Fair enough, I maybe wrongly assumed people would have a bit more self respect than to be happy to take a job Because they met a companies quota rather than them both being the best fit for each other needs and ambitions

It's very easy to talk about self respect when you don't know people's life situations and need for money.  Personally I get a self of self respect doing a job I know I'm good at and feel like I'm contributing to society.  Also I did say all other things being equal but feel free to ignore that.

Would you be annoyed at the job if you only got it above other candidates because of your skin colour to tick a box in a code.

there an awful lot of talented none white hetrosexual people out there. The fact that people think it’s nessasary to help them By making a percentage of employees tick a diversity box because they’re not capable of getting jobs themselves is embarrassing and patronising to the thousands of talented black, gay, Asian etc people out there.

As a male infant teacher, which is a rarity,  I'm pretty sure I've got a job more than once because of my sex.  Do I feel guilty?  Do be honest the paycheck and job security go a long way to making me feel not so bad.  I'd imagine most others would feel the same  if, all others things being equaql, they got a job because they ticked a box.

  3. If you're just doing what every other couple does then it's not really coming out is it, otherwise you could say that heterosexual couples are coming out simply by going on a date.

So how can a gay person be normal if they can't show they're gay in the same way a heterosexual shows they're heteroseuxal? In my opinion this is exactly what coming out should be.

  4. It’s not a question of being sophisticated. It’s a very simple question that you seem to be getting very angry about. How is a gay person “coming out” normalising homosexuality?

There are plenty of ways to 'come out'. There's the Phillip Schofield way, which seemed all about sensation and probably not normalising being gay. However you can come out as gay simply going somewhere public with your partner, public displays of affection, casually mentioning your partner in an interview etc. No statement, no big deal, just doing something 'normal' that heterosexual people do. If the press or general public want to make a big deal out of that's on them.

  5. After years of being derided for their youth policy, Chelsea's seems to have clear strategy now. Buy up all the best youth, train them up and then sell them for a tidy profit. I'm sure others would argue that it's a failure because they're not getting into Chelsea's first team but they are getting in many other teams and Chelsea are making big money.

  6. Perhaps I was too young for that. Cockerill was playing when I started going to the Dell but was near the end of his career. I played football against his son in fact!

The Dell felt like a family and while I'll never forget the anti-Branfoot chants, in general I don't recall the fans getting on the back of the team in the same way. If anything, the 'spirit' we had came from the supporters getting behind the team in times of adversity. Perhaps because such a high percentage of the attendance were there every week. While the move to St Mary's was necessary, it also felt like the sense of entitlement had gone up, and more fans were quick to turn on the team when we were struggling.

Maybe it's more to do with football at large and life in general now though rather than Saints specifically.

Before Cockerill didn't George Lawrence get loads of abuse. I remember Dowie got loads of stick too. I'm sure booing disliked players of your own has been around for years
  7. IF we had just built another 15k onto our stadium, I think the possibility of signing him would be worth being considered. However at this point we should to focus on buying players who will get us into the position of needing a stadium expansion. I don't tihkn one season form Zlatan would do that. He's not signing for us. (Although this may be at least partly said in the naive hope that because i said it wont happen, it will).

  8. Isn't it time to move on? I love the stories I love watching the goal and Whilst it's the greatest thing to happen to our club it's also quite tin pot to celebrate what is effectly a reminder to everyone how unsuccessful we've been for a club of our size. 40 years isn't even a particularly big landmark, 25 years I get, 50 too but 40? Just strikes me as very small time and the constant it's x number of years since we one the fa cup quite tedious. Time to move on and change the mindset.

A few of the team have already passed away and if you wait till 50 years there will unfortunately probably be very few of them left in a fit state to talk about those times. This may be the last ever getrtogether of all those faces.

  9. My favourite moment is when I tried to take a bottle of 50/50 JD and coke I'd mixed up to drink in case couldn't get served at the pub beforehand into the ground. It was easy to get served at the pub so i brought the bottle to Wembley expecting to have to chuck it away. The helpful steward instead tipped it into a pint glass and i was able to get very merry. :)

  10. Meh, the same old people had the same old arguments for years. The only way they could try to add anything new to what they said was being objectionable. Now they've gone, it's a better place.

  11.

An article from the Mailonline from an interview with the Polish Press where there is no quote that he admits throwing the bottle at fans.

Just 'I won’t say I regret it, because I heard insults from the stands. Racist ones.'

    and

'I blamed myself for it because I gave Adkins the reason that he could sit me on the bench.'

Which could just as easily be applied to him throwing the bottle at the ad sign or possibly making gestures at the fans which i think he was accused of too.

Sorry, that's proof of nothing. Only something with actual quotes form Saints or Boruc himself where he admits throwing the bottle at fans.

  12. Not that it makes much of a difference but I thought Bon Jovi played there twice so there have been three in total. I don't think there have been that many more at the rose bowl. Certainly till last year there was a long period of time where neither venue hosted a band. Maybe the music climate has changed since the mid 00's when both were putting on gigs and there just aren't enough acts touring who are big enough to play multiple stadium shows.
