JWP is too slow and is not an elite footballer like those you mentioned to make up for it.
JWP is too slow, but other players just as slow or slower are not to slow because they are elite mids? LOL was jorginho an elite mid before or after he joined chelsea or was it when he then gunners for 12 mill?? Kroos wasnt even considered a top player when bayern brought him, then sold him to real where he florished and became an elite mid...... Muller is hardly an elite mid when he is a striker. but same applys, he was not a top player for a long time after he joined bayern. Grealish couldnt buy an england cap BEFOR he joined City ( Not that he is slow, but this highlights my point ).
Ive never seen any player be regarded as Elite before they played at an elite club. Even KDB was not regarded as good till years after he left Chelsea, and only when City brought him did he turn out to be one of the best. How can you say how good a JWP would play surronded by players 3 - 5 times better than that at this club? If he had a decent striker up front, and he put 70 odd good chance into the box, how many assist you think he would get? here, a mere 4, but some thing tells me that having a player with finishing ability up front he would have far more than 4.
Even Tadic never got his deserved praise till he joined Ajax, after just half a season, he was considered one of the best....
Jose Fonte was slower than JWP, didnt stop him becoming a top top defender, some might even say he was world class, as he only got better and better with age, and went on to put in consistantly amazing performances both at club, and on the international stage, winning the euros, his lack of pace against some of the worlds fastest players certainly didnt hinder Portugal, or him.
I think you use his lack of pace as a stick to beat him with for no reason, He has been and is by far our best player, has created more chances than all of our attacking players put together ( Taking out Che though ) and is our top goal scorer, all from playing out of pisition, in the worst team in the league, that was scared to have possesion.-

I wouldn't put JWP in quite the same bracket as those players!
That wasnt the point being made, i quote " JWP is too slow for a team that expects to be in the top 6." those i mentioned are all just as slow as JWP, some was considered the best in the world when in top form. and tbh, JWP makes top 6 creators whilst playing at Saints with a team mostly devoid of any footballing talent, If you dont think he would perform even better with a team full of much better players, well thats upto you.
Some thing tells me, JWP playing with out the pressure of the whole club on him, and with a team full of players expected to win games on their own and not him tells me he would perform far better at a club like United / Liverpool / City / Newcastle / gunners and chelsea where he would have far far more belief in those around him it would free teh shackles he has to wear playing DM at Saints.

Is Gundogan not just as slow as JWP? he doesnt do to bad at city. didnt he get a brace againts Real too? Busquets at Barca - Jorginho also says hi - Toni Kroos is slow as hell too
Muller doesnt do to bad at bayern either.-

Limited value to Newcastle though surely? Not better than Bruno or Joelinton for the roles they perform, and they have Trippier for set pieces.
Wouldn't he slot next to bruno instead of one of longstaff or willock? In the 433 formation they play?

So a bloke who calls other supporters dense, thinks Prowse is a “class above” Lavia 😂
Lavia has been pretty good for his age and has huge potential, But he hasnt been better than JWP, JWP is top for attacking actions and top on defensive actions, Lavia looks lavish with his style of play and trying to muscle his way out of shit, but he loses possesion far more than JWP, and doesnt exactly burst a gut to get back after losing the ball either, a nice slow stroll mostly does it, His passing comes up short mostly too, or it is mostly backwards as he has shown over the course of the season, in which he has only half of jwps progressive passes, and half of jwps passing distance covered. i guess we can say he drove forward with the ball at his feet a whole 3 times more and covered a whole 9 yards more with the ball at his feet than JWP over the season. But thats about it tbf.
But he is young, and he looks to have a huge amount of " potential " and could certainly become better than JWP.
But we all thought that about Lemonaid Lemina too, and look at what happened to him..........-

Agreed - I don't see him going anywhere other than a West Ham / Villa type (maybe Brighton). He's a bulk standard top 10 player at best. Up until this season, we were his level, he was our level. I can't see him ending his career with a ton of medals wherever he goes.
it'll be sad from a sentimental point of view and he is one of the limited ones who care, but I wouldn't be too arsed if he goes. Free kicks aside (who everyone has now cottoned onto the fact its better to let us shoot then give away a free kick), he's not a match winner and doesn't dictate games.
Do we miss him when he's not there? Of course, that's because anyone coming in to fill his spot is fucking useless. could we replace him or more so what he offers (again free kicks aside).. imo easily.
We will of course miss his free kick ability. That would get you 10 goals in the championship.
Are Newcastle not favs to sign him? a team going into to Europe, with Spurs also an apparent destination? Even talks of him joining Poch at Chelsea.....
Also, who do you think could come in replace JWP and start dictating games at southampton? i can think of players who would improve the team, but i cant think of that ultimate signing that would come in and start dictating games all on his own, Like swapping JWP for Kante is going to make a difference to this lot LOL.

