  1. Because the people who watch him think that because he's not Brett Ormerod and doesnt run round like a headless chicken that he is ****. I'm pretty certain that you ask anybody who watched him while he was playing in the reserves a few years ago, that they will tell you he's never been one that looks like giving a ****. Infact, random and slightly sad but I remember a post on this board a while ago after a reserve game saying something like "McGoldrick was **** today, we slagged him off all game, didn't look interested, couldnt be arsed at all, but to be fair he scored twice."

Don't all top strikers say something along the lines of "The best bit of movement you can do as a striker is no movement at all. Standing still is just as useful" I certainly don't see players like RVN running there socks off. (He's alot better than McGoldrick and has alot better service, before anyone says "but RVN scores McGoldrick doesn't".)

Also quite sad but I remember Beattie saying something about teaching our young strikers like Blackstock, McGoldrick and Best that chasing stuff down just gets you into posistions out wide where you cant score from. As I said earlier, Ormerod did that, and he scored like 4 times or something silly for us. When you play one up front, which is our best option because we have no other strikers worth playing, you dont want that centre forward whipping in crosses to nobody after he's just ran his arse off to get the ball off the left back.

The kid does not look like he gives a ****. Yes he's been **** the last few games, he couldn't finish his breakfast against Forest, but he's our top goal scorer. He won us the game at Preston with a fine solo goal. I dont remember Stern John ever looking like he could give a toss but he scored goals. McGoldrick will score goals more than anyone else in our squad at the moment. Saga, when he gets back is about the only striker worth challenging him for a place in the team. Untill then, the kids been better than any other striker in our squad. Yes he's been inconsistent, but he's a kid, unless he's Rooney he's going to be **** but i'd rather him in the team than anyone else in our squad, quite simply because not one of the other strikers is doing ANYTHING worth shouting about.

At least he's getting chances to miss, which is something I do not remember Robertson or Paterson ever having when they have played, and if someone says "They haven't been given a chance to play regulary like McGoldrick has." Then that is ******** also because Robertson has and Paterson cant even get ahead of him in the reserve side.

BWP is a much better winger before anyone says anything about starting him upfront on his own and as for the mug who said play Skacel up front, well done clever clogs, play the only half decent player capable of playing left back who we were all crying out for to come back in at left back at the start of the season upfront on his own, when despite rumours saying otherwise he's never actually played there.

I can't reply anymore because of the shocking 3 post rule.

Please stop listening to radio Hampshire and actually start attending games.

McGoldrick should never be in the team EVER.

  2. Merry Christmas Pes, Don't believe our stripy friends mate, They fool us into thinking Woopert is the devil him self on earth, And that he is dragging them into the Abyss,,,,,,,,,,Then the sneaky bastards go and vote for there knight in shining Armour (by 95%) to lead them to victory. If you find them in favor of your un safe idea, Its because there after our prem status;)

Enjoy it while it lasts Mr Rill because once Arry goes into the transfer window, you will need a bus to take all of your top players up to Spurs.

Your Russian backer wants out and you dont seem to be getting a new stadium.

At least all we have to worry about is Rupert.

    Oh by the way.Merry Christmas!!

  3. I can understand where PES is coming from, but it would never work.

Ask any Pompey or Saints fan,who they would most like to win against and i bet 99% of them would say their local rivals.

I bet fans of Newcastle and Sunderland would say the same.

The banter and local rivalry all add to the matchday experience.

But in the interest of forwarding friendly relations,a merry Christmas to all our Pompey readers!

  4. I wasnt going to post on this subject,as i can see both sides.

I am a Saints supporter and i will go and cheer the team on despite some shocking performances.

Sometime i go and am surprised that we win(Reading) and other times we play well and dont win.

Excitement, skill, boredom, anger and despair are all words and emotions i feel most times i go to a match.

To be fair,if it wasnt for a great bunch of friends who i go with i may have stopped ages ago.

But to those who dont go,i can totally understand that as well.

Hating Lowe(i do),too expensive, not worth it,we lose too often.I agree with this as well.

But Southampton FC is MY team and i dont go to see anyone else, nor do i want to support anyone else.

I am not going to the Manure game because i have had to give up my seat and i think STHs shouldve had cheaper tickets.I dont want to see us humiliated and i wouldnt be able to control myself if a Manure fan was sat next to me.

