  1. 1-4 down at Fartton, humiliated, and pathetic like never before, (live on tv as if it could be even more humiliating for our fans) with 10 minutes to go and Claus has a little laugh and joke with some skate player over whose throw in it is. No rush Claus, it's only the most important game of the season here. No passion from a single player that day. Horrific.

That's when I knew we would never be like Saints again.

  2. When are you dribblers going to give it a bleedin' rest?

We had season after season of steady improvement after 1997 when we turned from perennial relegation fodder (remember the gag about "struggling Southampton" that Dave Jones made on his appointment) to solid, solid, solid mid table, with an FA Cup final shaped cherry on top.

All that, was during the evil old PLC.

Love the way that people describe finishing eighth in the table as a "our decline".:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yes, we got relegated. Boo hoo. Who hasn't been?

We're not immune to relegation, children, never were, never have been (even before our "decline" when we dominated British football like a collosus in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995) and never will be.

    Get the **** over it.

Well I rarely agree with much you say CBF, and today is no exception, but I do enjoy the way you write it :-)

When, though, are we allowed to be a little bit ****ed off with the massive decline in every aspect of our club in your opinion? Do we just plummet and plummet saying "get the xxxx over it" for ever?

Can't be be a tiny bit f'ing disappointed?

  3. Yeah, and if you look at the league tables tonight and two weeks ago (comparing THREE games to ONE) then we've moved upwards.

Isn't being selective with the satitistics fun...

Yep. I can't wait until we get on to where we were 5 years ago and where we are now. Definately a club "on the up".

Listen, I think Jan is doing his best with what was left for him to work with but please don't bury your head in the sand and say these are great days for us because we aren't in the bottom three of the CCC. They're the worst in 40 odd years of following us.

I would love to say we are moving on, going somewhere, going to challenge for the play offs, looking finaially sorted etc etc but I think I would be deluding myself.

We're in the biggest ****e I can recall and that's unfortunately the truth of it.

  4. Well I don't want to be picky SS but I think a quick look at the league tables before and after the weekend will quite conclusively prove that we aren't on the way up.

Call me a doom merchant if you will but dropping five places is definately DOWNWARDS.

  5. I'm actually starting to find Scooby's comedy rather tedious. Just the same jokes over and over again, maybe you need some new material.

Still astonished that people respond to these posts seriously though. :|

Same as. A tedious one trick pony. Can I call him a**** on here too?

    Thanks

Ps Must start wearing bowler hats to games?

  6. Why is it we always follow up good performances with a c r a p live one which deters the floating fan from returning?

    It's so bloody annoying.

No answers but I agree it is bloody annoying. A half decent performance and even a point would have brought back several thousands for the next game at SMS IMO.

As for the skate, how he can laugh when they can't even fill their shed in the Premiership is beyond me.

  7. Things are going downhill. The Prince of Wales no longer has the tall blonde barmaid with the large mammary glands serving on Saturday lunchtimes

You are f'ing joking?! She was the main incentive to go! 90 miles to stare at those wonderful breasts and many's the time when I have wished I had stayed in the pub letching rather than walking down to SMS.

This is bloody shocking news :-(

  8. Blackpool, they have started well, cant believe there 3rd favs to go down.

Yes, I can't quite understand why they are always bracketed in the "totally ****e" league as they deserved to win at SMS and then won at, was it Birmingham? Or Wolves or whatever.

Regards the posts above I recently had a girlfriend called "Patsy" who is from "Watford" which is obviously beyond coincidence and means that they should be in the relegation zone too.

Sorry, it's late/early and this is complete drivel which will hopefully be ignored as the thread progresses.

  9. Without going on about what may or may happen in the future, for the record, if no-one knows about a situation, such as the start of this season, then choosing to be negative takes a particularly depressing disposition, and I don't think anyone should be jealous of such a sad existence. Forget football for a second, I just can't comprehend how people live like that. It would of course, be silly also to be hugely optimistic when having no information on a subject, so caution was the only approach if you had half a brain. But what I don't understand, is how far people can take the negativity in such a short space of time, GIVEN how low their expectation levels were supposed to be. They said we'd be going down. Well, at the moment we still have a great chance of staying up don't we, so why have we given up? Fine, moan on if it carries on until after christmas. I know some will say "it might be too late by then", but where the hell do you draw the line? Lose 5 games and you're out? 3? 1? The rules seems to change each season from the same people. "No keep Burley we need stability" they said, while he wasted every last penny and put us in this position, now it's "sack jan before it's too late", even though we all know there's no other viable option.

