  1. 'You couldn't make it up'. How many times has that phrase been used in this thread? Well, this whole, wonderfully unbelievable thread must surely have that as a subtitle. If you had told me over 5 years ago how this would have panned out I would have laughed at you but it is of course us who are laughing at the blue phew in the most incredible set of circumstances it would have been impossible to have imagined in 2009.

Thanks to all contributors who have provided constant entertainment.

  2. I dread to think - probably 20 or more - all stored away in case they become fashionable again. Along with many shirts, including the '76 home and away, hundreds of programmes, tickets, badges and a stud from Peter Osgood's boot.

I might add I haven't bought a scarf for at least 20 years - probably longer.

  3. Don't be silly, they'll close the Tesco's on a Saturday when the skates are playing. It's not as if it's a busy day or anything.

Of course, silly me. With 20,000 plus turning up every week I suppose they would have to close for safety reasons

  4. Absolutely love watching him - if someone had told me I'd be impressed by a magic show I wouldn't have believed it. I just love the way Dynamo is so unassuming and casual and then just wanders off after he's produced his magic. There is no 'showmanship' which is what makes him what he is. Brilliant.

  5. Nice to see so many memories of Steve Mills - my favourite player for a time. Such a promising talent and so sad that his career and then his life were cut short. Does anyone remember another young player who died - Austin Hayes? If I remember correctly he had lung cancer and never smoked in his life. Think he was only about 21.

On a happier note - I love this thread, I don't feel as though I have to be careful what I say!

  6. How could I forgive him for getting my hero Stevie Williams sent off (and Ossie too)? So many opposition players over the years have caused upset but Bailey was the one that sticks in the memory most.

However, the game was what it was and I wouldn't wish serious illness on anyone, so hope he recovers soon.

  7. We are just a stepping stone for him - whether he will move to a better job will be down to what he does here. In twenty years time he will be just another name in the long list of managers and we'll barely remember what he did. Whether the club's long term future benefits from him being here only time will tell. I'll be amazed if any of the current personnel who are at the club today, will still be here in 20 years. Going back 20 years, I assume Jason Dodd is the only survivor (feel free to correct me!)

The only ones that will remain will be us.

  8. Finally caught up after being pages behind for days. Loved the webchat - wondered if there were any genuine skates on there at all.

Something has been puzzling me and I don't think it's been answered/discussed. The court case next week is to decide a date to decide how much FP is worth to then decide if PDT can take over. In mid-February Birch also has to go to court to request an extension to the administration. He will need to assure the court that progress has been made and there is likely to be a take-over.

So, if the date to decide FP value is first and it is higher than PDT would like, then liquidation is likely. If the date to decide FP value is after the administration extension request what is the likely outcome then? Surely an adjournment to the case deciding the extension, as they will argue that they can't proceed until the value is known. But then don't they legally have to have permission to carry on with the admin after 12 months and therefore can't have an adjournment?

I'm sure one of you clever nutjobs can answer this but I suppose I'm hoping that the judge says we will have the FP case on the 1st March and judge No. 2 says you can't prove you've got a solvent buyer, therefore I do not grant an extension. Wishful thinking!!!!

  9. 'I was there' at loads of the above - great memories.

But was anyone else at the Dell on the day Saints got relegated in 1974? We were winning 3-0 AWAY at Everton at the time but I was watching the reserves and listening to updates over the tannoy. Absolutely gutted when it was announced we were down. Couldn't get to Goodison on a teenagers money so did the next best thing!

  10. Money has to be saved somewhere and while I understand that some families will find the rules unfair as they have budgeted to receive the benefit, a line has to be drawn somewhere. Other payments such as the winter fuel payment for the elderly are also unfair (in my opinion). Over 50% of pensioners in this country do not need it. Many of the remainder are in desperate need. I know means testing costs a lot but surely this would be fairer than paying people money they just don't need, while others clearly suffer.

  11. Only had my ears pierced - rarely even wear earrings these days (I'm female). Hate tattoos on anyone but on girls look absolutely horrible IMO.

Did you see that girl (Dani?) on Strictly tonight with tattoos on the back of her legs? Wonder if she'll regret that one day...

  12. Seem the investigative journalist of the year is a little rattled.

My, my, dirty war becomes dirtier. Now attempts to discredit me claiming I've been offered a Trust job. Grubby and malicious lies. #Pompey

Why would you get so upset by just being OFFFERED a Trust job?
