bull****.
You missed this part which is more telling to me. I assume we can kiss Adam good buy in January then.
Pardew was popular among both the fans and the players. I've spoken to Adam Lallana, who had been linked with clubs in higher divisions, but was happy to stay at St Mary's because he rated Pardew so highly
-
Based on what? We have no facts, just speculation.
this^^^ I'm amazed how many people are ready to except some internet rumours as fact.

From what I heard, Hammond said that he personally had no problem with AP and he improved as a player under him. He didn't mention anything about all the players being happy, and kept his comments very much about his own feelings
Thats probably worse then, some where stating the players wanted AP out, now imagine if some did and some didn't. Lambert has always had nothing but praise for AP (so did Antonio in a recent interview but he doesn't count anymore). So Hammond didn't have a problem possibly others too (Kelvin on SSN is quoted as saying he understands why the fans where upset about AP). So we could have a team that are now divided and unhappy about the AP situation not great for a promotion push.
-
Not a lot really just Hammond saying that the players all got on with AP and he said he was not aware of any player dissatisfaction. They are also happy with Wilkins and the way he is conducting training etc.
Really oh ...............................

Yes but people make out that NC had this up his sleeve for ages and that it was only a matter of when not if; for somebody supposedly so ruthless, seems that NC has been caught on the backfoot.
Again not really. Lots of managers are sacked and chairman have nothing lined up yet many have figured out a manager was on borrowed time. Most chairman are happy to relay on a caretaker while they find the right manager.
-
Normally only after a string of bad results....I think we all know thats not the reason now...
Do we? we've had some rumours nothing more they may be correct they may not, but it seems a lot of people are prepared to accept them as truth despite the big holes in those stories
-
Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail claims to have seen a text message from NC to AP so he must be talking to someone.
yes apparently he knows about/ has seen text messages sent to AP by NC after the Rovers games bollocking him for not playing our new wonder signing from serie A..................
-
He's done some controversial things but what previous form would lead you to think he would sack somebody 3 league games in and on the eve of the transfer window closing?
There's an inconsistency in some of the anti-cortese arguments. Critics say that he's ruthless, cold-blooded and puts the bottom line over the fans priorities but that implies he's also rational and calculating - no rational or calculating individual would a) sack somebody now rather than the preseason when they had a ahcance or b) if they did, not have a replacement lined up. Perhaps he's mindf**king everyone and does have somebody lined up but does not want to announce it immediately lest it gives the impression that all this was premeditated. But that's just convoluted.
As I say, none of this fits with form, and with what NC critics at least acknowledge to be his rational and calculating side...s
Lots of clubs sack managers without having replacements lined up it happens all the time, why do people think saints would be any different? caretaker managers are frenquently used by lots of clubs.

Still think the whole thing is a bit of a cluster f u c k most of the rumours about what happened have holes big enough to drive a truck through them. I made no bones about being a big supporter of AP but it often felt like he was on hiding to nothing from the moment we failed to win our first ten league matches last season. As for NC none of the things he has done have upset me until this one. If I new the truth I'd probably be less ****ed but I get the feeling the whole truth will never come out. Right know my opinion of NC will probably be based on APs replacement, what I'd really like is to have a settled manager and team like Man U and Arsenel have had.
-
Phone up Carl Fletcher and ask I suppose
I'm not saying these things aren't true just that people are now posting as if they are true we have no evidence either way.
-
I don't think so. No way Pardew would have been allowed to attend the Service
The straw that broke the camels back happened AFTEr the 4-0 away win at B Rovers, and it was so bad that it warrented Instant dismissal
Or so the rumour goes
The BIG question as far as I am concerned is the fact that all three got Instant Dismissals WHY ???
Very strange that, So they ALL committed the same SIN at the SAMR time ???
( Whatever the sin was of course )
Where Cortese goes wrong is his belief that we Supporters are not worthy of ANY type of explanation whatsoever. That may work in Banking, but it certainly does not work at a Football Club, especially an English one
Well this from the rumour on 606 which deppo says is the same story that he heard
Cortese interviewed EVERY SINGLE PERSON who was at Staplewood on that day last week, although the incident happened while Markus' memorial was being planned. The player said Nicola handled it with the utmost professionalism. TWO key players threatened to hand in Transfer Request's if action was not taken.
So if it happened as it's being told that is some where before the Oirent game and after the Bompey game. Personally if true I'd would expected those involved to be suspend until an investagation took place. However no one was and the team performed better in the games that followed the incident rather than worse which is what you'd expect.
-
I think that what Deppo refers to is this allegation.
So when was this training ground incident? They played on Saturday and by 8am on Monday morning AP was fired. Training on Sunday? Unlikely after a 4-0 away win.
Therefore the training ground incident had to be before the Bristol game. So we are asked to believe that the team was so traumatized that it then went out a day or 2 later and won 4-0 away? It makes no sense.
The usual time for immediate dismissal for an act of gross indiscipline (fighting) is right at the time it happened. You do not wait X days before suspending or firing the person and you do not fire their other staff unless they were also throwing punches. If AP was fired for this reason he would also not be subject to an NDA as he would receive no compensation for bringing about his own dismissal.
According to the rumours it took place before the Orient match (before MLs service at st Mary's)
-
It does if half the first team go to the chairman and put a "him or me" ultimatum down. As for the second part of your post, I can't explain that. Cortese made a big thing about it "not being results-based", perhaps he told the team that they needed to win so that he could get rid? Who knows? That is just supposition, by the way.
LOL in that case he should of told them that the would have to get promoted and win the JPT to get rid of AP.
I don't know whose idea it was ...

Surely this is what the reserve/devolpment squad is for? isn't the point of reserve squads to have players who can stand in if needed? Pulis to get a chance to play emergency striker and become a fans favorite after putting four past Rochdale?
or we could just play 4-5-1
