  1. Hard to pick just one but I can't remember being happier after a game than the 4-0 thrashing of Pxmpey in 75/76 season. Channon hat-trick in ****ing rain. Got home to watch full game being re-shown on South Today and then had to write an essay for school about what we had done at the weekend. I think mine won an award of some sort as it was the longest ever submitted!

  2. Brad Friedel when we drew with Blackburn 1-1 at SMS, Andy Cole late equaliser I think? Never seen someone repel literally everything we threw at him.

Same here. Unbelievable! Worse still he did exactly the same either the season before or the season after and they won with a brilliant but thoroughly undeserved late goal. One of those games Beattie scored from a penalty and I remember saying to my nephew that was the only way we could score against him.

  3. I assume the OP meant "taking on" as in "challenging" not "taking on" as in "appointing"

According to Adam Leitch from the Echo on Talksport no other group would want to go "toe to toe" against an MLT backed bid as it would be very unpopular to challenge our hero.

I understand what he means as I think we all initially thought of the MLT/"wealthy" Pinnacle consortium as the dream ticket.

  4. I have been told by an employee of SFC that the Pinnacle takeover will happen today.

Furthermore Hoddle is the front runner to be manager.

Source has been reliable in the past...... but not always 100% right

There was more info from MLT on Sky yesterday and here is the link:

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11700_5405966,00.html

I agree with MLT that I'd rather take the 10 point deduction and ensure the stability of the club at the moment before it's too late.

However I would have thought that Glenda would probably be the very last person on his list of wanted managers so I'm afraid I would dismiss that rumour as BS.

  5. I always vote in elections but shamefully this time couldn't be arsed to walk a mile or so to put a cross to any party's name unless I knew there would be some bizarre eccentric independent whose vote would count for nothing anyway.

    Fxck 'em all quite frankly.

  6. I am the voice of the fans.

That's exactly what annoys me Kadeem! Why aren't you asked to do all these interviews? Make yourself known to the media as soon as :-)

(I happen to think also that the thread title blaming Richard Chorley for an article he is not even mentioned in is a bit rich. Don't know the bloke and he certainly seems to polarise views on here but when he posted on here it was with well argued, articulate points.)

Yes I am tired of Nick being wheeled out as the "voice of the fans" but if a paper phones you up and asks for your opinion well you're going to give it.

  7. I have to say that this takeover is proving to be more exciting than last season's football, can we do it again next year?

Maybe in March we can have the Northam and Itchen North start the "Stewart/Branson/Beckham/Chemical Ali OUT" chants and then we can all do it again next off-season, otherwise what else are we going to do?

I'm not quite sure I'd call it "exciting" Noodles. More sort of "bowel worrying"? (Or is that just my own personal bodily function problem?)

I can't wait for a proper debate about how shxt our players are myself. Those were the days.

Anyway, no worries, next close season we'll be discussing how on earth we are all going to get tickets for the local derby and arguing whether the play-offs is good enough instead of an automatic promotion spot. Probably.

  8. Are you in love with Glenn Hoddle?

I can only assume he IS Glenn Hoddle? Glenn, you are, were and always will be a total cxnt and however many times you post on here won't alter that fact. You're also stuck with it forever according to your own bizarre "philosophy". You will come back as a piece of mould on Rupert's soiled underwear and that is where you belong.

Until you admit that you irrationally, cluelessly, bitterly, unprofessionally couldn't admit that MLT was infact a more talented player than you ever were and that is why you didn't pick him you are destined for an eternity of minor life forms, perhaps progessing to a plankton as the eons go on your god finds some forgiveness in his heart.

Perhaps mystic Meg will advise you on when this new step up will occur but until then just STFU!

  9. Hi Frank, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by just how advanced in the process they actually are. Certainly my impression is that they are expecting to complete and are already putting their plans into effect in confidence of realising that completion.

Now that's the sort of stuff I want to hear! I don't like the thought of our horse falling over that last fence, it would just be so Saints.

Cheers NSS. You seem to be a damn decent chap for a Pxmpey fan!*

(* Paranoia sets in. What if he is just the most convincing wind up? Why does he know more than any Saints ITKers? Why is he so nice?) Jeez, this last few weeks have made me a nervous, untrusting wreck - must take more medication.

