Based on the post from the Rangers fan (thank you) it seems Joe Aribo can also play at LB. This provides some cover if Perraud is injured and Small is not deemed ready.

It also could free up JWP in mid field to cover RB if KWP is injured. This gives us options until Tino is back up and running.

This flexibility takes pressure of full back cover and allows us to focus on improving the attack. Hopefully we'll get to see KWP and Tino both play on the right when fit. Also think Perraud did a good job for his first season so would like to keep them all happy and playing.

The other thing the Rangers fan mentioned was the quality of Aribo's first touch and close control. Brings back memories of Fabrice Fernandes (yes, I remember the crop circles)

He's literally played 36 mins off the bench at left back - he isn't in any way a defender and I'd be amazed if he would ever be considered to play fullback in the Premier League.

  2. A good player but not entirely sure how he will fit in. Definitely better as a #10, goes through periods of ups and downs out wide and, contrary to a couple of mentions, I don’t recall him ever playing a defensive centre midfield role. Big and strong, good on the ball but zero pace. Strength is getting on the ball and creating rather than providing much supply from the wing. Also did a turn up front in the latter part of the season when there were no strikers available, used his physique well up there. The Rangers fan above mentioned about the goal he scored whilst covering left back - this was in a European tie where he came off the bench at left back due to an injury crisis, he never played there again.

Main concern would be that he has played an awful lot of football over the last couple of seasons and his performance - understandably - dropped off quite badly for a couple of months after Christmas this year as he was almost certainly knackered. Seemed to largely stay clear of injuries despite this though which is good - hopefully that continues and he comes in refreshed for this season.

I expect his success will be dependent on how we look to utilise him for the price you can’t complain too much.

  3. Do they still have hopes for Lewis? On loan in a poor league, but looked miles from first team ready when he came in last season. McCarthy isn't the quality to challenge Fraser but reasonable back up.

    .

A loan spell in Scotland never did any harm for the likes of Forster and Tim Krul?

  4. At Greenock Morton (Scottish Championship) it is £17 across all sections of the ground. I think that's pretty expensive for the standard of football but we seem to be the lowest in the division.

Football has become a very expensive sport.

  5. I don't remember it being when he first joined so much as that run up to Christmas when we were losing games and TBH Mané was awful; in that period he really did look like a more expensive Ali Dia. Against Burnley and Sheff Utd I think he was especially bad, getting dragged off having made no impact at all.

    Fixed that for you.

  6. He wasn't. He started well and then had a couple of iffy games and loads went bat**** mental about it.

If I recall, he had a couple of decent games to begin with and was then less than useless til he decided he was Ronaldo after Christmas (or whenever it was).

  7. Mane lower than Targett and Kelvin Davis?

Going purely by Football Manager style ratings then yes, absolutely.

He was absolutely brutal until after Christmas (or there abouts) though has been excellent since. Therefore, I'd have his average rating around a 6.5 - with a 9 for his second half.

  8. Goalkeepers-

    Forster- 8

    Davis- 7

    Gazzaniga- 5

    Defenders

    Clyne- 8

Fonte- 9 (really stepped it up this year - was key to our success)

    Toby- 8

    Yoshida- 7

    Gardos- 6

    Bertrand- 8

    Targett- 7

    Midfielders-

    Davis- 7

    Wanyama- 8

    Reed- 6

JWP- 6 (really disappointed with JWP, expected much more this season)

    Morgan- 8

Tadic- 7 (excellent in parts, anonymous in others)

    Djuricic- 5

    Attackers-

Pelle- 8 (carried the team for much of the season)

Mane- 6.5 (4 first half, 9 second half)

    Long- 6 (no goals)

    Ellia- 5
