We're at our best when we are aggressive and on the front-foot. It was the foundation of Hasenhüttl's side previously and Sellés brought that back this weekend. This piece takes a look at how Sellés lined up the side and the tactical approach used in the win over Chelsea. https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2023/02/20/selles-brings-southampton-back/

I had written this article taking a look at how Marsch would set us up tactically and his principles etc before talks collapsed. I know it's pretty much by the by now but thought I would share it anyway in case anyone is interested. https://post-and-in.com/2023/02/17/how-jesse-marschs-southampton-would-have-looked/

If you want to learn more about what Onuachu and Sulemana are like as players I've written the below analysing them. Personally, I think both are good signings but unfortunately it's the wrong manager in charge to get the best out of them! Please do let me know what you think if you have any feedback. https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2023/02/06/new-saints-onuachu-and-sulemana/

Wrote the below article about how Ward-Prowse's new role is getting the best out of him and allowing him to be a key attacking influence. Check it out if you fancy it.analyticsunited.co.uk/2023/01/16/james-ward-prowses-new-role/

Concerns continue despite cup wins article
Fraser Spinney replied to Fraser Spinney's topic in The Saints
Fair points made regarding the Lincoln error. Pretty big mistake on my part there so apologies -
Wrote the below about how there are still massive concerns from the Forest game despite the cup victories, particularly in terms of the tactics used. Let's hope we see a performance like Wednesday against Everton tomorrow. Let me know what you think! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2023/01/13/concerns-continue-despite-cup-wins/

Thank you. Probably just as ineffective as the rest of the squad I'd guess!

Thank you, really appreciate it!

I've hopefully covered everything you need to know about our new signing Mislav Oršić in the below article. Career, style of play, where he fits in and more. Think it's a really good signing for a very good price personally. Let me know what you think! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2023/01/06/who-is-mislav-orsic/

There has been some talk about a potential recall of Nathan Tella from Burnley this January lately. He wouldn't solve the issues on his own but could help. The issue is if he isn't utilised then it could hamper his development as he is flying at Burnley. I wrote the below about whether we should recall him and what he would could offer. What do you think? https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/12/28/should-southampton-recall-nathan-tella/

Thank you! Yes, sorry, definitely a typo!

Hi, I've written the below article about what to expect from Saints under Nathan Jones in terms of tactics, formations and which players are likely to be key to his style of play. Take a look and let me know what you think. Hopefully he hits the ground running as there's a lot of must win games in the next 7 in the league! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/12/19/what-to-expect-from-nathan-jones-southampton/

Hi, This isn't strictly Saints related so I hope it's ok to post. A friend and I have recently started a new podcast called 'There's Only One Football Podcast' (the irony being that there's actually loads) and I thought it may be of interest to members here. It is not a SFC podcast but as a Saints fan we often discuss the club or it comes up in conversation. Appreciate it won't be to everyone's taste but check it out if you fancy! https://open.spotify.com/episode/5gxsbKNKCiNRkGDi1QR4a0?si=XUujmIj6S3qBm6no3XQpFA

Hi, I've written the below article which looked back at Ralph's time in charge and also some of the reasons that he had to go when he did. I think once the dust settles most fans will be able to look back at periods of his time in charge with fondness but have a read and let me know what you think! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/11/14/reflecting-on-hasenhuttls-tenure/

Hi, I wrote the following article about how Duje Ćaleta-Car has played since Bella-Kotchap's injury, what he brings to the side, and his partnership with Salisu. Please give it a read if you fancy and let me know what you think. If you like this sort of thing then please feel free to follow me on Twitter where I post more of this sort of stuff @FraserSpinney21. Cheers! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/10/28/southamptons-croatian-colossus/

Hi, I wrote the following article about the defeat to Everton and how we lost the game by losing the midfield battle. Hope you don't mind me posting these here and enjoy! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/10/07/hasenhuttl-on-the-brink/

Hi, The Aston Villa result and performance left a bitter taste in the mouth for me and I'm sure it did for many of you too. I reviewed the performance in this post but also analysed our problem creating chances recently. Please check it out and let me know your thoughts! https://analyticsunited.co.uk/2022/09/27/southamptons-struggle-for-creativity/

Yes I agree, I really like the dynamic of ABK and Salisu. Best thing is they will only get better too -
