  1. Radio Solent said earlier they thought a new manager may not be appointed for a week or two yet. I would have thought this might be the case had we lost 4-0 Saturday and Pardew lost his job due to a poor run of results. Instead Cortese has, for whatever reason, made this decision now and would surely have someone lined up and ready to go? Especially considering the coaching staff were sacked too.

  2. so, new manager wants loads of new players and has no time to buy them, January he goes mental so our reserve squad goes through the roof pushing overheads up. Players have no idea who is in charge in the mean time.

    ****ing stupid

Why would you assume the new manager would need "loads" of new players? Anybody who comes in will quickly realise this squad is good enough to be promoted to the Championship. Maybe adding 1 or 2 players.

  3. By the wording of the OS article the new manager would be the one Cortese wants to keep hold of and have in charge for the Premier League. This would therefore surely have to be someone with a proven managerial background and also someone that has bought into Cortese's future image for the club.

  4. Mental, a complete joke and another season ruined. Why can't we have just one normal season? Where is NC going to find someone better than AP at this level?

    Madness.

What is madness is people thinking this season is over. Finished. Done.

It's August, we have 43 games and 129 points to play for.

    Get a grip.

  5. Would be a truly outstanding choice - if true.

O'Neill's mentor the late, great, Brian Clough dropped down the leagues to build a under performing club (Nottingham Forest) into a real force in the game. It might represent an entirely different (and reinvigorating) type of challenge to a manager who has already proved himself in the EPL. Probably too good to be true of course, but there's no harm in dreaming I suppose.

Perhaps, for a time, get himself away from the entirely money-fuelled world of the Premier League.

  6. Desperately disappointed Alan has gone as it seems we were starting to turn the corner, but at the end of the day if Cortese and Pards can't work together the manager has to go. This could have been planned or Pardew could have asked for more money for another player and Nicola cracked.

But for his sake, Cortese best have somebody worthwhile lined up. And fast!

But i'm glad this came out now, rather than further down the line in the season.

  7. Is that really true?

Do you have any names in mind?

I'm not persuaded there will be rich pickings from the 25 rule, but hope I'm wrong.

I know some f***wit on here argued we might get Craig Bellamy a few weeks back. Are there any more credible targets though?

Couldn't really imagine it happening but Michael Johnson from Man City looks a great prospect in CM and seems out of favour. Expect him to go somewhere like Boro though.

  8. I'm not sure if I wasn't hearing things, but it sounded like the Northam End were singing about Nathan Tyson during the 2nd half last night. I'm only about 70% sure they were singing about Nathan Tyson though!

Is there anybody who was sat it the Northam End last night that can clarify this for me please? It was about 15 minutes in to the 2nd half if I recall correctly!

I heard nothing like that sung

  9. Lets not get to bitter about the results Marco, Don't matter one jot who had most of the game Shots, corners, what ever, end of the day we ARE in the hat, your NOT, simples,

Extra time and extra games is probably the last thing Cotterill and his shoe-string side need.

  10. Seems as though Owen Coyle plans to play a weakened side, which would give us a fighting chance. I reckon Pardew will put out our strongest squad, hoping to start building a winning mentality.

  11. I have been accused several times of demanding signings for the sake of it. Sod their quality.

Well, I reckon a lot of people on here feel obliged to applaud a signing just because its a signing. Nobody has a f**king clue if he will deliver.

Look at the abuse anyone who questioned the Dickson signing got. Now look how that has worked out.

Hence why Pardew has got him on loan, which you were 'underwhelmed' by.

Dickson has promise, having seen him play.

  12. I don't think puncheon is a bad player but i do think he needs a kick up the arse. He's playing badly at the moment and not thinking on the ball. He also seems to think that he has to beat ten players before he can cross (not that there was anyone in the box for him for most of today's game).

Again i think that comes back to the manager, bollock him at half time, sub him if it continues and then for a last resort drop him if his attitude doesn't change. Same thing goes with dropping Jaidi, the whole ground can see he's not up to it any more (it's sadly a bit like Perry last season that you can see he's got too old).

Agreed. Was disappointed not to see Holmes or Dickson in his place.

He's not a bad player but he's in terrible form and needs to get with the programme.

  13. What are you on? Punchon played well I thought. He was the only one with barnard who looked like doing anything. He was really strong on the ball. Lallana was the one who was off the pace today. Hammond was rubbish again. Punchon isnt the problem imo.

He is infuriating to watch, I don't think i've ever shouted PASS so loud before....and he still didn't!
