  1. Lol

I just don't follow Birch's reasoning in reducing tickets to £9.50. It's going to **** off season ticket holders and those who have paid full price, which might be worthwhile if it meant theyd really 'pack the park'. But surely any decent PFC fan (I know, I know ...) would already be going to this game whether it costs £9.50 or £25. It's pretty much the most important game of the season so far for them.

Are they going to refund the difference to those who have already paid more?

Even if not, £9.50 will hardly cover the costs of stewarding and extra police etc. .. oh and errm cleaning the toilets.

I guess one reason is if you are trying to sell the club then having a half empty stadium will not look good to the prospective buyer?

  2. Blooming heck.

Selling tickets for £9.75 That's about £7.50 after VAT

Might as well stick the CLOSING DOWN SALE stickers in the window at FP.

Probably hoping to make money by getting people to pay to be let out early!

  3. I guess the police have some proof that they deliberately lied under oath when previously questioned?

Also see that ofcom are reviewing news international with respect to their share holding in BskyB and Murdocks position as chairman. Just shows what damage can be caused by trying to cover things up.

  4. That's the real nightmare for the FL - a legal challenge to any decision on points penalties that makes their governance look a bit useless.

Sounds like the ideal scenario for the FL is that pompey complete their fixtures, are 'relegated' and then are liquidated. Then they just have to decide about how to rebalance the leagues.

  5. Also I believe an 'indicative bid' is one where the possibly buying party effectively says "With what we know we are willing to pay X but may change our mind when we have had a look at the books". If on looking at the books they find problems they did not know about before (surely not!) they are then within their rights to reduce the size of the bid or withdraw it all together.

  6. If it's an indicative offer wouldn't that suggest that more than one party/ group are interested?

Why? As far as I can tell its would be someone saying to Birch "I/We offer to buy the club for this much, thought the figure may change depending on what I find out". Just a method of showing you are serious (though one assumes you would have to show proof that you had the money). Its up to Birch to decide what is best for the creditors so he would have to balance what they would get from a probably low price offer to buy the club against selling its parts via liquidation. Does not necessarily mean a bidding process between two parties.

Plus its all a rumour at the moment, just remember what hope does..

  7. I think Birch is saying that in both cases, Chainrai will simply have to take what he can get in the event of liquidation. The debenture will only be worth what the liquidator can get for the club's assets - bear in mind that when a business is liquidated, there is no guarantee of secured creditors being paid in full. Fratton Park, as an asset of PFC2010, will be handled in exactly the same way. That bit does surprise me, as I'd have assumed that the Land Registry entry would be the clincher.

So let me try and get this straight?!

If they are liquidated can the liquidator sell FP even though it has the land registry entry? If not and portpin say no and he can't then sell it what happens to FP?

  8. Looks like west ham are finding out that playing hoofball works well to start with but is less effective once teams figure out how to play you. At least teams that play good football have the option to switch to hoofball but teams used to just playing hoofball can find it hard to play other ways.

  9. so what do all the experts on here think will happen tomorrow then when TB is back in court giving his update on pompeys prospects?.

Are we sure this is happening? Only reference I can remember is one random post on a skaet board from someone who may have been on a wind-up?

  10. On the point of automatic relegation how about the following (though probably more holes in it than the fratton park roof):

Any team going into admin gets an automatic 10 point deduction.

If at the end of the season that club is relegated then the 10 points will carry over if they would have been relegated without it.

If at the end of the season a club that has been/is in admin is not in the relegation positions then they will play a playoff match against the highest place non-promoted team in the league below. If more than one team in this situation then the lowest place team plays the highest non-promoted in the league below, second lowest plays second highest, etc.

What would happen if a team went into admin but still got promoted is too confusing to think!

  11. Comment from the daughter of Fred Dineage, who is MP for Gosport, as reported in Hansard on 18th Janaury

'I am in favour of any positive discrimination that involves Portsmouth FC''

No doubt echoing Dad's comments and playing to the gallery

Well if they disappear then TCWTB will no longer be on TV so she will get one request answered:

Caroline Dinenage, Conservative MP for Gosport and member of the parliamentary inquiry into online child protection, said there was an urgent need to address inappropriate television content.
  12. I think (sadly) we are painting a slightly bleaker picture than in truth exists.... I think they will saty up' date=' survive and avoid any further sanctions... whether through chinney or if not by having their debt burden reduced to a managable amount within the CVA - Birch seems to have gone quieter on the validity of Chinny's debenture, which suggests Chinney and CSI are back in the driving seat re any CVA and there is feck all HMRC or BT can do about it - Birch does not want to loose face, but seems Chinney is the opnly option - which means he gets a CVA through giving everyone else about 4p in the £1 which is perfect as it reduces some 18mil of previous CVA and HMRC debt to arround 4.5 mil, and with around 3-4 years to pay it so covered as always by the parachute payments remaining - fund teh club to the tune of a couple of mil to seasons end, sell off players in the summer and have teh club in a beter position so that he can scoop a fair few mil if the club is sold - AA an chinney are way ahead of us - just that Birch being appointed just delayed their plans ... IMHO naturally. TDCSBs will get away with it yet again - -10 points is no punishment.[/quote']

In your scenario where do they get the money to both carry on to the end of the season and pay their high earners next season?

  13. If we're happy that the league has closed all avenues to legal action or pressure then it works for me.

I just feared that with so many clubs likely to see their circumstances change that the pressure of member clubs could lead to internal pressure to see them dragged to the last weekend against all odds, if not court action.

Thing is for most of the clubs in mid table it will make no difference. A few clubs will benefit from them staying and a few would benefit if they were liquidated. I would expect on the results front there would only be pressure on the league from a small number of clubs. There may be some general pressure for them not to be liquidated as it would show the league in a bad light but not sure if this would be strong enough to make the league act to save pompey.

  14. This is surely a minefield for ethical behaviour. Any club in the Championship or and club who is owing monies to or is owed money from PFC should not be allowed to have purchase their players on loan. Clubs like WestSpam buying any player from PFC is cheating in the highest order because they have most to lose should they fold and it can be seen that they are only buying the player to avoid the points being expunged.

Ethical behaviour? I expect both pompey and west ham have heard of it even if they are not sure what it means.

  15. Use Dokuwiki for doing something like this. Paying for a hosted personal domain/website so added it on as well. Works quite well, especially as info is password protected so I can look it up from where ever I am. Not sure it worth jumping through hoops just for that but easy to add if you already have a site. I use mythic beasts for hosting (recommended + local to me). Sure there are others cheaper but it works well for me.
