The only thing I understand from the commentary is 'Mamma mia' but that says it all.

Stephens is injured. On crutches
Any truth to this (from the Watford build up thread)?

In this case it doesn't help that he's very boring to listen to, not helped by his (improving) English. But I'm quite sure that had he won more games, he would suddenly become a lot more 'likeable' to many.

The problem Puel has is a large section of our fanbase just hasn't warmed to him.
Can't always expect logic and balance from football fans unfortunately and plenty of people haven't taken to him.
You win: we'll like you. You don't win: we don't like you. Football logic is very simple, actually. Balance, that's another story.

I liked the shirts.

Nobody throws a punch at a stranger unless justified (I think), are you sure you were not bugging him?
Nice bit of victim blaming. Are you the kind of bloke who says things like "She shouldn't have dressed like that if she didn't want to be harrassed"?

Number 12 (Watford) against number 13 (Saints).
On the opening day of the season we came back from 0-1 (9th minute goal by Capoue) when Redmond scored his debut goal for Saints in the 58th minute, for a 1-1 end result against 10 of them (Ben Watson was sent of for a challenge against Shane Long).
Results from the past 10 years:
16 Sep 2007 Watford v Southampton W 3-2 League Championship
07 Apr 2009 Watford v Southampton D 2-2 League Championship
25 Feb 2012 Watford v Southampton L 0-3 League Championship
23 Aug 2015 Watford v Southampton D 0-0 Premier League
If we play as well as we did in the EFL Cup final, we should have a good chance of winning this.

Won't happen. The big clubs know full well they get most of the decisions their way. It isn't in their interest.
A video technology decision decided the top game between PSV and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie today. I know it's not the PL, but it's a start, and I think it's headed in that direction everywhere, eventually.

I hope we can take this spirit and quality into the remainder of the season. It's all coming together nicely by the looks of it.

It's another case of reading one thing and making it another. This is what Koeman is quoted to have said:
“It is true you need help from which team will win the EFL Cup or the FA Cup,” said Koeman.“In that way we hope United will win at weekend and one of biggest clubs wins the FA Cup, because then it's possible seventh in the table can play a qualification for the Europa League.”
Koeman believes European qualification can impact on the standard of players it is possible to lure at the end of the season.
“Yes it is factor because players like to be part of Europe, and like to be part of the Champions League,” said Koeman.
“That is the best for football players. The first step is to be part of Europe even if it is being part of a difficult Europa League on Thursday or qualification really soon in the pre-season. We would like to do it and be part of it because Europe is the next step."
Key words here: "In that way we hope United will win..."
Nowhere Koeman is saying anything along the lines of "I hate Southampton, I'd prefer it if Man Utd win." The only thing he's saying is "I'd like to get my team into Europe." Big f*cking deal. Any manager would be blasted for saying anything other than that.

Nicely done! It's also good to see/hear the names of Martina, Clasie, Ward-Prowse and Redmond for key moments/goals, as a reminder for those who like to dismiss those players as worthless. Without them, no final.

How much would it really help to keep VVD's recovery a secret? I can't believe that's the reason for the lack of news.

Not unless you're Pass the Dutchie.
This loan signing smacks of Les trying to save face with his commitment to replace Fonte. Completely against the grain of the fabled Southampton Way. Seemingly no one else wanted to sign him but we're shelling out £100k per week till the end of the season, most of which will be spent getting him match fit.
Forgive me for being mildly excited about a new big name player joining the squad. I'm very curious to find out how he'll do, and I want to trust that we wouldn't sign someone if we think he doesn't have the potential to contribute.

I'm very pleased with this. Even if he never plays a minute, I'm happy with the intention shown by Saints here after the disappointing window.

It should be law that all cyclists have to wear a helmet and both them and motorcyclists where clothing that can be seen.
I wouldn't want to see most cyclists in clothes that can't be seen. It might be funny for a minute, but too distracting probably.

Our (Mané's) latter season form papered over some pretty considerable cracks in my opinion.
So you're basically saying "Because we improved and had a good second half of the season, it made the season look good."

Barcelona should be interested after tonight.
(I still believe he may be here another season.)

Watford vs. Southampton build up
in The Saints

And age.
Hojbjerg had some promising games earlier on. Let's hope his confidence grows once the results reflect the efforts more.