  10. Everyone has their own opinion, some stayed away, some because of him(as proved by people posting), others for different reasons (including myself)

Some people still wanted to go and support no matter what

Who gives a ****? We are all saints fans, there is no specific way to support a club, you do it however you want because you enjoy it

These are all moot points, we are where we are, which is rock bottom and we need to move on form this travesty of a few years, no matter what you think caused it

Debate is good but this is bordering on the surreal

    All imho of course

And a vey good opinion IMO EM.

But it's good to see that the potential hope and future we have now has united fans once again eh?! No more bickering on here it seems :-)

  11. Well he was Le God already and I'm not sure there is a vacancy above that title :-)

Thankyou Matt, for everything. Your contribution to this club rivals that of Ted Bates and I for one hope you're here for another 50 years, just like he was...

    LOL.

This has been on my mind for the last day or two aswell. Although he clearly deserves a promotion from being mere God now I'm not sure where you go from there?

Definately all sides of the ground should be named after him although this may cause confusion when booking tickets. A statue in the middle of town. All street names to be changed to honour him ("Le Tiss Avenue", "MLT Road", "Matt's Place" etc etc).

    Maybe Hampshire should be Letissiershire?

Nope, you're right, promotion from God is hard - maybe we should just worship more?

  12. No questions yet just a thank you that we can all maybe sleep a lot easier and look forward to a/the future. What a relief. What a change in attitude from a previous regime :-)

    We'll walk the................sorry!

  13. What a moving post Tim. To be honest, If I'd read it yesterday morning I'd probably have been in tears. As it is, with recent news and fingers firmly crossed, I read it today with my eyes filling up but with nostalgia but not despair.

Today it has made me feel like I almost don't care what division we find ourselves in as long as we have our club. We all have our squabbles and disagreements on here (and I'm as much to blame as the next person) but when I go to watch Saints, especially away games, every single man, woman and child on our side is a friend.

Top post Tim. Here's to happier times!!!

  14. You are guilty of blinkered vision.

Portsmouth FC has a history of over a hundred years, which I am sure he will have had researched for him,up to and including last years FA Cup.

The stadium has had planning permission granted, but Abramovich did not proceed (presumably due to the recent credit crunch),however to say that there is no room to expand is not correct,(that also includes plans for a new supermarket etc,etc ) and there is always the land outside the Portsea Island area, such as Cosham,Farlington, etc, etc.

Whether it is "an awful city", is just your view, but many hundreds of coaches take holidaymakers to Southsea every year, and many more go to see all the other attractions, and I would suggest that an Arab billionaire could easily see the advantages of Portsmouth.

BUT,BUT,BUT in the end he doesn't give a flying fig. All he sees is a team in the Premier League as opposed to one on another planet somewhere.

So...................the multi-rich Arab has decided to reseach the football history of all 92 football clubs before making his financial decision then? Ah I see. Perhaps in his intensive personal investigations he missed that SFC was founded in 1885. Crazy mistake for an astute businessman and his team basing such financial outlay on such matters.

Perhaps he was influenced by that "holding the FA Cup for the longest" fact that he would have eagerly latched upon? With his money I have no doubt that he asked for the exact details number of tourist coaches travelling to Southsea as opposed to other clubs.

There is certainly room to expand from Fratton though I agree. He could demolish the whole area and those beautiful places like Cosham you mention with no-one giving a ****.

Bloody clever bloke. Not even thinking about Premiership income but the number of coaches to Southsea. What planet are you on?

  15. Wow does everyone need to relax.

An old blast from the past may be hovering around and could help secure some global talent for the club

Not unless Sir Ted Bates has miraculously risen from his grave and made a fortune in heaven?

Relax? Oh right, ok then - yep, no worries here. We're just chilling. No rush, panic or anything on this site.

Perhaps you could return to a skate site now?

  16. right, hello saints fans. i have been going to allmost every home and away game for southampton for the last 5 years. as i have seen we have good support when we go away. but when ive seen other clubs at home and there support i think ours it terrible. i think this is because of the music they play at the stadiums. the type of music what gets the crould going. here is my choice of songs what i think will get our support as southampton FC to get our support up! COYR

    thats about all.

hope you enjoy reading this post.

Ps If we ever play ANY of those songs apart from the last two I will finally find the Pxmpey chimes to be original, witty and entertaining.

  17. Sorry to be a miserable cxnt but this has to go down as one of the most miserable days of many thousand miserable days as a Saints fan.

