Jeez, he's up there with the worst signings we've ever made pound for pound, I'd be happy getting his wages off the books.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 the shite we've signed just over the last 5 years that's one hell of a claim. :)

  3. Many years ago on a night out in London I saw Darren Anderton. I'd had  a fair few beers and I shouted, Darren, Darren. He looked at me and I started shouting Skate Skate. He looked upset and my mates dragged me away. I don't drink anymore.

Jamie Redknapp at the airport. I've gotta tell you, he's fucking handsome.

  4. Think I've got this. I know R Carlos is the sexy choice at left back but as an all round left back I actually think Ashley Cole might be the best left back I've seen. No one kept Ronaldo at the height of his powers in his pocket like Cole did and also a shout out to Andreas  Brehme.

                        Schmeichel

    Cafu     Maldini Chiellini    Cole

                  Keane     Xavi

    Messi           Maradona       Zidane

                          RONALDO ( Brazil)

    Bro no Ronaldinho anywhere !!!!!!!

Not read replies so apologies if someone else has mentioned it.

If you don't love him you don't love football, prime Ronaldinho at Barca was sick.

Also I'm not having ramos, overrated defender but he got goals.

Give me any of the juve defenders like bonnuci, chilleni etc

Ahh but this is the thing isn't it. At this time Zidane and Ronnie were at the height of their powers. You remember the YouTube vid Zidane vs Ronaldinho?  It was a beautiful watch, but at that time Zidane just does it more for me. Ronnie was a great entertainer and had some outrageous moments but Zidane for me was pure grace and elegance on a pitch and also that ridiculously strong French team that won everything always seemed to struggle when he wasn't playing. Anyway, horses for courses but that's why zizou gets the nod over Ronnie for me.

It comes down to whether anyone makes a sensible offer. "Ditching" isn't an option.

I expect someone will make a reasonable enough bid for Jan and we'll keep Stephens for "character" and versatility.

I don't profess to be an expert on contracts and how they work unlike some of the chaps on here but if a manager at the beginning of the season took them both to the side and told there's no future for them at saints, I'm pretty sure they'd both want to play football at this stage of their careers rather than being part of the reserves. I suppose you can never really tell but I think that sort of approach might make them feel like leaving.

Good going seeing as he’s only been there since Jan.

THB/Bednarek/Edwards/Wood/Stephens for next season looks pretty strong, even if one of the first two head off.

I'm of the opinion that janny and Stephens need to fuck off for good and we start from scratch. I know some will say the experience of janny etc etc, but to me he's just getting in the way now. We need to ditch both of them. Just my humble opinion of course.

I'm weirdly optimistic about this game.

There might be a pitch invasion if we avoid beating Derby's record at home.

I'd be all up for seeing a pitch invasion just to make a real mockery of how shit we are.

I hope this post is tongue in cheek otherwise it makes you a fair weather supporter. Instead of gracing St. Mary's with your presence next season just pop along the coast to Brighton or Bournemouth if you want to see a few matches won.

Lighten up dude. I'm a fairweather and bloody proud of it. Much better things to spend my money on than watching that shite every week. I'm too old to care that much anymore. We all have different perspectives of life and believe me this football club ain't top of the tree for me anymore. Just worry about yourself mate. That's all that matters. Keep well.

  10. I look at how Luton did last year. No way they have better players than us but they managed to put up a fight so 75% manager and 25% players for me but my caveat being that overall I blame the club. Several atrocious managerial appointments in succession. An abysmal failure. An embarrassment to themselves and the club.

I actually dont know any spurs fans but they do seem to whine a lot about a lot of shit.

I know a fuck tonne of them and they're by far the most irritating fans I know. I remember a conversation I was having with a Chelsea supporting friend of mine a few years ago when Poch was in charge at spurs and he was talking about his hatred of spurs. He boiled it down this way. I don't mind the area really, I quite like their manager, don't really know about their chairman and none of the players particularly bother me, it's just that 90% of the spurs fans I know, when it comes to talking about football, are just total knobheads.

Bournemouth is the perfect case study.

Evanilson was their big price signing in a position that demands it - £35m. They also spent £25m on Tyler Adams and £22m on Sinisterra from Leeds. But in that £20m and below range they have made some very astute signings in the last few windows -

    Zabarnyi - £20m

    Outtara - £20m

    Kerkez - £16m

    Huijsen - £14m

    Kluivert - £10m

    Tavernier £10m

    Semenyo £9m

But like every club, it hasnt been without some players who have failed to deliver on their price tag

    Traore - £25m

    Faivre - £14m

There are others like Unal, Senesi, Scott who were costly but have delivered to some degree. But this has easily been offset by the £60m they got for Solanke.

They're riding that wave that we had in the Koeman years and early Hasenhuttl years where the recruitment was excellent - but crucially the management of the team was excellent also.

I think you've hit the nail on the head right at the end of your post. I think we've had some decent players here but they have woefully mismanaged by managers that just haven't been up to the job. Management makes all the difference. We've all seen it so many times.

Anybody else seen this ? 18m for Danso.

Wolves are in the market for a central defender and have set their sights on Kevin Danso of Lens. The Ligue 1 side rejected an offer of £18.5m for the Austria defender on Monday and while Wolves are prepared to increase their bid, any move could be stymied by the small problem that Danso wants to stay put for the time being after picking up an injury. “Danso doesn’t want to leave,” said the Lens manager, Will Still. “He is not sabotaging us. He hurt himself in training. He took the ball on his ankle, which twisted and it pulled on his knee.”
