  1. What concerns me is the hardening of Adkins attitude. He appears to have become inflexible as the “we play 4-3-3” comment illustrates. Unlike some, I don’t purport to be a football expert & to be honest the intricacies of differing systems is sometimes beyond me. However, even a thicky like me can see than if it aint working, something needs to change. I worried that his intransigence, will see him out of a job. Evolve or die.

Having said that is it 433 that’s doing for us, or is it a case that the defence isn’t up to the job.

  2. Don't understand why Gazza was dropped in favour of Boruc. However, it does illustrate one of two possibilities,

    1) We have three inept keepers

    2) We have inept defence.

Personally, for me it's the second one. Maybe, just maybe KD isn't quite as bad as made out by some. It matters very little how good the keeper is, if the defence is sh!te, you will leak goals. Unfortunately it's always the keeper that kops the flak.

  3. Thanks. No, haven't got building regs - was hoping the Builder would do that... is that not their job (not being funny, i honestly dont know the answer!)??

Ultimately, it's your responsibility, of course you can ask the builder to organise it, but don't just assume they have/will do. It's your property after all. Also I assume whatever this wall is supporting, will still need supporting after it's gone, this would more than likely need a steel, which will need designing. No matter what a builder will tell you, it' not just a case of looking at it and saying "It just needs a bit of 8x4 rsj mate".

  4. M J Adams, in the FMB, & is local (Bassett). Did some work for me a few years ago, was quick, efficient & a good price.

Btw, have you sought Building Regs approval, or are you wanting the builder to use a Bulding Notice, either way, it would be wise to get a Structural Engineer to take a look before letting a builder loose with a sledge hammer, I believe to have Tim's details.

  5. Liverpool (or Sefton Council to be precise) has also received a grant for £35m to dredge the Mersey to help build a new container terminal

To add insult to injury, a Southampton based firm of Structural Engineers are designing either this place or the Passenger Terminal.

  6. Well, do you normally have issues with eating breakfast?

I am not in the habit of having a large breakfast but have tried to get into the habit of at least having a piece of wholemeal toast and orange juice first thing in the morning. (7-8am ish.) I always have a banana 1-2 hours before running, it really does make a difference to me.

Make sure there is something high energy and easy to digest before running, that will carry you through. Over 5k (3ish miles) you should be fine.

No I've definitely never had issue eating breakfast  but I've had issues running a couple of hours after a meal, so I now run before I eat. but a banana etc would probably be ok.

    Cheers.

  7. Ok chaps, I need a bit of advice, as I mentioned I've ducked out of the 10 mile & I'm doing the 5k, which, Spurs match aside, that was the right decision, as when I get to about 2.5-3 miles my knee is shot & stays shot for about 5 days, 10 miles would have been near on impossible, I digress though. The advice I need is when to eat breakfast. I usually train at about 6-7 pm & haven't eaten since about 1.30 pm. The run is about 10 ish. Will I have problems eating a light brekky, say a couple of bits of toast, a couple of hours before race time?

  8. That was probably the most incredible thing I've seen, for me, it was similar to watching the first ever Space Shuttle landing, and to land on his feet was awesome, I fully expected him to land in a crumpled heap. I nearly didn't get to see it as my wife dished up tea as he was running through his checks. Myself & no.2 son wanted to watch it live, the others capitulated, so there were four of us huddled in our tiny computer room with roast dinner on our laps (almost literally in the case of my youngest). It's what I imagine it was like for the moon landing, all huddled around a small screen.

With regards to the chute opening, it said on the Red Bull streaming that his visor had misted, and he was unsure of his exact altitude, so he deployed his chute early.

I hadn't realised until this morning that the Comms man at mission control was none other than Joe Kittenger the last crazy guy to jump from space, and also yesterday was the 65th anniversary of the first manned supersonic flight, nice synergy I think.

  9. I really hope we don't get it...sacrilege to play thigh-groping hand ball on the hallowed turf with a bunch of ra-ra public schoolboys polluting the hallowed seats.....:uhoh:

Never been to a match then! As Lighthouse, I went to the local comp & played rugby, my sons also go to the local comp & play, both at school & for a club, they are coached (amongst others) by a kitchen fitter, a groundworker, an ex-squaddie and bloke that installs hoists for the disabled, none of which went to Eton .

  10. He must have enjoyed it, he finished it.

Did no one really notice? I reckon they (the parents) thought it would be amusing to give the kid some booze & when he became ill got all panicky and blamed the restaurant.

  11. His headstone was removed last night:

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/saviles-headstone-removed-family-011016948.html

Will be broken up and disposed of, after the having the inscription on it destroyed.

It should be remembered that Saviles family are also victims of this, in a different way of course. I can only applaud their actions and the dignified comments they've made.

"(We) are deeply aware of the impact that the stone remaining there could have on the dignity and sanctity of the cemetery," a statement released on behalf of the family said. Out of respect to public opinion, to those who are buried there, and to those who tend their graves and visit there, we have decided to remove it."

  12. Maybe the OP is dyslexic.

Pretty sure this is an open forum where we can debate all this good & bad about Saints, but be careful about taking the p!ss out of bad spelling & grammar. I did this on another forum, only to be pm'd by another poster telling me that the guy I was ridiculing was dyslexic & it took a lot of balls for him to post. I felt a bit of a *u**.

  13. Whenever I hear his name that photo of the horrendous gash in his thigh (I forget where and when), appears in my head!

I think he suffered a dead leg that wouldn't come round, IIRC the gash was a result of surgery, I think it went the entire length of his thigh.
