  1. I can understand people thinking the club was going to be sold. I rarely, if ever, believe anything said in interviews as history has shown everyone has a price and it always should be taken with a pinch of salt. A lot dpends on how media savvy a player/manager/owner is rather than what they actually want to say. I much prefer to look at actions, and ours, at the time, was one the biggest selling sprees ever and little said by those in charge reassured me. Over time players were replaced and all was good, nothing to do with what was said in press though.

However I still refused to accept Morgan would stay until 23.00 on Monday, despite all the assurances that he would.

Just call me as glass half emty person.

  2. I guess one win makes everything better and proves the happy clappers were right all along. I fully expect a loss next week and the bed wetters to produce some old thread that proves they were right all along. And so on till the end of the season when it all begins again.

  3. you really think we received 92m cash up for all our players?

Do you really think we paid cash up front for all our players? We're probably still paying for Ramirez and Osvaldo. Nobody believes all transfers are paid cash up front but every newspaper/website/tv station etc just takes the overall price when working out how much clubs have bought or sold. It makes life easier and doesn't make much difference. If you're going to be picky about how much we've sold, you've got to be picky about how much we bought.

  4. lambert was called up after a full season doing well. Lallana had to wait ages while inferior players got their chance and Shaw had the help of huge hype and probably man utd move.

Can players get in? Yes. But do they get in as easily as the top clubs? No. Sterling wasn't ready first time yet got games based on a couple of Liverpool sub appearances. He's earned his place now and that's how it should be done. Delph and Huddlestone were good enough consistently for chances yet have only just got them. Smaller clubs yes, but why did it take so long? Curtis Davies had a good season, yet we took a clown like Smalling. Flanagan played out of position for a very open Liverpool defence and got called up, whereas others were playing better and regularly in preferred positions.

Is it easier for players at top teams to get into the England team? Yes. But then it's natural for players at teams that consistently place high in the league to be called up. They must be doing something right if they play at least semi regularly for those teams. I'm happy with the balance of where players come from as it is now. I certainly think there is more chance for good non Champions's League teams than there has been in the past 10 years.

  5. I can't believe people are claiming Clyne needs to join another club to play for England. Last year we had 4 players play for England, including one who, at the time had played less than 50 league games. Clyne will get his chance if he keeps doing what he is doing. There wasn't much difference between the 2 last year and now Chambers has shown he can play well at centre back, which is an area England are not great in. Yes it's a friendly but i expect Roy wants to find his best team ready for possibly our trickiest Euro qualifier away to Switzerland. John Stones is in the squad as well, has played a couple of games for England, so is more likely to be above Clyne in the pecking order for the Swiss game so it makes sense to pick him. i would think there is more chance of Clyne being chosen for the squad that plays San Marino.

  6. Really? It turned into a farce but People were practically begging him to sign at the time. The Ramirez saga dragged on for months too and when he eventually did sign his first comment told us exactly why he was here 'they pay me so much money' he said.

Add to that the numerous other players we chased during those two windows that turned us down quite how you can criticise the current board for doing exactly what cortese did the years before is beyond me.

Two years (and maybe one year ago) a lot of people, me included, were probably delighted that we spent the time and effort to sign big name players from possibly bigger clubs. Maybe I was naive then. Now I've realised, and I expect many others have too, that if it takes a long time to sign a big name player, it's because he's waiting for other clubs to put in offer sand will only join us as a last resort. I'll fully admit to being a giddy little school girl when we used to get linked with big name players. Hopefully i have wisened up.

  7. I'm hearing we are linked with a player called Danielle wellbeccio. He's a versatile striker/attacking midfielder from udinese. International player with 8 goals in 26 games for Uraguay. He's quick and strong, can play as a centre forward, winger or attacking midfielder. Watched his youtube best bits and he's scored some great goals including a brilliant and clever back heel winner v Columbia in the 2012 copa America a brilliant chip for udinese v Verona. He would be a brilliant signing, id never heard of him until today but a real statement of intent and fits just into the sort of pacy, versatile player we need.

Hmmm sounds a bit like Ramirez. No thanks

  8. How many premier league teams have two premier league goalkeepers? By that I mean two goalkeepers who could be first choice keeper at any other premier league club. I'm not saying we shouldn't aim to have 2 excellent ones but for a team without European football how realistic is it to ask a top quality keeper to just sit on the bench?

  9. Morgans off the field issues? He wants to move to a bigger club and get a payrise. I wouldn't call that an off field issue?

Gallagher is dealing with the death of his farther, at 19!!! Hardly comparable is it?

We can talk about Morgan because his off the field "issue" is football related. Gallaghers, seems nothing to do with football.

I don't think either has depression so I have no issues in discussing it so, from that comment, it means that if a player has depression due to football issues we can talk about it but not if it is non football related. I disagree.

I don't think there are hard and fast rules for what causes depression and what doesn't but I'd imagine not being allowed to have a better job for more money isn't going to help. Depression is a buzz thing at the moment but it's something people still have little knowledge about. I think people should be making the judgement that so and so is just being greedy so we don't really care how he feels and can call him all the names under the sun, however someone else should be treated with kid gloves by people who have no contact with him because their parent died.

  11. The trouble is now people have said on here that we should tread carefully when talking about off field problems in this discussions and suggesting it be closed without offering any facts about why he has been away has only added fuel to speculation.

  12. We can but we don't actually know sod all so pure speculation seems counter-productive at best.

I like that the forum is quite open and that we can discuss whatever posters feel like however I would urge a little caution and restraint when it may be about one of our players having off the field issues.

Seems a bit silly that people are allowed to have a 10 page thread about Morgan's 'H=head gone' due to off field issues and call him every name under the Sun but have to show restraint when asking why Gallagher hasn't been playing.

  13. Man U doing it because they think they could be a terrorist threat. Because they don't have the facilities that airports do to make people charge them up to check they are working, then they are just banning them. I don't think we could be considered as likely to be a terrorist target so i can't see it happening here.

  14. I am perfectly happy with my original post and the casual observation I was trying to making thanks. If you would like to waste another of your posts in a futile (and probably long-winded) attempt to convince me otherwise then feel free. I can't promise I will read it right to the end though.

Cheers, I'm glad you're enjoying the troll banter as much as me. In an attempt to be vaguely on topic I'll say that your casual observation that the premier might not be that good is as well argued as the rest of your statement. Is it the best? Probably not. Is is better than the Dutch league? probably. Is it better than MLS? definitely. Same time tomorrow then?
