  1. We have a fairly strong team but possibly the worst PL squad depth wise.

Totally agree. In a nutshell that was, unlike my long winded last post trying to say the same thing...haha

  2. Am i the only one who still thinks we have a fairly strong team?! I mean people espically the media think what has happened is the start of the end for southampton. Yes not as strong by any means as last season but still strong enough to easily hold our own this season, without adding any of the expected potential signings set to come in imho:

    Here goes:

    ----------------------------------Bourc-----------------------------------

    N.Clyne-------------J.Fonte--------------M.Yoshida--------------R.Bertrand

    ------------------M.Schneiderlin-------V.Wanyama-----------------------

    G.Ramirez------------------------------------------------------------D.Tadic

    --------------------------------JWP----------------------------------------

    ----------------------------Pelle/(Jay Rod)-------------------------------------------

With a subs bench of the followng:

    GK: Kelvin Davis

    J.Hooveld

    H.Reed

    J.Cork

    S.Davis

    E.Mayuka

    S.Gallagher.

This leaves out the likes of Lyodd Isgrove who has looked the dogs nuts in preason, and future star of the future Matt Target. Also there is Billy Sharp (i know), Sam McQueen, and Keepers Paulo Gazzaniga and Cody Cropper. Also Jack Stephens (likely to be loaned out to Swindon), and Jake Sinclair (I believe Jordan Turnball has allready joined Swindon on loan?) Also good things are expected of Omar Rowe but still one more for the future me thinks.

We have some really exciting young talent coming through who i think will easily make the grade. We can not block there progress by making signings for the sake of it, but having said that 3 or 4 more signings maywell be needed for squad depth and cover.

Maybe we need a bit more experienced players in the squad to arrive which we know is likely to happen, but i hope not at the younger players expence of not getting any game time:

All in all i feel our squad is still strong enough to compete midtable, but as others have said really lacks depth if we were to have injuries etc. I feel we need a keeper to make sure Boruc stays on his toes, a NEW CB to go and play along side Fonte and one more striker. Midfeild looks fine to me, although having said this we for some reason have been linked with midfeilders more than any other postion which is a bit worring! Oh and i nearly forgot another RB as Clyne is all we have i believe?

  3. The media are **** stirring because they know we are/have been a threat to the bigboys. This is unacceptable in there world of corruption and thus will do everything to dismantle such a threat. Look at David and Goliath, and we know who won in the end there...Keep the faith, all will be fine, we will have the last laugh-Mark my words

  4. As in the title. I feel he could make this position his own this season. Very attack minded IMO and him and Clyne down the right would be perfect. Callum reminds me of a young Gareth bale and I think playing him as a wide man needs some serious consideration. What's peoples views on this? PS it really might happen as it would be perfect for Ronald Koemans total football. Wingers are essential in this style of play. PS Callum is now listed as a midfield player on the OS. Hint....

  5. Intresting....

Przedblogowy: I wonder what's the source? ;)) RT @ Osuch_JSMG: From a reliable source: the closest Tuesday, Frank De Boer will be the coach of Southampton

mmmmmm got to be utter ********, didnt he turn down spurs? I would love it if we got De Boer though-**** you spuds!

  6. This - 100%.

Koeman will be a superb fit for us. We will carry on as before playing good football - probably with a more attacking slant. And he did land at Soton airport yesterday - mate of mine reported it as well.

Shaw is gone - but up to 30m for a "non key position" is fantastic compensation. Easily replaceable. Not with someone as good, but as I said, LB is not a key position.

SRL - we are selling at just the right time (tho would have been nice after the WC). Again he is replaceable with someone much better. And with fear of getting shot down in flames, I am not convinced his form second half of the season was that good.

The critical one is Lallana. God I hope he stays - and if he did we will surely reap the benefits. But if not we will have to bite the bullet and get on with it. There are others out there - but he is the sort of player people pay money to watch.

Cork and Fonte should have already been offered contracts. Even if we buy suitable alternatives, they are both still quality premier league players (and Cork was

Not far off my top three man of the season last year - especially the last half season.)

There is an awful lot of doom and gloom about and we are rightly concerned - but to my mind, we are still not far from having a very good close season. If it all falls into place we can easily Improve on last season.

    COYR!!
