  1. It's very interesting reading the Everton fan's views on here (assuming they ARE Everton fans) and their assumption that an owner with cash instantly leads to glory and world class players. Players of that quality of course want the big bucks, but they also want the Champions League bonuses. That's why the genuinely world class players go to the traditionally "big" clubs (although Leicester's buying strategy will be an interesting case study this season). It's as simple as that. So for Everton fans to come on here and say we could take this player or that player just because we can is utter ****e. £100m isn't going to buy you what you think this window, because all the teams out there, especially overseas, know how much cash is waiting to be spent - demand and supply.

The truth of the matter is that the big clubs will continue to recruit the big players. Those clubs who have invested in their scouting network will continue to make considered signings. And those clubs who are neither will throw stupid money at "names" with no conceivable long term strategy other than buy, buy, buy. I know which category we fall into and I know which category Everton now fall into. A team with a plan and considered investment, or a team going guts out for glory - which would you prefer?

RK hasn't covered himself in glory but in truth, who here wouldn't leave their current job if offered a massive pay rise elsewhere? I'm not saying he goes with my good wishes, but that's life. If he wasn't going to sign an extension then this is with out doubt the best thing that could happen to Saints - a nice pay off and on to the next department head

Stick to the plan. We March On.

  2. Sat in the Chapel, after the sending off I spotted Bertrand getting instructions from a member of the coaching staff (presumably), who was stood on the Kingsland-side touchline. The guy then legged it back up to the camera gantry at the top of the stand where it looked like he put some sort of earpiece back in. Never seen that before, although the same guy always legs it across the pitch and disappears down the tunnel at half time.

Anyway, he comes down again about 10 minutes later to say something to Bertrand, Clattenberg legs it over and tells him to f*** off. Clearly he was getting instructions from the bench for that side of the pitch.

Guess there must be some sort of law against coaching from outside of the dugout hence the ref's reaction. Interesting that we've thought to do that though.

What is a training ground? Is it a Rolls-Royce training ground? You can give me the best football boots but it ain’t going to make a big difference. What makes a difference is the coaching or the player. Of course you have to have basic facilities, but do we need a training ground like Spurs or Southampton ?
  4. 2 teams with a good start to the season. Both playing with confidence but maybe a 4-2 reverse has knocked Swansea a bit? Even so, I predict it's down to the managers. Monk has done well but I think RK with his experience will out think him in a 1-0 away win.

  5. Forget about being able to watch the game. When my lad was that age, and a bit older he was quickly bored and looking for distractions/ways out all the time. I think about 15 mins into the 1st half is the record for wanting to go home. He's 6 now and absolutely loves it, so you're just gonna have to ride it out as there is no easy answer.

  6. Haven't purchased anything yet but do know Steve and can confirm he is a top bloke. Genuine 100% Saints fan, saw him in the West Quay store on Saturday surveying the sea of shirts with his business, which he built from scratch, plastered all over them. He's struggling to wipe the smile off his face atm!

  7. I was in the Chapel and between full time and the players coming back out, Luke Shaw came over with Harrison Reed, had a chat with some people down the front and gave his shirt to someone. It seemed pre-conceived, as opposed to just chucking it into the crowd, but I couldn't work out what or why. Anyone get wind of what was said?

Good atmosphere today, I thought the Utd fans were in good spririt too, rather than being their usual arrogant selves.

All in all a very enjoyable season. As ever, we won't know anything about what's going on in the club until it's reported on the OS, so all speculation on here is exactly that. I get that people on here need to be a part of the rumours and hearsay. That's great and will no doubt help to fill the long slow summer days, but as someone above very sensibly suggested, I'm steering clear of this place until pre-season and/or we get some solid newsflow.

Have an enjoyable World Cup all and here's to next season :toppa:

    COYR!

  8. Cracking game tonight, really enjoyed it. The battle between Shaw and Sagna went on all game and was excellent too. Gallagher showed real potential, not fazed at all.

Who drops to the bench for Big Vic then? Nobody in my opinion. Would be very harsh if Cork has to sit out after 3 consecutive MoMs.

13 points between 10th and 8th and we're smack bang in the middle of it.