And as i already said, to what purpose? If it didnt work in the first 100 mins of football, and the only time you do score is when you put the ball on a platter 3 yards from goal, and you have on your own created more than half of all your teams chancs to score, in this game, and throughout the season, having watched just under 80 chances be wasted, for what purpose do you want him to pass it forward for? so he can chase after it again to win it back for the 5000000000000th time this season? ( you know because not one Saints player covers the ground JWP does ) or fish it out his own net? get in a last ditch block? tell every body what to do for the 10000000000000000000000000000th time?
PS. JWP has made twice the progressive passes than his nearest team mate, has made nearly half of all our teams chances to score, so many he sits comfy in the top 6 most creative players in the LEAGUE, while all our players apart from Che are out side the top 130.....

So this afternoon, and I admit the game is lost.......in the last minute of extra time he passes back when we had the opportunity to go forwards. I really can't wait to see the back of this loser.
3-1 down and you want to go forward? for the last 60 secs to do what exactly? you hoping he sets up a goal ( to attackers who cant finish ), and hope Brighton quickly take kick off and another team member sets us up for a 3rd and 4th? Was JWP and Theo not the only two players on the pitch to even create any chances in the first place? Alcaraz missed a sitter, Aribo was invisible, like Ely was too, Lavia was not at his normal standard, Theo was Theo, Least he got the ball in the net, shame it was offside mind.
If every mid / forward / striker we have got hit just half of JWP's numbers, we wouldnt even be in the situation we are in.
Next Saints player is 91st, so only two Saints players top 100, in fact only two saints players in the top 130
Passes backwards and sideways so much he still sits in the top 6 of most chances created in the league ( Was he not top 6 end of last season too? ) how he manages to create so many chances when he only passes backwards and sideways ill never know......
Cue the " but he takes all the free kicks and corners", I cant remeber the last time KDB didnt take one, or Bruno, Or Maddison, Or Trent,or Trippier, or Mount, its also fair to say, these all take far more than him too.

Thing is stats never tell the full story.
He takes all the free-kicks, corners and penalties. That immediately inflates his stats. He also by far plays the most. I'm not saying these are bad things, but it hides his open-play deficiencies.
Stats can't measure his positioning - my biggest complaint of him (how many of his passes come from the times he drops into the backline and we spend the next five minutes passing it across the sideways not going anywhere?). Stats don't measure composure on the ball - he panics under pressure and that reflects across our whole team in the number of points we've chucked away from winning positions. Stats don't measure how quickly he moves the ball - we all know how slow our build-up play is. Stats don't measure how a midfielder dictates the play - can you name me the last time we've truly controlled the game, even against the lower league teams (and I'm not talking about loads of possession but not going anywhere).
Personally, I don't care how many goals our midfielder gets, I just want someone who can control the game, manage the tempo, play the ball quickly with one touch when needed, and for me JWP doesn't do that. It's definitely nowhere near all his fault, and with better players I'm sure he'd also be better. But the best midfielders raise the level of the whole team: on the rare occasion JWP hasn't played it really hasn't made much difference (though I know its a choice between terrible or awful). And there is a reason why no other teams (apart from Villa when they were chucking silly money at anyone) have really made a big push for to get him. He'll be a decent squad player for someone I'm sure - but given the importance of having a midfielder who can break the lines in today's game, I can't see him displacing many of the current PL starters.

Bruno is top, Takes all Uniteds corners and free kicks.
Trippeir 2nd, Takes all newcastles free kicks and corners.
KDB 3rd, Takes all Citys free kicks and corners.
JWP 4th, takes all Saints free kicks and corners
Not doing to bad and what good company he is in whilst playing at the worst team in the in the league, If only JWP had a Halland / Gundogan / Mayraz / Foden and co next to him......... He cant do it on his own....-

Agree with this. MLT carried us season after season, JWP hasn't. Yes, he tries hard and is a set piece specialist but he is limited and not forward thinking. Seven/Eight years ago, he came up and pre-match gave my son his training vest and you remember stuff like that but he's not a natural captain and if he leaves, I'll wish him good luck but won't feel that's a massive dent in our prospects.
Bit harsh, he single handedly won us the game at everton, got us 2 wins againts chelsea, earned us a draw at spurs, thats 10 of our 24 point tally currently.
That doesnt include his last ditch tackles and blocks that has saved us a good handfull of goals and kept us in games we other wise would have lost without those actions.-

Shit loads on energy if you lived in France - but that's only because we let them charge us an absolute fortune which supplements their own country
They will have to pay it back eventually, its only low atm as Macron capped it at 4 % rise c ( https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/EDF-sues-French-government-over-electricity-sales ) But EDF still want the money back and are trying.. But our own lack on energy generation is down to poor planning by successive goverments, going with cheap gas power stations, which are no longer cheap. I consider this self inflicted ( and because of the war ), rather than an effect of brexit.

