  1. Just because you have a bigger ground doesnt make you a bigger club does it. Your in the lower tier with us and bournemouth so in my opinion you are a ****ing little club as well. With limited resources over the years and we are still above you in the league. your just a small tin pot club in Portsmouth.

What a load of b*ll*cks!! Brighton are a much bigger club than Wigan Athletic and Blackpool (although without B'pool's history) but in a lower division, stuck in a sh!t hole of a ground. Sheffield Wednesday are a bigger club than Saints but they are below us in the league. However the two biggest clubs south west of a line following the M2, M25, M40, M6 and M56 are Souhampton and P*rtsmouth (by a country mile).

  2. Those pedants among us would understand that a new decade would start on the 1st January of a year ending in a one (e.g. tomorrow) so you're all wrong. If you don't believe me, go back to the start of the A.D era (the year AD1) and count forward in tens - the decade ends today , not a year ago or last May. Now I'm going out to try to find a life..zzzzzzzzzz.....

Err no!! The decade starts on the first second of the first minute of the first hour of the first day of the first year!! Chronological counting is very different from numerical. You are not born as a one year old (unless your a horse).

  3. Absolutely.

The far side was the problem area, the bit where the sun could not reach because of the stand.

Unless they have a magic roll in roll out construction my guess is the stand doesn't move.

Given that was there nobody at Charlton who couldnt have worked out that the area shaded from the sun and therefore icey would stay icey with temperatures not getting above zero and no sunshine on it to even give it a half a chance ?

Its not rocket science and could have saved 2500 Saints fans plus all their own supporters a wasted journey.

Despite the groundsman, the 'local' referee, the two teams, Charlton's CEO and the two managers opinion that it was perfectly playable?

  4. Good shout!

Mods, don't want to do your job for you but let's have nominations today with a poll opening tomorrow. So, if we're talking the 2000-2001 season onwards its from Hoddle-era. Three obvious shouts are Pahars, Bridge and Beattie. No doubt someone will nominate Michael Svensson but he only played about 70 games for us so, in my opinion, there is no way he can be the player of the decade.

Can we do player of the 90s next week, and 80s the week after and so on?

Ten seasons starting 2000-2001 finished in May.

  5. Not heard of injuries and suspensions then? Nothing to do with Plan A not working. When Lambert is unavailable we do not have cover, simple as that. Similar with Fonte and Jaidi, our cover is very thin with Seaborne, Martin seems not to be favoured by NA (I don't know why). WE have more than half the season to go, and will be playing 3 games a week at times, we will suffer injuries and we will have suspensions, ergo we need cover in one or two positions. We also need competition for places, currently there is no real competition for RL or for our 3 CBs. There is no need to have a bigger squad, we need to get rid of Pulis, Forecast and Wotton and bring in about 3 more, so the squad stays the same size actually.

Yes but if you buy better than you've already got, the current players become the back-up. It's called continuous improvement (as opposed to continuous decline, which is what we've suffered from for the past 8 or 9 years).

  6. I wonder if any of those slagging off those wanting a refund actually went to Charlton' date=' or are they taking the moral high ground from behind their PC's as usual.[/quote']

Don't think they're slagging off, just making some reasonable and valid points. There should however be some sort of slush fund that clubs (and maybe the referee's association) pay into. maybe an insurance policy, that allows them to refund supporters on these occasions.

  7. I was thinking that they may even drop Colly for Finn and play with 5 bowlers.

Suppose they will make the decision on the morning of the match, once conditions taken into consideration.

Would so love to win this and take the series 3-1.

If we go with an extra bowler at Sydney it will be Monty.

  8. The Dell years were dominated by 'the building of a new stadium' in every patch of ground within a 10 mile radius of the City Centre.

And it was actually built on a piece of ground nobody knew anything about, let alone discussed on various message boards.

  9. agreed, but I fear our rise through the divisions might be too slow to keep him. Hope not, but his Dad seems slightly uncomittal when talking about his future. Lots of `happy where we are for now' rather than `he's going nowhere'. I suppose he'd be mad to close doors, but I'm not confident of a long stay at ours. He is a tremendous talent and I think he has what it takes to go all the way.

I agree with this. However, I don't think he'll go this transfer window and what happens in the summer is very much dependant on whether we go up.

  10. "The coaching staff rate him more highly than Theo Walcott at the same age" Is that the same coaching staff or different coaching staff then... Just asking.

Anyway sounds like agent talk to me, yes I know that his dad is his agent.

Sounds like they've been at the cooking sherry a little early this Christmas, if you ask me!!! None of the present coaching staff, with the exception of Doddsy were here when Theo was that age and anyway, hadn't he already been sold for £10million plus by then?
