Huge weekend despite NOT playing .... Doncaster must lose to whittle away those games in hand. A Donny win and we are 6 pts off them and still a game behind. I really believe Doncaster are our only hope for survival now.
Yes I know about watford (going down) and barnsley immediately nearby BUT this Doncaster match IS the BIG one.

There comes a time when you put kids under so much stress that they freeze and ger frightened... saints are there for the taking from all comers now!!!
expect administration soon as proof/realisation of this!!!
-
Of course you're right. No doubt Donny will be taking their foot off the pedal between now and the end of the season with their incredible 1 point cushion.
ty sarky chops of course this post was totally and wholly from a saints perspective frankly i dont give a 4 X about either of the other 2 teams in the bottom 3, but to clarify....all of the bottom 3 are in such a state that the CURRENT maths suggests we are all stranded...both Charlton & watfords only glimmer of hope is that that both have to play Saints so both are guaranteed at least 3 points.. beyond that... all 3 DOOOMED....ya hear me DOOOMED!!!

What a load of rubbish. I have never played in, watched or ever been associated with a team that accepts it is not good enough. Saints should & could be good enough to stay in this league. I tell you what - I wish I could take over - I think I would do a better job!
Corky gets my vote!!! Poll please mods!!!

That above is our home record this season. That alone says good bye Championship hello Carlisle United, Leyton Orient, Walsall et al.
If anyone think we will 'do a Leicester City' and 'walk this league' think again.
I'm afeared that I will never see Southampton FC play in the top flight again or maybe even the next level. I'm 47 in July I should be happy that I did go to the winning FA Cup final and I did see a Southampton side that were exciting, entertaining and damn near invincible at home.
I am sorry for any young lads who have only just started supporting the club in recent years as I did back in 1969-70. You have got some really crappy years to come.
That's it for me. I won't even think about football anymore after tonight. I'm finished with it this season.
Dave I hope you are still online I feel exactly tthe same... to know that what HAS happened will be as good as it is ever going to get depressing.

lose to watford and we are then 5 points adrift of THIRD from bottom and they still would have a game in hand on us and of course goals scored by watford against us are literally double value!!!
-
18 Norwich 31 -7 32
19 Derby 29 -11 32
20 Barnsley 30 -12 32
21 Doncaster 29 -12 31
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22 Watford 30 -11 30
23 Southampton 31 -19 28
24 Charlton 31 22
Doncaster, Barnsley, Derby, Norwich, Forest.... all safe now this will be the bottom 3!!
And all were prem teams in the last 6 years!!!!!
-
Radio Sheff thought we deserved the point when we equalised.
It is bleak, but we've been further adrift in past relegation battles. Plus we've got two away games coming up!!! Keep the faith, it's all we've got!
but in those days we had
a) MLT
b) The Dell

Watford next game the death knoll?

er wasnt this game scheduled when the fixtures were published in the summer? We cant decide to play it just because its cold and the ref certainly isnt going to call it off because Saints fans dont fancy it... so overall we have to take the rough with the smooth... sorry

A league 1 manager for a league 1 team ... makes sense!
-
sort of sums it up dontcha think?
-
.. the eve of game 30..
No matter the result tomorrow even if they all go in saints favour AND we win at home. Saints will still be in the bottom 3!!!
-
I cannot think of a time when he has been of any particular use to us... Skacel that is

I cannot believe that so many people still believe we will survive this mess bith financially and in football terms. I am no pessimist, we are wrecked and the only reason we have NOT gone into administration so far is because Lowe has been hoping for a 10point barrier to lessen the blow of points deduction. He now knows its gone and with it our chances of staying up. His final mistake will be to leave it until next season, by which we will have the points deducted in a lower league!!!!!!
a & b inevitable QED
-
short answer to thread question.... NO
-
Given the events of the last few weeks/months/years at saints I believe that
a) relegation
b) administration
are both inevitable (But not necessarily in that order)
Changing manager or indeed board will not change that this year.
Sorry and obviously IMHO.
-
My point is if you are following my earlier comments are a new manager can still get us out of this mess even if he came in mid Feb.
JP will never achieve that because the players have become clueless as he is ****ing crap.
i understand BUT as i have said in another thread we wont get another manager and lets face it we cant afford the calibre that would help us... so for the sake of another upheaval lets just leave it all to bottom out... sadly and i cant believe iam saying this... the obvious conclusion is now INEVITABLE
-
We have plenty of time.
Three wins on the bounce and that would leave us out of the zone.
Then you will reach a period (last month of the season) where every team at the bottom fight for there lifes and somehow start to get loads of points.
Thats where we need to make sure the team is fighting because the club always has the inner spirit to survive in the end.
we cant beat doncaster we cant beat forest both at home!!!!
look at the next set of fixtures... any gleam of hope? Confidence sky high....? I didnt think so...
-
My concern as well.
I'm worried that the spirit has gone, the youngsters have been blooded too early & their progress set back, the transfer window wasted etc etc etc.
That said, other teams have managed to turn things around, Forest are 5th in the 8 game Current Form Table and Doncaster 9th, so here's hoping.
yes thats because they had the great fortune to play us!!!
-
28 games played
9 games left at home
9 games to be played away
the trend suggests we will do better away than at home ... so
away results 3 draws 1 win 6pts
home results 3 draws 1 win 6pts
total points at end of season 38pts
Do you think we will stay up this year. Use your head and not your heart, be honest

this is not the club it used to be. No grafters, no hard men ,no raw talent or leadership to get us out of this situation. When in "survival" mode we nearly always were just keeping our heads above the drop zone... we dont have any of these qualities or circumstances,, we are down and showing no signs of improvement. The worst part is that next year we could be going through this all over again!!!
