  1. National Tramway Museum in Crich Derbyshire has a one of those old Southampton Corporation Trams running, complete with the warning about not standing through the Bargate.

I think on bank holiday weekends they run a lot more Trams up and down the track for visitors. Certainly a good day out if you have a curiosity of days gone by.

Crich is a good day out for tram buffs although it is short of cash so runs things accordingly on public holidays etc as you say JBS. I have a friend who was the general manager there until a couple of years ago. He tried to turn it around but it was too much hard work given its relatively inaccessible location for most things let alone trams.

  2. My point was that winter tyres are mandatory in those countries - ie all cars are equipped between November and April and not caught out by sudden snow falls or by driving frrom a dry area to a snowy area. France and Italy only stipulate carrying snow chains in certain areas when the weather is bad. They are such a pain to get on and off many people dont bother to use them until its too late and they are stuck / slid off the road.

Yeah, I think that is right about France. The Gendarmes were insisting on winter tyres on 4x4s on Saturday though, I didn't mention that before. Otherwise any other car in the foothill towns was being forced to put the chains on or go no further. I got caught up in a road block in a town called Tangines where it was being enforced for those going up the mountains. It was clearly the right thing to do as I was held up coming down by cars (and hire vans) that had got through beforehand that couldn't make it upwards on the fairly gentle parts even.

  3. I wonder what will happen next year with finances as they sure as shyt wont win promotion this year

crowds will of course drop and 1 or 2 players will want to play in a higher league

More rotation of rubbish players and more of the same I'd guess!

  4. Alps due a big dump this weekend (I'm talking about the mountains and the snow). Desperately needed in some places, temperatures due to drop down into the minus teens too.

Massive dump started last night. I am in Samoens and a good load on the ground now and still snowing hard.

  5. Here's a couple of questions for my scientist friends about water... Do H2O molecules ever split up or swap component atoms naturally in the company of one another and in different physical states of ice, water and steam? Or is each molecule locked together as atoms in a permanent threesome for perpetuity?

  6. Reading the Pompey comments on the News, it seems that they have decided tht Ben Chorley is their new scapegoat a la Johnny Ertl last season. They are mightily hacked off that the next John Terry, "young Jack", has been left out today. Of course we know that "young Jack" was scalped last season in their youth team by Saints youth team in the 7-0 drubbing.

Chorley is the weak link. Said all season. The man cannot track and shows very little intelligent play. Mr AA you need to change who you pick not the coaches!!!

  7. I also don't see why she will turn down a pay rise.... Probably in response to her cock story

I think our MPs do not get paid nearly enough for what they are expected to do

IMO MPs should get about £100K and then they wouldn't have to fiddle the office expenses. A doctor gets about £100K and I think that is comparable - given there are thousands of doctors and only 650 MPs.

  8. You are not though as you have been here for many years and know full well I am not a chef.

You were trying (and still are) to take the mick

I find that pretty poor as some of my mates are chefs and work very hard in a job I could never do.

    Just really odd

As for cooking at home. I am not too bad really

It's a genuine thread title and I am sure your RN guys are brilliant at chefing.

I am interested in knowing how good people are at cooking and whether they like it and would like to improve their skills.

And also any top tips or recipes too.

  9. Why are you mentioning me?

Again, still not sure why you and others seem to think that being a chef in the RN is some sort of way of taking the mick?

They are the most powerful people on board (after the skipper)

Wish I did have that power as it is certainly a job I could not do

An army or navy fights on its stomach! I'm offering you a compliment! I'm sure you know how to cook far better than most people!!

  10. Obviously we know Batman can cook.

I am reasonable at a few good dishes with basic ingredients to start with and refer to the internet for inspiration occasionally. I am rubbish at desserts as I have no interest in them...

Still go down the chippy when feeling lazy though.