I suppose the only way we can get SFC back on the road to recovery is to get rid of Lowe/Wilde etc and to start winning games.

  5. I too miss foreversaints. Does it still say coming soon? It had its moments as a genuinely good place for debate. Obviously it had its mentalist racists too but I can overlook that :D

    Good place for debate??

Only until the person who ran it disagreed with you.

Then you werent allowed to post.

This site is so much better.

Lets leave Foreversaints where it belongs....in the past.

  6. I doubt if the stewards will be that bothered anyway.

On Saturday a fan walked straight past a steward blatantly wearing a Forest hat, then he went through the "J" turnstyle in the Northam.

Despite a lot of Saints fans pointing out the fact he was obviously an away fan,the steward didnt want to know.

Only when it looked like it might kick off in the concourse, was he escorted out.

In fact it will probably be easier for the stewards to kick out the few Saints fans on January 4th.

  7. For Poortvliet, read Wigley.

Both are obviously really nice guys, both tried their best, but both were/are out of their depth.

I can't blame Poortvliet for taking the job on, but I do think the twrat he appointed him should be held responsible.

We had a manager of reasonable standard who was fully supported by the fan base, so wh the fckukc was he sacked????

JAN TO GO AND LOWE TO STAND DOWN.

Now that last bit would really make my Christmas a happier one!

  8. SCW claimed that a few small things can make a big difference.

    Well, here are some ideas:

    1) tell the stewards to ignore standing in the Northam. Whatever you think about them this is the engine room of the support and allowing the opposing fans to stand while making our own sit is not conducive to vocal domination. For long periods yesterday Forest outsung us - poor, really poor.

    2) when thinking about opening corners, open the Itchen/Northam first as this creates banter between opposing and home fans which is an essential element of atmosphere. Yesterday's atmosphere was like that on Jupiter...

    3) give every fan a free drink every once in a while. Amazing what a bit of goodwill can do for crowd morale.

    4) attack the home end in the second half.

    5) have some cheer/chant-starters in every stand, paid by the club on the qt to get the crowd going.

Now, I ain't saying that these things compensate for leadership and spine, but by God we have made our ground a sanitised place. Seriously, I have been to louder monasteries than the game yesterday.

Yes, the players owe us. But however they're playing I don't mind a bit of a sing-song and maybe being the 12th man once in a while. Yesterday was pants as football goes for the atmosphere. No tension, no agression, no frivolity, no jolity...

PS: Don't turn this into another thread slagging off the team. Just agree or not that there are some simple things we could do that couldn't hurt.

Excellent points LTC and i agree with everyone of them.

Also can the club tell the old bill to stop picking on fans who swear in the Northam.

Yesterday my son(who is 17) was yanked out of his seat and told in no uncertain terms, that if he carried on swearing,he would be arrested.

Totally over the top.The copper soon decided he had had enough and went away, once the whole Northam end started calling for Lowe to f--k off.

  9. Poor from start to finish today.

We were outmuscled, outplayed and outclassed all over the pitch.

I'm not sure what, but something needs to change because if we continue in this vein of form, then relegation is a certainty.

Well i know what we can change to start winning games again.

    1-The manager,sorry Head Coach.

    2-The Chairman/Coach/Mr Southampton/Saints arent nothing without me....Rupert Lowe.

3-All our younger players who cant handle this league.....McGoldrick!!!!!1

Oh just a point to all of those in charge at SMS.

    WE NEED A STRIKER!!!!!

  10. I liked Pearson. IMO the biggest asset he brought was that he seemed to motivate the players a bit after Burley. Even then it was close run thing with an experienced and expensive team. Strip out all those players and give him motivated but raw and inexperienced and in some cases not good enough youngsters, who knows whether he would have done better than JP this season.

You make a good point buctootim, but Pearson at least had experience with youngsters at international level with England and was prepared to work with our youngsters this season.

Personally i think we wouldve been a lot better off with him leading our team.

At least we wouldve seen 4-4-2 at home.

  11. We werent "on the right track before Lowe came back" though were we? Have you really forgotten the near relegation last season despite throwing shed loads of money we didnt have at the problem?

Weve underperformed for three seasons. Little has actually changed, except we are spending as much money as we used to to get the same result.

You also forgot that at least 5-7 thousand fans have had enough of all of this toal football rubbish?
