  1. More gamesmanship by them saying all those players are out injured. I know for a fact one of them is fit and was playing tennis yesterday. They are trying to con the FL again.

    Who?

This information, plus the Liam Lawrence walking perfectly well in Warsash snippet, would make great Twitter fodder :)

  2. Ah well that's ok then cos their in the same place. Done a bit of research and it turns out if you (like me) have an HD sky box already all you have to do is cancel your sky subscription and tell them you want free sat and the box reverts to free sat, poss with a new viewing card at £25 meaning I can use the 500gb box.

Almost correct. Your existing Sky box will continue to receive the Freeview channels (plus a few more over and above FreeSat, but nothing decent) but you WILL NOT be able to use the pause/record features: the box simply becomes a decoder/tuner box. If you want the 'Sky+' / PVR features, you have to pay £10/mth to Sky.

I'm in my cancellation period with Sky as they hacked me off over a billing issue. I was thinking of switching to FreeSat anyway, but half hoping Sky would contact me to offer some incentive to stay, but they haven't.

The only reason for me staying with Sky is for the football. Other than that, the basic Freeview channels are enough for us. Connected to the tv we have an Apple TV and have signed up to Netflix - to the Apple TV we can stream movies, music, tv shows etc from a networked drive (Mac Mini), AirPlay things from iPhones and iPads etc.

By using someone else's SkyGo sign in, we'll watch the football AirPlayed to the TV and Sky can go fūck themselves.

It's the Humax Foxsat or possibly the Sling box for me. Anyone had any experience of the Sling FreeSat box?

  3. You should consider the Veho Muvi instead. Great piece of kit, with loads of quality mounts. There's tons of pov footage on YouTube from them. Good prices too.

They're also local with a UK office/warehouse in Hedge End, and one of the guys, Ben, is a top bloke and a big Saints fan, and is/ was a member on TSW/TSF/S4E for ages.

Not sure which cam you'd need, but I'm sure they would advise you. Veho are on Facebook and Twitter - try Ben At Veho: @ben_vallance

  4. Call me a big softie but this just brought a lump to my throat....we have a pop at their fans for turning a blind eye to their conveyorbelt of dubious owners but the kids are none the wiser...

@pn_neil_allen: RT @MrKimbell: @officialpompey I had my 8 yr old nephew on the phone in tears tonight. The people who have shafted #Pompey have no idea

Bōllocks to them. Besides, kids are fickle - he'll only have 17miles to travel to watch Premiership football as he's growing up. The one thing that brings a smile to my face is the thought of all the bitter skates having no football league club and their kids and grandkids growing up following their nearest league club at St Mary's.

  5. I don't think it's got anything to do with "Apple's power", if supporting Flash was a sustainable market position the likes of Samsung wouldn't have announced they were abandoning it as well - it's just because of HTML5 meaning Flash basically isn't needed.

    Correct.

As ever, Apple were way ahead of everybody in refusing to entertain the idea of allowing the buggy and power-hungry Flash onto its devices.

With 50 million iPad 2s expected to be bought this year, plus the hundreds of millions of iPhones out there, all major sites (and minor ones!) will be seeing the light.

Flash is dead, people. Get over it and get on with complaining and pestering the web designers and site owners to move on.

  6. and don't even think of buying me different razor blades (Even if they are stupidly expensive (Razor blades not beans :) )

I used to be the same, but got fed up with the stupid prices that new blades cost. For the last 5 or 6 years I've only ever bought Aldi's own blades. Twin blades x10 used to be a stupid 99p and were just as good as Wilkison Sword / Gillette. Then a couple of year's ago they discontinued the twin blades for triple blades. Now they're £1.99 for 10, but are good and I'll never pay the stupid prices again.

Also, did you buy the Apple TV yet? With Netflix it's even more awesome.

  7. There is now a skill to defending unlike previous versions. You really need to learn when to switch the player you're controlling and when to back off mark while letting the jockeying player do his thing. Try to never switch players as a cross or corner comes in as you'll lose a yard or two and get done most times.

I'm not one for tinkering with tactics and formation really - I just play as different teams until I find one that kind of suits the way I play. Played lots as Saints initially and did ok; Had a good spell as Everton; But now I pretty much always play as Juventus. I leave it as the standard players, formation and tactics: then make three substitutions near the end when the same players tire.

I only ever play online Head To Head league games really. Currently plying my trade in Division 5.

If anyone fancies a game sometime (Xbox 360) then add my gamer tag Essruu.

  8. Who's the depressed femme?

If you were the PR girl and recognised the big fat Brit golf groupie from previous events, wouldn't YOU look depressed at the thought of him asking some dumb questions or trying to get his thumbs up photos with the players?

  9. ... Anyway, then i turned back to my car and there lodged in the front left wheel arch was a dead cat. Turns out i'd just killed some random cat asleep on the grass. Not sure what my point is but when it comes to putting your cat to sleep, make sure you get the right one.

    lol

  10. Just to let anybody out there with an Apple MacBook that their is a phishing virus out there at the moment which managed to get onto my MacBook and give out details of my mobile and banking accounts, they then ordered a new SIM card for my phone and when they received that they went about trying to get cash from my current account.

When the transaction raised a query with my bank, they tried to phone me but got through to the scammers who tried to authorise the transaction but couldn't answer the security question (i deliberately choose a different one for each account with financial issues) and my bank shut down my access to the funds.

Unfortunately i was on holiday in Australia at the time and it made life a bit of a pain in the arse, i phoned my bank after being refused access to my online banking which was straightforward, but they insisted i contact my phone provider to sort out the problem at that end before allowing me access to my accounts (annoying but fair enough).

This is where all the problems started, the phone numbers on the website wouldn't work from abroad and despite digging around the net i couldn't find an alternative number that would help. I then emailed them which took 2/3 days to get a response which asked me to ring the number on the website (despite me telling them in the email i couldn't get through) and then to use the virtual help systems on their website (oh, because i hadn't tried that!) In the end i posted on the Lounge forum and somebody found me a number which worked and the problem was sorted very quickly.

So, if you're using an Apple product then check it now, and if going abroad check the numbers for your banking and phone help actually work.

  11. I thoroughly recommend it.

It's great riding bare-back again, after so many years of wearing a mac.

I don't understand the need for condoms for contraceptive reasons with one's regular partner / girlfriend / wife, and couldn't imagine having to wear one every time. It's a needless faff when you can just pull out and squirt it over her face, her tits or down her throat.

  12.

Have they ever had a pet that has died? Mate of mine found it so much easier to explain to his youngest about the death of a family member after a pet had died than he had to his eldest previously.

I don't see how telling a small child that a fully grown adult has been flushed down the loo like a goldfish, or put in a wheelie bin like a gerbil is going to help.

  13. Another victim of this fawning, pretentious city full of f()ckwits?

The supposed venue isn't in the City Of Southampton; It's in the Test Valley district - so please p1ss off with your constant and pathetic slating of my city... or feck off to the PO post-code areas you love so much.

  14. You cleverly pointed out that you can stream movies from your HTC to the WDTV. Cleverly, as in 'omitted to mention' the inability to stream other non-movie content in the same way that you can on iOS devices with AirPlay - for photos, music, many Apps, for mirroring your device's screen onto your TV screen etc.

  15. Nothing wrong with the Lallana//Messi song IMO. It's one that can't be sped up to 100mph and ruined, unlike OWTSGMI and most other songs Saints sing. Plus, the arm-swaying actions create a good visual impact when the whole end does it. Don't let the skates sway your minds people. The biggest clubs in britain do it: -

    The Saints

    Man Utd

    Celtic