The last thing I want to (re)discuss is what song we will come out to next season rather than what players or what stadium we will have left or even what league or nowhere a f'ing all.

As for the original suggested versions they have depressed me almost as much as the rest of the day's news (and lack of) for their utterly uninspired or original nature AND I would far rather have no f'ing music anyway apart from me and my fellow fans singing our arses off (if that is biologically possible).

Sorry, it's been a really really ****e day on the football front (what with the Pxmpey news and the hours of trawling for news of our plight) so this thread has turned me from bloody depressed to nearly suicidal :-(

  18. I want to know why SSN are so obsessed with some bloody game in Rome tonight and the only passing mention of Southampton I've seen was "Mark Wotte says they will need to sell at least 2 players" - which is certainly a bloody bizarre bit of timing by him and not greatly encouraging.

I am being overwhelmed by the lack of definite news! (Except about sodding PFC which is probably the last thing I wanted to hear. Ok, second last.)

  19. I'm aware of the reputation of Marc Jackson from reading on here over the last couple of years, and also from that interview he gave when attempting to take over Bournemouth. Appears to me that the major accusations about him are that he is dyslexic, a chancer and that he couldn't back up his claims with hard cash.

I know absolutely nothing about Stuart Green, but it seems he is a moderately successful business man, I am guessing in much the same way as Leon Crouch. Local businessman with enough money to gain control of the club, but not enough to do a huge amount with it.

However, if they have indeed managed to throw together just short of 14m to gain control of the club, then I guess we can discount one of the criticisms against Marc Jackson. And frankly I am not that bothered about his dyslexia if he is going to play a major role in helping the club avoid liquidation. As for being a chancer, I guess people make this assumption on the basis that he doesn't have any significant money himself. So basically, he is a normal Saints fan with a desire to be involved in the football club that he loves, and has put in a lot of time and effort to try and make that happen. I bet there are a hundred fans on this forum who would love to be able to put themselves in the same position (and that is perhaps the major reason he gets a slating on here- a Saints fan, like us, who has the audacity to have a dream and try to make that happen).

However, the major issue I have is that a successful bid by these two may just prove to be as divisive as Rupert Lowe was. I can already imagine the hand-wringing on this forum if they do gain control, right from the start, when in fact a much better reaction would be to give the guys a chance to prove themselves. After all, it doesn't appear that anyone else is working hard enough to show Fry the cash, and for that reason they deserve our support.

For what it's worth, I would prefer the club to be taken over by someone else (the Pinnacle 'bid' sounds like a good long-term solution for Saints, while the offer of a mystery overseas party seems to promise much greater sums of cash), but if that is not to happen and Jackson and Green gain control, they have my full support.

I could not agree more. I would wish that there are still other options open and hold out some small hope of that but jeez we can't be too picky at the moment folks.

I say this with no sarcasm but it was good to see quite a range of others agree with the post above (after an initial misunderstanding) because, whatever any of forum members' previous views or grievances with past administrations have been before, I'm sticking to my hope that we have a club to support next season and that is about all that matters right now?

  20. At the end of the day if there are no other bids accepted then there are two choices....

    a) Get behind their bid and support the lads, appreciate that these guys have saved SFC from extinction.

    b) F*ck off and watch Eastleigh.

If Lowe was to come back then I would choose 'b' , but as he is not, and having met Jackson and I think his heart is in the right place, I think I would give these guys my support.

Now is not the time to question people, it is not the time to ask for more, it is not the time to be fussy.....

.... it is time to sit back and appreciate that we need somebody/anybody to buy the club and at least see us in the fixture lists which are set when the league meets on June 12th.

Thank fxck for that piece of common sense Stu. I cannot believe people are holding up MJ and any deal he brokers to derision if it is all that we have between having a club and not having a club. Ok it's not our dream saviour but ffs we aren't in much of a position to belittle people who just might find some way to save us surely?

I hope he doesn't bother reading some of this shxt because if I was him I'd say "well go **** yourselves then".

I'm not going to express any personal opinion of the bloke because, quite frankly, I'm ****ting myself that any time soon we might not have a club to bother having a forum about.

We are, unfortunately, beggars at the moment.

  21. Oh FFS, I was so distracted with the in-fighting that I forgot my main point was if Leon Crouch is keeping this club alive NOW, I don't care about the past. Whatever you may think of his past performance he deserves a huge thanks from all of us for what he is doing NOW - he has no obligation to do this.