So let me get this right Batman, myself and The Guardian are the only ones who talk about the cost of living crisis? Maybe if you spent less time trawling Twitter and watching GB News you might develop a grown up view of our economy and political situation and have something of value to add rather than you usual inane and pointless posts. You are now in your third life on this forum and your posts have been equally as pointless under all three user names. I guess all those years spent in a tin can under the waves have damaged your cognitive abilities. Anyway, thanks for the name check and for confirming yet again that you are completely clueless.
I have often wondered what you do for gainful employment now that you no longer feed our brave submariners. My guess is that you along with your fellow gang of followers are Government plants paid to troll internet forums and spend your days trying to discredit anyone who dares to criticise them and their policies. The thing is, you are making a poor fist of it and have probably blown any chance of promotion to Chief Exporter of Refugees to Rwanda, your dream job.
Any chance you can tell me how much i would be saving had we not left?

No and no. Your game and wilful neglect of accepting reality and real world consequences of political games show your ignorance. You play keyboard games and pretend your infantile opinion has weight when families grieve. Shame on you.
You will laugh at this reply and come back with nonsense that is adjacent to the issue and rejoice in yourself. You have no feeling or understanding of the conflict in Northern Ireland and will therefore comeback with a pithy sentence that you believe will give you a gotcha moment.
You and people like you are not part of the conversation because you have nothing to contribute or add. You are a troll. I hope you find love and leave real grieving people alone.
My Grandmother was in Omagh when the bomb went off and lost a lot of people that day. Today brought a lot of that home. I’m hurting and the fact that nonentities like you think you can snigger about the effects that decisions made in England that affect my homeland says a lot.
Better Englishmen will understand this.
Walk away you infant.
this shows your lack of understanding, becasue it was yes and yes, i dont give too shit about your grandmother, or your whataboutery, i asked you two simple questions and you failed to give the correct reply because your stuck is cry baby mode over a vote you lost years ago blaming brexit that UK shopping stores ran of out veg when it is a problem happening all around the EU.
You dont say shit all though because it doesnt fit your narrative.
If your so against England and english people. FUCK OFF. nothing stopping you.

Question. Does NI not reside inside the EUs borders and is what you would call a member of the EUs single market?
also, are they not upset that the border is between the UK / NI?

I think this speaks more of how we've not had a set partnership for large periods. In the early 2000's Svensson and Oakley were good, but the likes of Prutton and Delap didn't necessarily provide quality. For me the gold standard is Schneiderlin and Wanyama, and noone comes massively close. Steven Davis helped the Romeu and JWP partnership in the early days, and there were points were I preferred Hojbjerg and Romeu to JWP.
Didnt wanyama and scheiderlin not have Davis and half the time JWP too, cork, clasie and OR? they all had time between them in our 4231 formation under RK. its fair to say the current JWP is a better player now than any of them was. Was jwp / davis wanyama / cork / OR and Clasie and scheiderlin not our most used formation ( 4231 ) and team? over RKs time as manager? I actually thought our defense during RK time and our attacking areas was our strongest areas under RK, wanyama couldnt pass 5 yards half the time but was a good tackler and strong, but was slow. OR defo over wanyama and Morgan as DM and even though Davis was better than jwp when jwp was a young player, jwp is defo a better player at 29 than sd was for us at 29.....

All Newcastle players were marked, as soon as JWP lost his man then it all opened up. Why did JWP run towards the guy receiving the ball? Should of just stayed with his man and make sure he has a difficult time getting it back. Or just check him once he first passed it. Might have given a foul away but still a better result.
Lavia was on no 36, if he was coming across early to cover then 36 would have been free for a hit at goal.
And again..for the second time, Kotchap wasn't even on the pitch at this stage. Think we will agree to disagree on the whole thing but its no coincidence its happened twice in the last few games.
Aribo whos stood in the semi circle marking no body was free to cover Longstaff should the ball have come further in field, Amiron was being covered by Tella and Perraud, Salisu and Car was in the box marking newcastles only attacker in the box ( wood ), who ever misses the ( i cant tell who it is. think its Niles?.. ) tackle on Maximins assist, Lavias failure to read the danger why was the goal happened, not because Saint Maximin and Guimarães played a 1 2 around JWP..... Lavia was 2 - 3 yard short of Guimarães when he struck the ball, if he was 2 secs quicker on closing him down he is in front of him with Guimarães unable to take the shot on..... Its a team game we had 9 of 10 out field players back, they had 6 forward. dont tell me we was all busy marking, we wasnt. JWP closing down Guimarães on the free kick restart left a hole Lavia failed to fill / cover leaving space for the one two, if Lavia moved over even by 2 - 3 yards, the one two isnt even on.......
OR would have had Guimarães covered and would have seen the danger
