  1. mods can we change the title to just 'jimmy saville' and my opening post to just 'discuss' please as i'm disgusted at it all! and this thread was started a year ago, thanks

  2. well just discovered this thread again lol, obviously I started it the day he died with the story rolling on BBC about him being good for charitys and his wacky tv shows etc, but now having heard all of this I take back my 'RIP etc' ..he was a weird man

  3. Must be the only game I've attended where I didn't celebrate a goal. That equaliser meant nothing to me. After the dominant first half, to go 1 - 0 down was shocking, and I wanted nothing but all three points. We got it, happy days. Superb control of the football - I don't like people who hark on about possession stats but 60% to us flattered them in all honesty. We comprehensively outplayed Villa today.

    I am getting ever more worried however about the fact that our players can't seem to stay on their feet - not through tackling, but just slipping over. Those basic defensive errors that we are continually being told will be ironed out are still there. Clyne and Fonte are always falling over.

    Clyne was my MOTM personally, and whilst Ramirez was very good, I fear a lot of people got caught up in the hype of seeing our new man start his first Saints game. Clyne was everywhere, tracking back, making last ditch tackles, interceptions, not to mention his goal.

    Lambert was out of the game at one point and I wanted him subbed. Fair play to him, he got a chance and took it. I should know better than to doubt him...!

    yes you should, never doubt the lambert ... ever!

  4. sat in the arsenal end that was a painful day out.

    my thoughts;

    we knocked the ball around at the back quite nicely at times but when it came to moving forward we ran out of ideas and simply weren't quick enough to pick out the pass (conversly arsenal were awesome at doing this yesterday)

    ricky was marked out of the game and had practically no service, when he did it was a punted ball big sam style, which added to the confusion in terms of our playing style

    we are still knocked off the ball far too easily, the only player who didnt let this happen was ramirez when he came on

    yoshida looked confident unlike the rest of the team and ramirez looked a cut above everyone else in our squad.

    the only way is up but nigel needs to sort his starting 11 out now and work out his strategy for the prem, because at the moment we are about as confused as a box full of frogs

  5. dont get me wrong I love adkins and can see where he was coming from, lambert was cream crackered, as was lallana and he was probably thinking with united throwing the kitchen sink at us muyuka might get a goal on the counter and it would be the icing on the cake moment, but realistically we shouldnt really have made any of those substitutions and instead just of adjusted our shape

  6. as adkins has always said, focus on us, we did in league 1 and championship and it is exactly what we need to do now we are in the prem, where there will be even more attention, people like merson giving five mins of dribble shouldnt even feature on our radar

  7. my thoughts;

    we looked aimless at times, just happy to knock it around at the back in the hope that something might eventually come from it, lallana looked lost (aside from his one moment of brilliance), cant understand why ward prowse didnt start, we needed injections of energy/pace all over the pitch, rodriguez clearly doesnt like being out on the wing and we were far too easily knocked off the ball all game ...also the ref/lino were crap

  8. for me it was an expensive reality check that we havent got this pre season right, euros and olympics somehow to blame for not enough transfers and i'm not sure we know our starting line up anymore ..if we beat city it will be more luck than judgement thats for sure and a miracle t'boot

  9. went to the udinese game yesterday, they looked like a football team, we had pub team esque organisation, granted its a pre season friendly, but I guess in my mind I thought we might look a bit more like a team than we did ... rickie looks unfit again, lallana not in the game really, leaking goals, we were so light weight as well, brushed off of everything ... the only glimmer of hope was clyne looked an awesome addition ... in short, i'm fearful ...

  10. seems like a complete waste of money to me, unless you like watching random tuesday morning training ground chats, for the record arsenal fans get it included in their season ticket price (but they do pay upwards of 900 quid for a season ticket)