I appreciate the concerns and frustrations, and I don't mean to sound as insulting as I usually do, but really, what the hell are you all talking about??! There's so many irrational or ill-thought out comments. Sack the manager, sack the board, change the formation, drop him pick him, get investment and so on. We've done it all before, it hasn't helped us. Maybe it would this time, maybe there's some amazing manager that would come in and turn it round, but it would be Lowe's choice, so I find it doubtful many of you would give him more than 5-10 games either, so what's the point?

Ah, I see you're already going for the "wait til after Christmas" now Adrian :-)

You do this year after year until it's the "but if we win the next 9 games we could mathematically get into the play offs/not get relegated.

I do wish I could still get good Ecstasy like you.

  10. What a futile and pointless thread? Every bloody fan of SFC wants us to win every week - it's quite simple really NickH. Or maybe you are quite simple?

We are all Southampton fans (except for one or two skates who are allowed) and when on the odd occasion we do we win are ALL bloody delighted. That's twice now if you can keep count. You in the mean time tell us how great we are day in day out regardless of any visual or statistical evidence to the contrary.

This apparently makes you a greater fan than the unconvinced. And when on those rare days we do win you think it means you were always right, enjoy it more than the rest of us and are the top fan ever.

F'ing marvellous result today, I'm ecstatic. It doesn't mean losing to Rotherham and being 19th in the CC makes us world beaters but it does mean we're all happy tonight - except YOU! Oh the beautiful irony - when we do finally win YOU are the one who's ****ed off because there aren't enough complaints for you to slag off?

  11. Just imagine the bloke walking round the pitch as SMS! Would bring many a tear to the eye and, I think I'm right, a few thousand more oldies in just to see him again and applaud him to the heavens, not to mention those younger who will know the legend by generations before them and want to see him in person for perhaps a first time.

A lovely lovely thought. I hope he can get over here and be treated like a king.

  12. One of the worst games I've ever seen.

They were all bad, DMG probably the worst. Can't think of anyone who had a good game.

Atmosphere was terrible and the Northern was full of goormless kids. Very depressing.

According to the OS, Barnsley had 820 fans ? surely a typo, from where I was sitting it looked no more than about 200...

390 according to Radio Barnsley, who had also said that it looked about 200. Which means an improvement on our support from Wednesday! Numbers wise anyway.

  13. Boot Boy out.

    Insect Crouch out.

    McEnemy long gone.

    Flowing total football.

    Flatcaps class prejudice.

    Lord Lowe's vision.

    Flowing total football.

    Not route one.

Oh, sorry about Saints not the poster!:

  14. Administration is not the finish though. Far from it. IF it happens we won't be the first and we won't be the last. It would undoubedtly have a serious negative effect upon the club - however, it is NOT the finish, not by a long shot.

If you are a fan - then you cannot be so purely when the team are riding high. Unfortunately you have to take the lows (no pun intended) too. Things are not bright now - but who knows what will happen. If you want to support a club that wins every week then perhaps you should change allegiance to either Chelsea or Man Utd.

Again - administration is a distinct possibility - the 'finish' is not..!

What a load of sanctimonious crxp! No one on here is going to change allegiance but you are basically saying that if you support Southampton you should be happy to have no dreams, no hopes, no expectations and no right to be pxssed off when things look utterly ****e.

I can't stand people, who in the face of 3 years complete ongoing and worsening disaster, dredge up this tired old pathetic cliche of "go and support a bug club then". We are all stuck with our club but if you feel anything for SFC YOU should be ****ED OFF at what has become of us.

I don't see how it makes you a great fan to be happy about our current predicament. To me it makes you someone who doesn't really care that much.

  15. after about 65 minutes, it's like a switch was flicked, and they all forgot how to play football.

It was laughable. James was ****e. He clearly needs a rest. Outmuscled for the Second Goal, and could see he didn't know what to say when Wotton was ripping it out of him.

Gillett was almost non-exsistant again, McGoldrick couldn't be arsed, Dyer was Dire....

But 2-2. I'll take that. Davis one again keeping us in the game.

Oh, and 14,000 fans there. Some super fans we have!

