Oh, Tim not you? Please not you?
You are always quite upbeat and less cynical than most, with a level head. if you are a litte bit afeared for the coming game, what chance the rest of us.
I bet i'll find Alpine full of confidence.
I think we'll be fine. Unlike most seasons we already have a team in place and raring to go.
Please try and be a little bit more full of good cheer
And COYS
Thanks SSA - even allowing for a little irony, you make a good point about 'a team in place'...
-
I also think we'll get relegated. FFS, at the end of last season I thought we'd be in with a shout of promotion, but what with this preseason and with us not buying midfielders that can be good replacements for the injured ones the only way is down. What I'd give to be a Pompey fan right now.
They need all the help they can get, so now you've shown your colours - off you go with our blessings and best wishes mate.
Good luck.

Tim, I'm looking forward to Saturday and wary about the opposition (being a Saints fan, I'm wary about every team we play, if you get my meaning). As for weary, no, only many of the posters on here make me weary.
Thanks for that, totally get it. Nice response mate.

This will be the start of a long hard slog. Why did anyone think it would be easy ?
Off topic a bit I know...but isn't that what the skates are known for, Daleks? i.e. The pompee Dalek boys??
-
Hey, i'm pretty upbeat...yet have some real reservations after our underwhelming pre-season??? Thoughts....
Whoops...weary, should read 'wary'...sorry.

I never understood why we let Kyle Davies go. I saw a couple of his performances for us and he looked the part - wasn't he the USA U17 captain?
He is a decent young player and doing fairly well in Texas. An earlier poster was also correct about Ryan Smith - he shone in KC's win over Man Utd, NY Saint is right the Red Bulls guys tore up a lack-lustre looking Bridge in Citeh's 2-1 defeat to MLS opposition...Just as footnote DC United rounded off a memorable trio of US club wins this week-end over 2009-10 Prem opposition by thumping a sad pompee side 4-0......
-
Maybe a bit of a stretch, but does anyone see a kinda similarity in the way that Vassel has always maximized his talents ala Keggy?
-
Both were subs yesterday Kyle Davies for Dallas and Leandre Griffit came off the bench to score for for Columbus.

Hi Tim, different opinion from me. I thought Martin Tyler (as always) was a tedious bore. Blathering on with boring facts while the game is going on (too lazy to keep up with the game), and from his tone of voice barely looking up from his prepared notes of boring facts when a goal went in, often just muttering that the ball is in the back of the net in a dull matter-of-fact voice. He certainly did his job to turn off Americans from "soccer."
On the other hand Ian Darke (along with Derek Rae and Adrian Healey) were excellent IMHO.
Martin is a huge Big Ron fan and gives him a call and offers him support, so I probably have a soft spot for him...
-
Say positively excellent more Emily...I dare you...
Comments about her auditioning for The Office is spot on.
Tom...thank goodness you said that, I thought it was only me for a moment....

I do hope everyone's optimism is to be rewarded. Our defence should be stronger with the recent acquisitions and we will certainly frighten opposition with our attack, but we haven't yet strengthened our midfield. How do we break down sides that pack the goalmouth in away matches. We need a midfield schemer to challenge Schneiderlin when he is injured, and a tough ball-playing replacement for Wotton. We don't have the speed on the wings that we had last season with either Papa or Antonio who were fast and unpredictable, surprised defences and turned matches, and without them we are a more predictable team. Norwich last season were a complete outfit in all departments. We aren't yet if we are to make top spot.
I expect us to do well, but reality check, please.
Fair comment ep, still think 90 pts is fairly conservative.
-
I think it is Hingston not Hingson, bloody Yanks can't even get names right
Whoops sorry Nik.

Ok I'd probably go...

Shefffield Wednesday for home defeat
, several pitches still hindering away form somewhat, but hopefully still finishing on 97 pts with improved GS and GA with a complete team from the off building on overall results from last season.
Like y'rationale Giger!

Sure l'm an Solent Southerner , from England's isle I came,
To see my British brethren all of honour and of fame,
And to tell them of my forefathers who fought in days of yore,
That I might have the right to wear, the sash my (Great-great-grand)father's (team) wore!
Chorus:
It is old but it is beautiful, and its colours they are fine
It was worn in Shirley, Hightown, Lower Swanwick and the Warrens.
My (Great-great-grand)father wore it as a youth in bygone days of yore,
And on the Terrace I love to wear the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore.
Chorus
For those brave men who crossed into Fratton have not fought or died in vain
Our Unity, History, Team, and Colours to maintain,
If the call should come we'll follow the Wagon, and cross that river once more
That tomorrow's Southerners may wear the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore!
Chorus
And when some day, across the Itchen to So'ton's shore you come,
We'll welcome you in Saints style, to the sound of OWTSGMI
And Lordshill's hills shall echo still, from Bassett to Swanmore
As we sing again the loyal strain of the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore!
That was easy ;-)

I think almost everyone hated it because their team went out early ('cept Javi) and in our case by England's abysmal and embarrassing showing.
Here's is a few of the things I will choose to remember.
GVB's goal
The SA opener
Lando's Hollywood ending
The Ghana - Suarez stunner
Martin Tyler's excellent commentary
Ruud Gullit and Jurgen Klinsman's wonderfull analysis
The best team actually winning
The wonderully spirited, undefeated Kiwis
The embracing of 'soccer' over here
DIEGO FORLAN!!!
The cavalier Germans and Argentines
Joy in Africa
Things I'll let slip from my mind
The refereeing (goal-line technology/offside/handball in walls/lame yellows)
Agony/diving
Asking for cards
WAYNE 'TRAILER-TRASH' ROONEY, people spent their life's saving to watch you not try Wayne.
Efan Ekuko
Ian Darke
Vuvawhatsits
Septic Bladder and Miserable Platini
Ricardo Clarke
Low's outfits and his 'partner's'???

I agree, also if you flick over to Fox Soccer Channel you'll find all the old Sky Sports pundits - Richard Keys presenting and Andy Gray and the like doing the analysis. They do dumb it down a bit (Keys interrupted a conversation to point out Netherlands is the same place as Holland), but nevertheless I've been impressed.
Well noticed mate...have to say, not 'too' patronizing tho'
