  1. To flesh this out for anyone who can't be bothered to read the full piece / is getting confused... - Saints paid £4m for him in 2021 - There is a clause in the deal that Chelsea take a cut of the profit on any future sale to a third club - However, the bigger the profit, the more the Chelsea % of the deal increases on a sliding scale - Effectively, this was so that if he became a star, both teams would make £20-£30m each - If he was decent but not quite a star, then Saints would recoup a higher % of the money - Example 1: Saints agree to sell Tino for £30m, then we keep £18m and Chelsea get £12m - Example 2: Saints agree to sell Tino for £50m, then we keep £28m and Chelsea get £22m - Newcastle's last offer prior to going public via The Telegraph was £23m (£15m to us, £8m to Chelsea) - That's how the £15m figure got into the public domain - Saints would like to make £20m-£30m from any sale, but Newcastle don't want to pay more than £30m in total * Bonus: Chelsea's buy-back clause becomes active this summer, therefore if Chelsea want to buy him back then that bar is set at £50m (of which £12m profit would go to Chelsea anyway, meaning they would only need to pay £38m to Saints)

    Lyanco

My jaw is on the floor that anybody would think Lyanco is worth £10m
  5. Oh I don't disagree at all. Diabolical choice and an awful, awful fit - but I understand the shift in approach that means they wouldn't have gone for Martin mid-season in the PL but they would before pre-season of a Championship campaign.
  6. The coastguard has confirmed at a press conference that they discovered the tail cone 1,600ft from the base of the Titanic. This then led them to a debris field which had a broken end of the pressure chamber, which then led them to a smaller debris field that contained other parts of the pressure chamber. The pattern/nature of the debris is consistent with having an explosion mid-journey caused by an implosion of the internal pressure chamber on the descent. They're continuing to search for debris/remains.
  7. Blimey, didn't know you had MLT on Facebook
  8. To be fair to the board, they have explained this already. Multiple times. They felt that, looking at the issues of the squad mid-season, we needed to toughen up, get a coach with a track record of making his teams compact and defensively sound and quickly improve our set-piece ability in a league where we were scrapping against the odds and had players for a reactive style of play (after years of counter-pressing with Ralph). Jones had done those things, albeit at a lower level. We are now in a lower division where we have one of the largest set of resources (alongside Leeds, Leicester etc) and therefore we are not scrapping against clubs much bigger and more well-resourced than us, so we want to dominate games and be more proactive - which is what they like about Martin's approach. Being in the off-season also gives them a chance to reset and adjust the squad and culture in a way that you cannot mid-season.
  9. Haha, Fulham's training ground is in Surrey and south of Kingston-upon-Thames. Brentford's is in Hounslow, if I remember rightly.
  10. Pretty sure Brentford have quite a robust wage structure, where they don't pay over £50k-£60k as standard. Fulham have always been pretty free spending with salaries, plus he probably prefers Silva's style to Frank's - plus could probably get away without moving homes.
  11. Exclusive from Independent - Fulham in for JWP: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/southampton-james-ward-declan-rice-fulham-manchester-city-b2362372.html - JWP prefers to sign for Fulham than West Ham - He sees them and Marco Silva as a better fit for him - He's already knocked back Brentford, who made an enquiry
  12. Gillingham v Saints

    Ruben Selles

  14. Well, they're giving it a much-needed clean up
  15. I can see them signing both. Pretty sure they've got quite a hefty budget this summer and if they're letting two or three of Xhaka/Lokonga/Elneny/Partey go then they'll need two new faces.

Incredible work from the Valenciennes fans
  17. It's not even worse than the white shirt we've been playing in this past season, which I'd rank as my least favourite in a long while. I really disliked the 2019 kit with the big black block at the top too. Dishonourable mentions for the reverse sash in 2020 and the red and gold effort under Cortese.
