  1. I haven't posted for over a year, but I feel the need now. Puel has got to go. That damn diamond has to go with him. No wingers = no crosses = no chances = no goals. Puel still thinks he is in France where they are used to this boring and uninspiring crap. Please Mr. Puel, leave!

  2. My boss is sending me over to the UK for 3-6 weeks, which means that after many years I'll be able to come back to St. Mary's!!

I will be staying in Nottingham and would like to drive down for the Leicester game on the 8th.

Will tickets be on sale on game day to the general public?

  3. Does anyone think that with 4 decent CBs Koeman might sometimes go for the 3-5-2 he used at Feyenoord? I think we now have the players to do it well (better than Man U, at least)...

    -----------------------Forster--------------------

    ------Alderweireld----Fonte----Gardos---------

    ---Clyne---Schneiderlin---JWP---Bertrand-----

    --------------------Tadic-------------------------

    ------------Mane------------Pelle----------------

Boruc (if he stays?), Yoshida, Targett, Cork, Wanyama, Davis, Long

A decent looking subs bench too (would look better with Ramirez, granted). Obviously Wanyama, Cork and Davis would all be challenging JWP for his place. And Long challenging Mane and Pelle up front.

I'm not sure I'm super keen on it as it seems a waste not to be able to fit one extra of Wanyama, Cork or Davis in the team. But wouldn't be surprised if Koeman tried to introduce something like this for the odd game at least.

That looks absolutely awesome. If Alderweireld and Gardos live up to expectations that could be a high scoring and hard to beat team.

  4. Forster

    Clyne - Fonte - Gardos - Bertrand

    Morgan - Wanyama - Taider

    Long - Pelle - Tadic

Wanyama steps back to make three when required. Long & Tadic effectively mobile and interchange. FB's overlap. Fluid going forward. Pressing from Long & Tadic in first instance and supported by rest.

    Bench

Boruc Cork Yosh Ramirez Reed JWP Gallagher etc

    That looks pretty awesome

  5. Boruc was only 'okay', nothing special.

But he had quite a few real clangers that have cost us points last season.

And with only a year left in his contract this is a perfect time to bring in a new and experienced goalie who can be our anchor in defence for 4-5 years. Koeman is absolutely right in stating that.

  6. There are in reality three separate mini-leagues in The Prem. The top five, and just possibly Spurs and Everton fighting for Europe, then seven or eight fighting for the middle places, and the relegation league.

As long as we're in the middle league this season I don't much mind.

If we're being honest then our ambition is normally sixth to tenth. To break into the top league would require huge ambition and investment on the part of the owner and a stadium enlargement, as much as I'd like to see it happen I doubt it will.

  7. Koeman confirmed to the media after the PC

" Schneiderlin trained with his team-mates this week, albeit spending two days separately as he regains fitness following an extended rest after the World Cup. I spoke to him and the situation has not changed - we don't sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that"

"The situation is difficult, the player makes it difficult," Koeman said.

"I spoke to him with our chairman and the situation has not changed - we don't sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that.

"He will continue as a football player of Southampton. Now it is up to him."[/QUOTE]

Take note Morgan - YOUR CHOICE; rot in the reserves or knuckle down and prove you're as good as you think you are so maybe you can leave in the January window.

  8. Totally agree with you Norm. I for one am looking forward to the new season. We got some good new players in, and I am sure more will follow. And with one of my fellow countrymen at the helm I of course can only be optimistic that we will play attractive football.

  9. Obviously there are a few that still trust the board and fair play to them, but I think it is fair to say that a large section of the fan base have lost faith and my concern is that a few bad results at the start of the season could lead to the discontent spreading and becoming more vocal.

So my question is what do they need to do to regain this trust or is it beyond repair for some fans?

For me, I have no delusions of grandeur this season (or any to be honest - we're a provincial club with a limited fanbase), and 2-3 more signings will allow us to be competitive in this league, and that's enough for me. Am I accepting mediocrity? Maybe, but to me as long as I can go to the games with my Dad and brother, meet up with our mates, have a great day get a bit drunk and give most teams a good game then I'm happy.

They don't need to do ANYTHING o regain that trust. They never lost it, except for a few bedwetters

  10. As has often been said, we ae currently the victims of our own success. It is immensively flattering to have the best clubs in the country after our players and an ex player playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. As has also been said we are not a big club and if it is true that Shaw is on something like £100k or £120k a week it is easy to see why we cant keep players. A few years ago, apart from a few notable exceptions, we couldnt give players away. If the club (which includes Les Reed) had not done so well in turning things around we wouldnt have enjoyed the last few seasons so much - this is the payback. However there is no reason the belive that the world is coming to an end - things are changing - that is all. Yes, it is a lot to take in and it isnt very nice to see so many players go in one window but there is no point in kicking off until we see what squad we have come the end of the transfer window.

I never thought I would agree with sadoldgit, but I do agree 100%:)

  11. That's the thing. By most reasonable measures we aren't. The amount we were offered for Chambers was crazy high. Wenger admits it's a big risk for Arsenal. Most people here rate Chambers below Clyne. We spent less than that to acquire what seems to be an exciting upgrade to Rickie Lambert.

We can spend that money on a great new LB (with Targett as backup) and a strong supporting RB. ...and overall the squad is strengthened and better balanced.

The problem is the perception... and suspicion that the money we're getting in won't be recycled. But if it is, the actual deals done so far all seem to be really strong business deals. There's no evidence Reed is a bad negotiator. Indeed, it's he who brought in the Koeman brothers.

We're supposed to be supporters. I think it's too early to hit the panic button. The alleged communication issues with the players does trouble me, and I'd love to know the full back story. But in terms of actual public transactions, there's no evidence of incompetence. These deals are actually pretty amazing... PROVIDED the money is now well spent.

    Spot on!

  12. Contrary to many posts on here I would have thought Koeman will be delighted with the current situation and the opportunity to bring in his own players.

The fact he seems to be OK with it - based on what he has said so far - leads me to believe he feels that we need better players to improve on last seasons position.

All very exciting if that is the case.

I accept that things look bad right now and play into the hands of the pessimists but we are only half way through the turnaround.

It would be good though if the club could give us some reassurance that this is the plan as this would stop a lot of the negative feeling that is dominant at the moment.

    This.

  13. I work in the corporate world. I have never seen such accerelated asset stripping as I'm seeing right now.

Well.. Good luck katharina .. I hope you can sleep at night!!

The rest of us. .. I think as long as we only drop to league 1 we'll be ok. Still got some good kids coming through

Another complete BS post. Asset stripping? In what world does an organization spend millions on new "assets" if they are in the process of asset stripping? You say you are in "the corporate world" (nicely vague description by the way), but you clearly have no corporate sense.

  14. Oh my God! What is with all those wrist-slitters on this board?

Based on absolutely no REAL information, and with only their pathetic need to find fault everywhere with anything and anybody, they are making judgements about the abilities and actions of KL, RK, Les Reed, Koeman and anybody else who is involved with thye club. based on absolutely no reliable information, but just on rumors.
