It doesn't matter which party they are from, any career politician really shouldn't be in a position of power.

Just listening to a bit of this. This guy is head of the 'Labour' party, right?

No, it was in fact Crossley who scored that goal. The memories of seeing that go in from the away end at Hillsborough will stay with me forever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dut-uGCO-8

What's more important ? The furture of SFC or its past ?
Colinjb replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
The past gives you identity and foundation. The present sustains that past and is your reason to remain in existance. The future allows you to build on and aim to surpass what you are. The past should be respected but must not be your main focus. We must be building always to be as strong as we can possibly be right now with the view to a strong future, as such there is no absolute right or wrong in this argument.... but there is the risk of one side of the balance becoming too overbearing. My personal view has always been that we must be building to the future and be making all efforts to ensure that we are as strong as possible right now in order to allow it. This argument between Cortese and Le Tissier/McMenemy/Benali etc is a threat to our stability as it seems to be a war between the past wanting recognition/concession and the present needing to be resolute to avoid any potential ongoing abuse from parties which may not be as 'benign' in their motives as Le Tissier (for example). It needs to be sorted out, neither side must be 'removed' as they are all part of 'us.' Personally, I will always be more inclined to favour the building work towards the future at the expense of the glorification of the past. The prospect of us being back in the premiership or future cup runs, these possibilities fascinate me... and knowing we can be as strong as possible for these future campaigns excites me more then the nontheless still wonderful memories and glories we have from the past. It is only a sense of cautiousness from seeing how similar clubs have been consumed by these dreams (the Skates are the most ready example) that leads me to want the club to remain a little bound and grounded by past association. All sides to the argument have merit though, just personality and instinct provide the differential in the fanbase, it's a bloody nightmare. -
Jesus, that would have been perfect! So close to the railway station.

And i've just learnt the hard way the draw back of using a rich fuel mixture all race. 11th to 19th in 4 painful corners at Shanghai!

Got my copy today (Xbox 360), had about an hour with it starting a career mode in a HRT, Hard difficulty with traction control and auto gearshifting on. First thoughts: 1) The game is beautiful, no frame-rate issues so far and the rain effects are amazing. 2) The handling is so much more forgiving now, no more seemingly 'random' spins, you can correct and rescue depending on the severity of your error. It really helps the games enjoyability.... it no longer feels like a lottery. 3) I fear the difficulty level may be a slight bit inconsistent. Around Australia in a the HRT I struggled to qualify off the back row in the wet and struggled into last place. In wet conditions in Malaysia, also in wet conditions I qualified 16th and finished 8th. It may have been just me 'getting used' to the game, but it felt quite a noticable jump in 'ease.' 4) The interviews are still needless. 5) The career mode appears to still use the flawed reputation system. I am hoping that as I go on it'll become clear that you do not get the same reputation for scoring a point in a HRT as in a Red Bull. 6) The creepy agent has gone, get in! So far, really enjoying the game... Can't wait to waste several more hour on it.

You idiot. When you get knocked unconscious it's not uncommon for your newly relaxed tongue to block the airways if you are laying on your back. This is swallowing your tongue, as the instinct to try and breathe keeps it there, it's a very common source of complications in sporting injuries, one of the first things a first aider will do is check that the airways are clear for exactly this reason.

Better said then I could manage, superb post.

A mixture of F1 2011, FM 2012 and Forza Motorsport 4 will keep me out of natural sunlight.

Rupert was a fool, but when he said 'Lunatic Fringe' jesus, he wasn't kidding. Either that, or well worked young troll-ling.

Have you been on a course of antibiotics recently? Specifically anything penicillin based?

One off game in 18 months.......

Even in the two games we havn't won, we have made enough chances to win. That in itself is a good sign.

More reflective of the number of people on our database then the club. At least with the 'no freebies or concessions' rule it prevents abuse of the club. Even given that though Matt did get a concession to be permitted 3 tickets for the game. There will be no winners as long as this pathetic squable continues though.... it's a damned shame.

Stick them all in a Zorb ball and push them off the top of Snowdon together. That should give them sufficient time to hammer something out.

No. But I have been reading a lot more Saintsweb then usual.... even for me.

If you do not control your emotion, your emotion will control you.

He is the greatest player we've had in recent times. And in my personal experience a very humble man....... but that's the key word, man, as failable as any of us. No-one involved in this obsurd charade will be blameless and that it has elevated to this level should reflect shame on all of them.

Football brings out the worst emotions in many people. This level of uproar is a good example of this.

Well, considering that my fiancee and I have estimated a cost for the day (excluding dresses and flowers) or approx 700 pounds...... jesus..... We have selected a beautiful village hall in herefordshire at £75 rental for the whole wedding weekend and a church at £375. He uncle is doing the entertainment and PA (he is in a band and has all the decks and amplifier equipment we need) and have arranged a local pub to send bar service for free on the reasonable condition that they collect all takings.

Do the club still employ a PR company to post on messageboards?

It's come to this, really...... -
This is a f**king horrible situation. Perpetuated by the emotions and fondness of our greatest player in recent times and pitting it head to head with a chairman who has seen the club become at the very least relatively succesful but has done somethings which have annoyed certain parts of the fanbase, yet because he is pragmatic and seemingly vain he is not considered very likable. The timing of this is awful, not that there could ever be a good time. It will only polarise the fans at a time when we NEED to be pulling together. Without Cortese we wouldn't have had Markus Leibherr (and men like him do NOT arrive everyday, just ask the Skates, Derby County, Sheffiled Wednesday etc), without Le Tissier and the ilk we wouldn't have the memories, thoughts, pride and identity that define us as all as 'Saints.' There is too much vanity from ALL concerned and not enough humility. Peace is the only resolution where we emerge stronger.

At no point in the article did Cortese directly criticise Le Tissier. There was a statement that Le Tissier has criticised him..... Which is undeniable and another statement saying that there was a need to put an end to freebies. He says 'all these people,' not Matt Le Tissier, not Benali, Not McMenemy..... no specifics. There is a heap of reaction over nothing. It's such a shame. Incidentally, a reasonably relevant blog I wrote a few months ago: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/entry.php?52-Chicken-vs-Egg

From the sun article: "Cortese says he is not "confrontational" but he has also clashed with former Saints manager McMenemy and legend Le Tissier. He said: "Yes, Lawrie McMenemy and Matt Le Tissier have criticised me but they should know no one is more important than the club. "I simply couldn't accept all these people trying to get freebies here, freebies there." So, an acceptance that there has been a clash with Le Tissier in the past and a mention of needing to stop demands for freebies... There is not an explicit link between Le Tissier and a demand for freebies just an statement that free tickets are a thing of the past in any shape or form. The need for a policy of that sort, as harsh as it may be in some quarters, is sensible... it will get rid of anyone trying to take the club for a free ride. The reactions on twitter and of Jeff Stelling are very dissappointing, all emotion and no thought.
