  1. In think its the network card on the PC, pluged the laptop into another port via a cable with no problems, conected straight away. I then took it the laptop upstairs and unpluged the desktop that still wasn't connected and used the same cable, it connected straight away so its not the cable or the router so it must be the network unit on the desktop. Its part of the motherboard so would i be right in disabling the unit in systems and then installing another one in a spare PCI slot. Also even when the desktop did connect the lights on the back never lit up.

  2. I am pluged into the the ethernet, was working fine last night even afte a few boot ups, it saw he conection and logged onto the net ok. This morning turned on the PC and have the same problem. 1st thing i have to do is turn the conection to local but it still does not reconise the router. Will get a new network card today

I thought going hard wired would be easy and is always on. The port is lit on the router when i plug in, will try the laptop tonight as i have a spare short lead at home

  3. I recently upgraded from 10 to 20 meg BB. Virgin sent me a new combined Netgear router. The wireless is fine but i decided that as we have a number of wireless laptops etc it would be better if the desktop was hardwired and its the furthest away. Problem i have is that it takes ages for the internet to work on the desktop. It sees the rouer straight away on boot up but says its unidentified and i cannot get the net. After a while it then says identifying and then reconises the netgear unit so that i can get on the net. Quite often i have to re boot the router when the desktop is on and then i get a connection but this is a pain as the wireless is working OK but this does not always cure the problem

Any ideas to the problem would be greatfully recieved as i don't want to phone VM just yet as their customer servises are hopeless.

  4. Saw the Hampsters at the Brook last night. Did Hendrix tracks and sounded great. If you get a chance to see them don't miss them. The Hendrix tracks sounded as fresh today as the day the were written

  5. Wife and i have decided instead buying each other presents for Christmas we are going to get a TV in the sales over Christsmas. Looking at LCD from 32 up to 40 inch max. Not bothered if it comes with HD Freeview as i will upgrade my Sky +. Budget around £400. Any suggestions would be a great help

  6. Its all about brown paper bags, you either swim with the sharks which we as jolly hockey sticks England just do not do or you go for broke and be as bent as possible. Look at British Areospace being interviewed and fined over coruption regarding export contracts, could you imagine Russia or other countrys doing this i think not

  7. Am i right in thinking that my Pentium D will be slower that a Dual core. The PC says i have a Pentium D 2.66 GHz running Vista. I have 2 gig of ram, a good graphics and sound card. I keep the running programs down to a minimum. I have been play the latest Call of Duty game but it runs very slow at times even on the low settings and was wondering if a change of CPU would make a big difference.

  8. I have an Asrock motherboard and the spec says it can take a Pentium dual core CPU. I currently have a Pentium D 2.66 on the Mobo. I would like to change the Mobo for a quad core unit or higher but funds won't allow it so would i see a significant improvement if i change the CPU from a Pentium D to a Dual core say around the 3.2 range. You can get new chips of Ebay for around £50

  9. BA have been total cocks for our holiday next year. Took our money (20 of us) and then decided 1 month later cancelled the flight and the route. Getting re booked for 20 people on another airline is very difficult. Beware that BA are currently looking at all routes and will pull out without any concideration of there clients even if you have booked tickets as they don't give a dam

  10. Many imigrants have come to this country, i remember people had issues with the Ugandans, the Vietmanese Boat People and so on. But what makes all these groups different from the Muslis is that are all greatfull for living here and don't go round slagging the infidel off. I am now totaly sick and tired of the Muslim Population in this country and if they don't sort themselves out history tell us that one faith will always pick on another in hard times. Could the Muslims in the West become the New Jews if further hard line politics comes into play as is already creeping into Europe.
