Rut Posted 21 October, 2013 Share Posted 21 October, 2013 Sat Nov 2 2013. Stoke v Saints at 10am CT (clocks have changed so it's an hour later than usual). 4 of us will be in Chicago when this game is on. Anyone up for a few beers and watching the game somewhere? Will prob end up at the Fado (near downtown & a CTA station): https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=Fado+Irish+Pub+and+Restaurant&fb=1&gl=us&hq=fado&hnear=0x880e2c3cd0f4cbed:0xafe0a6ad09c0c000,Chicago,+IL&cid=0,0,1868537452192621664&ei=mDdlUpCQNKGx2QWf8IH4Ag&ved=0CLEBEPwSMA0 If anyone has a better recommendation then please say. Fulham v Man Utd is on at the same time so I don't expect we'll get sound. Anyone know of a Stoke bar in Chicago (I'm pretty sure there isn't a Saints one?) where it would be the main game? Rut Posted 13 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 13 November, 2013 (for anyone who does ever want to see a game in Chicago and searches...) Fado was good. Had Saints game on a screen. No sound cos they had the Man Utd game as the main one. Was very surreal seeing their keeper score after 10 secs with no commentary though - what the hell just happened? Does that count??? Had all the games on various screens with a note saying what games would be on what screen: Opens early and sells beer. Does the job. Rut Posted 14 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 14 November, 2013 Hate to disappoint but that clock is wrong. Didn't get there til about 9am. That is the early game on the screen (Newcastle v Chelsea). Ended up being quite an impressive day though. I say 'impressive' but was a bit lightweight really. Ended up in some place that didn't close til 5am (and with the clocks changing at 2am it was open an extra hour til 6am). Didn't make it to closing time... Poor show. Didn't even make it til when the clocks changed actually! Next time... Chicago is a great place. It has beaches on Lake Michigan so thinks it is California. It has tons of sailing boats on the lake as well so thinks it is Solent. Tons of pubs and a couple of it's CTA (tube) lines run 24 hours. Very handy. As a tourist it is well recommended. Anyone on here actually live there?