More than the richest club in the world had on Sunday then? And they weren't bottom of the table beforehand and can realistically dream of much better things on the horizon.

  16. Blimey! This all turned a bit nasty!

It just seemed like a happy thread from someone who had had a great day and dropped in an interesting snippet he heard from someone who we all admire and respect (probably). Admittedly NOT the horse's mouth but still interesting.

For what it's worth, which is not very much, I think some of you have been a bit harsh on the guy. But that's just my opinion.

I totally agree with a poster above about correcting people's grammar and punctuation when you don't agree with their opinion. Does it really matter on a football chat site if someone's writing is not impeccable?

I'm trying to keep the peace here by the way not re-start the argument.

I'd still like to know how you get an invite from (the) MLT to go to the Sky studio though.

  17. I'd rather Saints beat QPR on Sunday than England win a world cup.

That pretty much sums up my view too Andy. I've always been slightly ashamed that the national team are only of the slightest interest to me compared to SFC's fortunes but I'm glad to see that many on here seem to agree.

I seem to have spent 20 years watching lacklustre, dull, predictable performances from players who embarass their country with their incompetence - preceeded by "we'll make it up to the fans this time" and proceeded by pathetic excuses.

Add on the point that there are skates in the side and I will probably watch Scottish Andy Murray playing tennis to be honest.

As mentioned elsewhere, I think it is largely JCLs who watch England now and a long while since our over-paid laughably called "world class" players gave a fxxk so why should I/we?

  18. considering the initial thread would have taken some time to compose its nice to see posters are not being flippant.

Damn! I was just going to post a flippant reply now I'm going to have to pretend I know what I'm talking about with a coherent argument!

Nope........it's no good, I can't do it. Except that I came to the same conclusion about this as the original poster's some time ago but thought I must have missed something or was being naive. Enlightening stuff eh?

(There have been some very funny flippant comments though nickh!)

  19. Have we managed (by some clever trickery, magic or agent) to get rid of Euell?

    * Hang on there's lots of people having sex on my television? Not literally "on top" of my television but in the screen bit. What's that all about then?

    * Sorry, no rush for an answer about Jason Euell at the moment but I'd like to know if we were saving the worst spent wages in SFC's football history?

  20. For your info Pxmpey fans are having their own mini-crisis about the atmosphere at FP. They don't think it is all that since they got promoted, they think they only have the same tired old songs (christ they are right about that - the Pxmey chimes and still singing the great escape?), not much singing in general, the Farton End quiet, John Westwood stomping out at half time against because they stopped him ringing his bell etc.

I think they finished in the top 8 in The Prem last season? So please don't make them out to be great fans in comparison to ours.

Oh sorry, I forgot they also won the cup for the first time in 70 years or something too (but allegedly didn't sell all their tickets for the final anyway) yet struggle to fill their shed with a team that we would die for.

We can argue amongst ourselves, and tbh I thought most of the booing was aimed at Blackpool players' antics and the ref, but personally I find it more offensive to be told by an alleged Saints fan how great "they" are. They are a bunch of ****s IMO.

  21. thats why the club has been in freefull ,pompey fans seem to back their team.

  22. It's a good job you are not your Lord and Master's accountant. 2 + 2 = 5

Feel free to carry on trolling....

Difficult to see past the like of Ron Davies, Terry Paine, Mick Channon and MLT for me. Beattie did his bit but to include him in the 'greatest' alongside the above? Sorry, not for me.

I agree. Beattie had his golden spell but to mention him in the same breath as those you've named is laughable IMO. (I can only assume Scooby is a lot younger than I assumed.) Beatts isn't fit to polish Mick Channon's boots.

Can I just mention, if not already done (I haven't finished reading the whole thread) that with regards scoring against Pxmpey, Mick scored 3 against them at The Dell in ONE game 75/76 and then the last minute winner at FP in the same season.

Vey honourable mentions from my years of watching to Moran and Keegan too who can be counted in the all time greats. Too young for Reeves and O'Brian etc but amidst these names and others Beattie wouldn't even make a top 10. IMO.

  23. realistic - when shown to be real

    when not known

optimists - lean towards positive outcome

    pessimists -vice versa

Its arrogant to believe ones prediction is the only realistic one

That's why I put "realists" in inverted commas. It was your phrase which is in the title of the thread you started!
