If we can beat Doncaster on Saturday then Blackpool away becomes a bit of a ‘bonus card’ game. With Wham and Reading playing each other at 3pm were going to have an opportunity to gain points on one/both when we kick off at 5.20pm and we’ll still be a good 3-5 points clear of 2nd or 3rd depending on their results. Obviously assuming we beat Donnie on Saturday.

CB's were class both defensively and attackingly. COYR!!!

Stop worrying people. We're going up. Let's start getting used to it.
This isn't counting chickens, or gloating, or tempting fate.
For us to secure going up we need about ten points to hit 85 which is a decent guess of the requirement for second. Ten points in eight games. So not much more than a point a game. Three wins and a draw. 1.25 points a game - basically relegation form. To get promoted. So even if the wheels do come off, we'll probably go up automatically anyway. Good, eh?
It makes me laugh there are people who will still say "it's typical saints, we'll mess it up".
Really?
People still associate "typical Saints" with failure despite us now in our third consecutive season of winning pretty much every game we play.
"Typical Saints" means winning.
"Typical Saints" means clean sheet, after clean sheet, after clean sheet.
"Typical Saints" means goals, goals, goals.
"Typical Saints" means we are Southampton, we're top of the league.
"Typical Saints" means going to Wembley and lifting a trophy
"Typical Saints" relentlessly hounding 300-match unbeaten Huddersfield out of the promotion race.
"Typical Saints" means top of the Championship first season back pretty much from day one to March.
"Typical Saints" means player of the season and the stand out managerial performance of the year.
"Typical Saints" means no megastars apart from our homemade ones, no greedy b astar ds on fat salaries, and brilliant team spirit.
"Typical Saints" means we're going to do this thing.
Start believing everyone.
Class post.
Since Marcus we are a new breed. This is a new chapter which paves the way for some exciting times. COYR!!!!

Yeah does anyone know? The fecking useless tickets don't give any info.

If he does that and history repeats itself, they will equalise from the kick-off
That was horrendous at the time. I remember Stelling saying some of the Saints fans in the studios were celebrating and then were crushed after the equaliser.

I think that last season's experience will be the key to promotion.
Yeah I agree. Reading remind me very much so of Huddersfield. Our players have experienced the pressure of holding a top 2 spot unlike Reading and West Ham most recently.

Anyone going by coach? It says it departs at 1030 but in classic fashion doesn’t say it this is from Fleet services or St Mary’s.

We have plenty of cover for Lee and were doing pretty good before he signed so I see no reason to panic. Hope its nothing that will keep him out for too long though. He is brilliant at playing off the shoulder of the defender and getting in behind which creates space for others and gives us another attacking option. Not sure if Sharp plays like this or not. Not seen enough of him yet to judge.

#Saintsfc striker Tadanari Lee a major doubt for trip to Millwall with ankle injury. Was on crutches today. Connolly also doubtful.
Sharp and Lambert upfront then.
This is a could opportunity then for Sharp to show us what he's about.

I would bring Chaplow in for Guly and Cork for Hammond for this game. Leave the rest unchanged.

What a hilarious read. Fickle bunch.

Full stadium, less chance of losing best players, more chance of signing better players, more recognition on tv, more chance of international honours for our players, chance of beating the biggest teams, chance of actually progressing and achieving something longer term.
No-one would really prefer this league. They just look at the wins, but in reality people like the winning because it's a chance of promotion. Take promotion away and excitement would disappear, as would attendances. We lost a lot in the top flight before, but it was worth it for the chance of those great results, keeping MLT, the memorable goals and just being a part of it all. No reason we can't stay up there a long time, build a better team and have some decent cup runs.
I just hope we stick with NA as long as possible. After 2 promotions I'd hope he'd earned a couple more years regardless. But i have no doubts we'd do well anyway. We'll build and improve, but I have no little respect for the quality of that bottom 6 or 7 clubs I don't think we'd have had any problems this season with our current squad. A together club used to winning is a huge asset. Most the relegation clubs usually have in a common a season or more or turmoil.
Agree with this.
And with our current set up who knows what the future holds.

If its to celebrate promotion then great. If its a must win then the nerves will be horrendous.

Any internet mongboarder could have seen the change in Lamberts fitness under Adkins. Lambert even said so himself.
-
Best player for me for us and in the division. Without him we are not really the same team.
That said when he came off on Saturday we played well still.
-
Either way its clear as crystal that we have high fitness levels. Look at the transition of Lambert under Pardew to Adkins.
-
3 points here would be massive. Then a draw at Hull. We need to keep the pressure on Wham and Reading.
-
We are yet to see the real Sharp yet. I agree with others Adkins is getting Sharp 'Saints fit'. I think like what Adkins did with Lambert he is adapting his game and improving his fitness. I think we have some special moments yet to come from Sharp.
Also Lee is keeping him out of the team on merit.
Isn't it lovely to have so much competition for places. Blood marvellous.
-
SSN says Lambert is a doubt. Bloody hope not.
-
Which means he'll have a blinding debut against us.
-
It was awful tbh. Can we get a better song? What happened to the Jam one? Or the Coldplay one?
-
Cork in the 2nd half played to perfection. Lambert though was on another footballing planet. Pure class fron the team. 100% positive. Bring on West Hoof.
Jos and Jose best centre back pairing in Championship?

I admit I had some doubts about Fonte during our dodgy spell but thankfully I was wrong.
They seem to get better with each game. I think in the Premiership they could look even better with more time on the ball.
As for Jos. Well he is the best defender in the league with sheer ease.
