Ah, forgot that. It was shown. McCarthy didn't handle outside the box, imo - it was very close, though. He dropped it just level with the edge, as far as I could tell. Would've been harsh to give it against him. However... MotD did show that the Burnley forward tried to kick the ball out of McCarthy's hands at the time (which is why he dropped it), so would've been a free kick to Saints. I was surprised it wasn't given.

Ok, just watched MotD highlights. My thoughts: 1. Burnley goal was handball. No VAR = goal (not enough 'live' evidence). VAR = probably disallowed. 2. Ref wasn't "in the way"; he stood still & Burnley got themselves in a tangle around him because of a misdirected pass. Their fault. 3. Gabbi didn't foul Long before scoring. Long fell over trying to get the ball but missing. 4. It was a better finish than any description in the media I've come across so far - nice volley on the turn. 5. No pen for Burnley at the end = correct decision. Barnes fell over while backing into the defender. 6. Dyche is a moaning minnie. 7. Nice to see Redmond involved in a move leading to a goal. 8. Overall, on limited highlights, seems like we just about deserved our 1 point. oh, and... 9. Sims. Play him more!

I think the idea of left-footers playing on the right, & vice versa, is so they have better shooting chances if they cut in. Townsend & Coutinho proof it can work. Doesn't seem to work for us - neither Redmond nor Tadic shoot often enough & they're not good enough from distance (20+ yards). Swap 'em back.

WBA seem terrified whenever Redmond gets the ball. Can't understand why, but we should make the most of it - give him the ball & get support up there.
